The James Cameron Rolex Deepsea: Is It Worth Your Investment? 

The deepsea d-blue is not a limited edition. It's a misleading message in the movie.

I bought my 136660 Deep Sea D-Blue James Cameron last December and I love it. The 13 month wait was worth it and the watch makes my Submariner look dainty!

I got mine last year. And it is a beautiful timepiece and i enjoy wearing it.

After the no date Sub, it's my favorite Rolex.

我剛等到136660太喜歡了，第一代我就注意它了，這是很棒的錶，缺點就是要等很久很久。

Picked up my 136660 from my local AD after a mere 17 days wait from initial consultation to getting it on my wrist; that must be a record! Very very happy with it and hope to have it in my collection for many years to come.

Deepsea and Bluesy are my two favorite watches

Sorry but 1 Cameron didn't wear the Deepsea Challenge during his dive, that watch was on the outside of the Deepsea Challenger submariner, on its robotic harms. 2 The watch JC wore INSIDE the submariner, at his wrist, was a Rolex Deepsea 116660 black dial (the only one dial option available at the time), mk2 dial. 3 The D-Blue Dial Rolex Deepsea isn't a limited edition watch at all! 4 James Cameron didn't collaborate with Rolex for the project of the Rolex Sea Dweller Deepsea watch presented at the Basel 2008 show.

a watch i bought in 2021...worn it only as few times , resale isnt fantastic on these pieces , used prices arent much above retail, i have big wrists at 8 and a quarter inch but the thickness of this watch is limiting to where you can wear it....ive now sold it ..a more useable watch is a SD43..same wrist presence but not as thick , both these watches dont get much love in the secondary market ..

My 126660 is my daily driver and I absolutely love it.

I own the 126660 d-blue and it's now my daily watch. I love the weight, the size, and the overall beauty (especially in the bright sun). It makes my Daytona Panda and GMT-Master II feel small now. Yes I know the difference between 40mm and 44mm...but it's a matter of how they now feel on my wrist (7 3/4 inches). If you are thinking about purchasing a DSSD, I highly recommend it. And BTW, I could care less about investment value...I brought it to wear and that is what I do. I just HATE to get a scratch on it, especially the side of the case where the helium valve is located. I just love to see that "mirror" finish!

Not the James Cameron, but a 1220m Sea Dweller bought in 1987 for 7 weeks pay as a teacher in Australia. I was interested in canoeing, sailing, bushwalking etc and wanted the toughest, most reliable waterproof watch available at the time as I was going overseas for a few years... there was not the supercharged iconic/cache value back then (which I was not the least bit interested in at he time), as with most things this only came with the 'crazy late '80's. Long story/short, for one reason or another my watch went for 23 years without a service and ran faultlessly during that time, as verified by the previous servicing watchmaker. Here in Australia the servicing watchmakers engrave their initials and the date of servicing somewhere inside the case. I offer this as a testament to the reliability of this model (as if this has not already been established on countless occasions over many years) and I continue to salute the steadfastness of not 'my Rolex' but simply 'my watch'!

Watches are to be enjoyed not to be investments

The D Blue is will only appreciate in value for another new reason. The structurally flawed design of the fatal OceanGate Expedition submersible, The Titan's Titanium Carbon fibre epoxy matrix composite material and 7 inch thick acrylic portal window which catastrophically imploded at the depth of 12500 feet below sea level or Titanic wreckage resting point. Watch Collectors would instantly recognise the engineering marvel of the Rolex DSSD D-Blue Steel and 5.5 cm thick sapphire crystal that not only triumphed over the Titan but the fact that the watch would be only thing that could have survived the implosion

Hi does anyone know the retail price in gbp of these from 2014 - 2022 ? I belive they are around £12200 to buy now.

Which of the 3 models are the most collectable? The last 136600 dont have the drivers extension and the first 116600 was top heavy and limited production, the second 126600 was maybe the best. Is it the 116600?

Ma786sai Dua is the 2023 Ref 136660 the same heavy weight of 212 grams as the outgoing Ref 126660? I like the look and feel of this 126660. Is the 2023 Ref 136660 the same?

I bought one and love it except it’s huge both in diameter and thickness. It also heavy. You know you have it on. You have to be conscious of its size as not to bang it up.

Is this collectebility applicable also to one with black dial,2022 model?

I have one as a daily. But it too big for formal use.

The BLACK dial Sea-Dweller Deepsea is the greatest Rolex ever made. The blue dial "Cameron" is gimmicky and rather feminine. That Lime green is hideous. Usually people who are new to Rolex initially want the Cameron or the Batman. Rookie mistake..... If they get it, they flip those 2 within a year. The black dial Deepsea is like the Submariner on steroids. It is the Mans mans Rolex.....Get the Black dial DeepSea. Its the only watch I wear.
