I use to wear nothing but Levi 501s. Then they got real expensive and made with thinner and cheaper types of denim. I then switched to carhartts but unfortunately the store I go too stopped selling the more rugged style denim. Now I wear wranglers.
I was a 501 California boy till I worked on my uncle's ranches in NM & TX then it was 100% Wrangler. I still buy them as they always fit my ft ass perfect to wear when the wife has bought the cheap ass Levi's they're too baggy in the nut sack ass area.
John Dutton wears RRL jeans. I own the blue ones( RRL Low Straight Lansford Selvedge Jean) and was about buy the tan ones ( don't remeber the model name) , but had second thougts. They both cost a 405 € a year ago ( I believe that's about 435 dollars). Sadly, tehy don't sell them anymore. Great video :)
Rip wears a Filson Tin cloth short lined cruiser ($500) Jacket... but as Beth said he have been wearing the same 3 pair of jeans and jacket for a decade.. So he probably buy something that wouldnt wear out and just get better with time. But as many say, most of their clothes are product placements to fit their persona. His shades are a pair of Oliver Peoples Clifton OV1150S 503585 Gold, Light Brown Gradient Grey.. also ~500 smackers..
Awesome video man! Thanks for doing all the research on these garments. I would love to see you do more T.V. shows or movies focusing on heritage quality clothing. Cheers 👏
Only jeans wear on this ranch: WRANGLER TEXAS, because the waist band is higher in the back it's about the only jeans the guys wear. Also the tougher denim allows the guys not to wear it out so fast. Only the stitches could be more solid. So my mom takes the guys out with their new jeans to the tailor in town, they can double up on the stitches. Also wrangler's can handle thicker belts, some of the guys have a flashlight or something clipped to their belt. 1 pair goes 4-8 weeks, depending on season. Only downfall: bootcut is harder and harder to come by...
Yep, they look like RRL alright. More hipster than genuine. Denim is denim though, especially after a few wash and wear cycles. But RrL specialising in raw denim and advising customers wait 6 months before first wash. Can you really see the wardrobe department doing that?
I agree. Wranglers are the #1 choice for most guys in most parts of the country. I've noticed the PRCA guys seem to wear more and more Cinch and designer stuff the last few years. I've seen lots of 501's amongst the Great Basin buckaroo crowd, too. Guess it depends where you're from, but I'm a Wrangler fan, too.
@@biknjak Yes sir, in my younger days I could wear a pair f 501's as Wrangler (As far as I know) hadn't come out yet, but then beer and age came into the picture and I had to go all-in with the Wranglers. I also notice the rodeo guys wearing the fancy stuff but they're paid to wear it so that's cool. When I was forcibly removed from my home in CA by my mother and dropped on an uncle's (Who I met once as a small child and really had n clue wh he was) ranch in New Mexico the cowboys schooled me quick, fast, and in a hurry. It was pretty much Wrangler from that point on until I overindulge then I go o my husky boy Levi's until I lose the girth.
@@bobsteadman9728 haha - yep! Gotta love the "dad bod"! Oh well, you can't be young forever, unfortunately. I wore 30" waist jeans for a looong time. Not anymore! Still have a six pack, though. I just have some insulation keepin' everything cool. Cheers!😎
@@biknjak Hell, when I moved from Texas I gave my brush popper shirts from the '90s to a nephew and the shit head got rid of them. Apparently, the old ones like mine that repel wind and rain, etc. are worth bucks now. Now every time I find an unopen box I hope for an early Bob XMAS.
@@bobsteadman9728 Yep, I had 4 or 5 of those, too! One of the many regrets in my life was getting rid of them. I kick myself, now. They were bright, but that light canvas was bombproof! Unfortunately, I've made lots of dumb decisions in my life. Live and learn, hopefully. Too bad youth is wasted on the young!
What?? Nobody wears real men's jeans? I just assumed someone would wear Prison Blues. Made right in Pendelton Oregon at the Oregon State Penitentiary. "Made by hard men on the inside for hard men on the outside." That used to be their logo. Made for men who wear out their cloths from the inside out.
Wrangler, like Levi, Carhart and so many other Jeans that used to be made for work wear have sold out to profit centric mega-companies that source cheaper made cotton fabrics and now blend those cottons with synthetics to increase profits and deliver a jean that looks the part but doesn't wear great and stand the test of time. I like Wrangler Retro but only one version is non-cotton/spandex blend, boot cut and heavy denim like they used to make them. Worse, is that they closed American factories and moved all manufacturing to cheap labor countries and for what? Yes, larger profits. Problem is most of America is drunk on cheap china-made goods and not quality lasting goods. A few of us will pay added cost for great quality and American made. Bring back American made Wrangler jeans made with pride. Globalism sucks!
I’m sure, if I was a young single working cowboy that a few great pairs of jeans would be where some of my money went. Just a few hours extra work will buy you a pair
Depends on what part of the country you're from, bud. Yep, Wranglers will always be #1 in my opinion, too, but a lot of us old school guys like 501's as well. Lots of PRCA guys wear Cinch and designer stuff, too.
