The Jeep Wrangler SRT 392 Is Antisocial and The Best Jeep Ever - Two Takes

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon SRT 392 is as ridiculous to operate as you think it is. It sounds, moves, and drives like a car from the 1960's... on pavement. It has way more engine than chassis, way more engine than steering, way more engine than brakes. It gets 10 miles per gallon. It will wake everyone up in a five block radius on cold starts. But, because a V8 engine is just generally so much more pleasant to operate than a humdrum six-cylinder, it's also the most special. And when you take it into the dirt, it really starts to make sense.
Jeep provided the vehicle, insurance, and a tank of gas for this review.

As far as MPG ,I drove my 392 from NYC to Miami.I averaged 17.9 MPG at 65-70 mph, without the cruise control. When I turned on the cruise control it dropped to 16.9-17 MPG.That’s not bad at all and much better then my 2020 Gladiator with 37s which averaged low 16s MPG.But once I got into Miami and drove around for a couple of days in the city in traffic. My MPG dropped to 10.5-11 lol.Even my challenger Scatpack widebody averaged 14 mpg in the city. However no one buys a Rubicon 392 and even thinks about efficiency.Jeep,Hemi 6.4,and efficiency don’t even belong together in the same sentence. You basically have a brick,in constant 4wd powered by a huge 6.4 V8 LMAO

I know you guys are finding it hard to find this as practical, in any way. Take Overlanding, for instance. These guys are loading their vehicles up with hundreds of pounds of equipment and food and such. Aside from the 800 lb. Diesel option, this is it. Those 6 cylinder, straight or V, barely cut the mustard without doing lots of re-gearing. Sure, it's expensive but, so is the diesel. Also, 37 inch tires are the new 35's. Most folks going big, are replacing axles, this thing? Bolt 'em on, no problem. Just playing a little Devil's advocate here. Great review.

I don't think people who can afford this care about gas mileage. You get to a point, and you really don't have to be rich because I'm not rich and I'm there, where you simply don't care much about gas prices or fuel mileage. I mean sure, more is always better, and I'd obviously rather pay less at the pump, but I'd never take fuel mileage into account for buying a car. Besides, when I ride my motorcycle that's like 50mpg, it offsets it. From the environmental perspective, I care about the environment, but not when it comes to gas for my car. 99% of the population cares a lot about fuel mileage, which in turn is better for the environment, therefore I'm fine being the outlier 1% who doesn't care, especially when a large portion of greenhouse emissions are from factories. The impact on the environment of this extremely small portion of the car market targeted at people who don't give a fuck about gas mileage is negligible at best. It's a very tiny portion of the car market. Anyway, this thing looks like an absolute riot, complete 10 out of 10. But I'm not much of a jeep guy, so if I wasn't going to daily drive a car, I'd get a TRX hands down.

“With the exhaust closed its ok,but with it open .I am just a douche” LMAO that’s priceless. Also I’ve owned 7 jeeps, the 392 is my 8th,and the steering is actually not bad at all. It’s tighter then my JKU and also feels better then my Gladiator. If you want a tighter feel to the steering, just install a Fox ATS and set it to firm.As soon as they are available again ,I’m going to install one.The Fox ATS won’t get rid of any steering issues you may have but it will tighten up the overall feel. The one complaint I do have is the shocks.Jeep softened the ride and gave it a smoother floatier ride similar to that of a luxury SUV.At highway speeds the ride is actually great compared to other Jeeps. However when driving slower,25-40 mph,the ride isn’t as good. When you encounter bumps at the slower speeds the shocks don’t have enough compression and tend to hit pretty hard.I would recommend either Fox elite 2.5 adjustable resis or the King 2.5 adjustable resis,so you can add a little more dampening and compression to balance things out a little better. This way you can add some firmness for those bumpy country roads and still soften them up for those long trips on the highway. It’s hard to find one shock to do it all and that’s what makes the shocks with adjusters so convenient. You can dial in the firmness of the ride to your own personal preference.

Idk why everyone says it's the first power top Roof for a jeep when my uncles Rubion has the one touch roof and it's not a new one

After carrying out some research, our team chose to choose AOM given that we can inform due to the favorable evaluations that they were actually a company that absolutely loved their clients and also our experts were certainly not disappointed! Our GMB web page got placed within a full week and we saw a rise in tops not long after!

Damn another good four door SUV option with good power. I might consider this when I look at the BMW X3M.
@CrazyWeeMonkey

Worth noting that this is such a different type of vehicle compared to the X3M. The BMW is faster in every way, more comfortable, quieter, and way more efficient. The Wrangler trades all of that for off-road ability, which may not be worth it if you don't go offroad.

That is probably the best sounding stock exhaust V8 I ever heard!

This sounds like every 6.4 charger/challenger/Durango. I mean it's good, but not new. Silly thing is hearing it out of a jeep.

There are currently 2 Wrangler 392s for sale in Dubai, for the equivalent of $136k lol... This market is ridiculous

This is the only time a wrangler should be on Road tires. Go ahead and put them on street legal slicks

At this rate, just throw in the hellcat motor before they're phased out. Brabus G Wagens need a competitor.

I love the idea of this car but living in nyc and seeing lots of rolled jeeps on the highways I don't think this will help the situation

4.0 0-60 and 12.9 1/4, must have some really aggressive gearing with that fall off after initially better acceleration than the challenge/charger.

Aerodynamics are also probably a big factor

@@The_Stanman I dont think Aero matters much at those speeds.

@@FLBoyCanScrap This and Charger Scat Pack have the same transmission and gear ratios. OEMs focus on aero because it has a huge impact on accel and fuel economy at highway speeds. It's not easy to accelerate a brick from 60 to 100mph.

I believe the top speed is limited to 100mph which would drag out the 1/4 mile time.
