I'll add that I think Fletcher isn't memey enough to get consideration from Yuro, powerful enough to get attention from Robin, and isn't exciting enough to get frequently featured by Jingles. But it's such a fundamentally solid ship that I wish it got its due. It really is a wonderful little boat.

@@zb10948 Why legendary? Normal gearing is better since you have 16.5km torps, also better turrets layout and DPM.

I tried building reload booster, and found it a no-go. You're really just a "much worse leg mod Shima" with that build. The circumstances where the extra rack of torps the reload booster gives you are game-changing are too few and far between - either it has no significant effect, or it's overkill; and you're giving up better consistency thanks to leg mod Shima's shorter down-time and the fact ti doesn't need to synchronise torp CD with the tRLB. Having smoke so that you can make consistent use of Hayate's guns is far more valuable.

Eh, depending on how you build it, it plays in between a Benson and an Akizuki. Either you go for Kagero style torp gameplay with a bit of hybrid assassination built in; or you go IJN gunboat build with IFHE and do some stealth-torping whenever you need to provide vision to team, or are worried about being clapped with artillery.

@@Mortifix Let's take a comparison between Azuma and Agir, since they're both free xp and tier 9 premium cruisers. The better cruiser will be listed in multiple categories and reasons behind them. Survivability: Agir (Higher HP, somewhat trollish turtleback armour, very slightly more resilience to HE spam Gunpower: Agir (Higher alpha damage for AP & HE, higher DPM for AP & HE) Ballistics: Azuma (Longer base range and spotter aircraft is available, flatter shell arc, higher accuracy, higher AP penetration at longer distances) Secondaries: Agir (More range & penetration values, but Azuma has better accuracy) Torpedoes: Agir (Errmm cuz Azuma has none...) Concealment: TIE (Both have exactly identical base concealment values) Maneuverability: TIE (Agir has slightly better turning radius, Azuma has slightly better rudder shift) AA: TIE (Agir has more AA range, Azuma has slightly higher AVERAGE AA DPM) Consumables: Agir (Just because of German Hydro) Overall verdict, Agir over Azuma. Personally, I prefer Agir's superior base values over Azuma's gun accuracy and ballistic controls. Azuma excels at long range combat where your guns outperforms your enemies, or even outright out-range them. But this requires spotting from team. At closer ranges where enemies can hit you, Azuma gets blown up by basically everyone due to ridiculously thin armour. I consider Agir a dollar-store Alaska with extra torps, an all-rounder that is fairly reliable in almost any situation, but isn't top-tier in any aspect. In this comparison, I'd pick Agir over Azuma any day. As for Azuma and Yoshino, Azuma is basically a tier 9 Yoshino without any torps. Hope this comparison and information helps

I guess if the ship was being removed all together, I might be more inclined to buy it but I keep hearing it's not really that good so I'll probably just pass on it and get the Yoshino if I want something like that playstyle. if you are not new to the game, have much fexp and only lack a few rare ships - buy it just for the sake of not getting it out of NY crates or super containers. If you are though and have to consider where to spend the scarce resourses - i'd say Groningen and Agir are a must have, Hayate and Azuma - not so much. That said, neither of the 4 (except for Agir, maybe) are as versatile and powerful as Smaland and Alaska were, so not getting these is not as sad as not getting those, imo.

Nothing to show - Omahas are all about using island cover effectively and spamming fires on everyone until you win. There's really nothing to it. It's light-cruiser 101.

Thats pretty easy, DONT GET SHOT! Run AWAY from Battleships! Maybe bounce DD and CL shells off your 75mm citadel? Other then that you are basically a island camper with your 6 torp tubes per side and decent gun armament. You can even fire all 5 bow guns if your cheeky about pointing your nose at the enemy.

Omaha is a beast with the right strat and situation

I agree so much. I loved the idea of using it as a stronger yugumo with usable gun power, but somehow it handles as bad as the kitakaze/Grozovoi. If you run into someone at 6.1 detect it takes FOREVER to turn around and you eat so much damage. Makes no sense whatsoever because it's not like the gunpower is as good as something like the kita to make up for it and the shell velocity means you have to get closer unlike Grozovoi

Nevsky is excellent. Start game by moving up so that you can stealth-radar the cap without being detected - get ready to land an HE salvo or two into the enemy DD contesting the cap to help yours. If your DD is good and outspots the enemy DD you can potentially hold your fire and hold your radar - wait for the enemy DD to smoke up, then radar him when he's blinded. Helping your DD early is a way to win the game in the first few minutes. Once you've gotten detected, start kiting away from the enemy to a safe crossfire position (either use islands to cover you from battleship AP, or kite around an off-angle at long range). Nevsky has excellent AP penetration characteristics, so you want to be spamming that AP into cruiser broadsides (you can comfortably cit a lot of cruisers at extreme range), and generally using AP as much as possible. If you can't find a safe position where you can use your AP, you just spam HE from maximum range where you can kite and juke long-range return fire. I don't bother with IFHE because AP is the bread-and-butter ammo for Nevsky, and even if you are in a situation where you're spamming HE, then you generally want more fires to farm something down rather than more pens.

It's typical wargaming "give with one hand, take with the other". Its gunpower isn't quite good enough to make it a gunboat proper; its slow reloading sluggish torpedoes and reliance on the torpedo booster aren't enough to make it a torpedo boat that can match up to a Shima - even before you appreciate the Shima's smaller and stealthier and so way less vulnerable. If Hayate has the TRLB on the speedboost slot instead of the smoke slot, that would be a very different story, as its base speed is good enough to forgo speed boosts.
