I am a longtime fan. 40 plus years. I honestly think the Canucks have a great history of awesome looking jerseys. I just got a Brock Boeser Addidas Authentic for $79.00.

Black away jersey from 1994 is ( imho ) one of the best. Brings back so many fond memories.

8:00 it took me a long time to realize the logo was a skate with Canucks written on the blade. I thought it was random lines to look creative. I felt stupid afterwards lol. Anyways good video and keep up the good work Shannon.

I've been waiting for this for a longggg time!! Favorites are: Black Skate, current wordmark-less Orca, the gradient Orca, and the 40th Anniversary stick in rink.

I have really enjoyed these jersey history videos for each team. The Canucks have a pretty interesting and extensive jersey history. My favorite Canucks jersey is the one they wore in the 1994 Stanley cup finals.

Canucks should make everyone happy by making a blue and green flying V, with the Orca on one sleve, the Skate on the other, the Stick in rink on one shoulder and Johnny Canuck on the other.

The flying skate is seriously one of the best NHL logos of all time. And the orca is a good logo. I get that people hate it for being a "corporate logo," but it's a good logo. I'm glad they finally dropped the "Vancouver" -- cleans up the look a lot. The Millionaires jersey is cool too.

The worst thing about being a Canucksfan in Sweden is the fact that almost noone cheers for them here, which makes it almost impossible to find Canucks-merch here.

The 1978 - '79 jersey was by far the nicest one. I like both, the yellow one and the black one.

I still have my 93/94 #1 McLean jersey, it's raggedy and frazzled but I still put it on from time to time.

The CCM Home White #10 Bure with the 1994 Stanley Cup finals patch takes the cake

As a kid I loved the early 90s skate jersey and when they switched to the orca I hated it. Looking back however the orca jersey is pretty sharpe but still miss that 90s skate. That Johnny Canuck fashion jersey is great!

I had a yellow flying V jersey when I was a kid but it was one of those knockoffs that Sears used to sell. It was a close to an actual jersey unlike what Sears normally sold back in the late 1970's, early 1980's. I also had a white 1991 CCM replica Trevor Linden jersey that originally didn't have a captain 'C'. Loved the white jersey but it would have been nice to see the V on the shoulders. I always called the Orca jerseys the 'Free Willy' jerseys thanks to the 1993 movie.

Never get rid of your first jersey, theres always sentimental value to the first one you get, I know once I’m older all of my jerseys are either going to my kids or my nephew, so wait till you have somebody you’d want to pass it down to.

The logo they used in the eighties and ninties was the best looking by far.

Canucks' fan from their WHL days. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you. I agree a green jersey would really be interesting. Too many teams have very basic color schemes. I imagine Seattle will try to push the envelop? One attraction of NASCAR is their clever paint schemes, from week to week.

The Canucks have got to have the most colourful jersey history in the league... all over the place but I guess that’s the charm? Like you said previously... skittles lol. I’ve got a pretty good collection now but I’m pretty attached to my vintage CCM stick in rink. It’s a beauty.

Although I prefer the skate logo, I have to admit the latest jerseys (without the wordmark) looks great. The only thing I would change is the color of the home jersey from blue to green.

Nice…I still have the first jersey I bought…it is very special to me…I was in ninth grade…1989…we went on a class trip to Quebec City…I live in the States so I was really looking forward to the trip and I loved the Nordiques as well…my main mission was to buy a Nordiques jersey while I was there…so as we walked around the city I spotted the white Nordiques jersey in a store and bought it…it’s the old maska CCM style too…so glad I still have it

I’m definitely happy with the current look... I’d LOVE a green 3rd, and I think a green-and-white letter V vintage Harvard/rugby-esque style (like that old red and white one) would be sweet

Funny that you mention the white stopping early in the Adidas replicate and didn't mention that they messed up the "white" in the Canucks on the mid-late 80's logo replicate. haha remember there was no white in the Canucks? it was gold/yellow

I think the reason certain fans, for example, prefer the "skate" logo with the yellow/red on black is likely because at the time the Canucks were rocking those jersey was the time when those fans actually began watching Canucks hockey. I can speak from experience; I am a big fan of those colours and logos. Most of my memorabilia is related to the "skate" logo. I have one each of the "Orca" and "hockey stick in rink" jerseys, for when i go to home games. I think when most of the fans in a stadium are wearing the same/or similar jerseys it becomes more intimidating for the visiting team. Honestly though it probably has no effect.

The green 3rd wroks for Utica. Most Utica Comets games I've been to, they've worn it on the ice. Plus I see at least 1/2 of the fans wearing the green 3rd at home. It think it's a good idea for Vancouver

9:23 Oh my...it's beautiful/hideous. I love it. I like the stick and rink in the orca colors too. The orca is great too but that might be my childhood bias.

I´ve been a fan since the early 90:s and remember how everyone hated the skatelogo jersey back then. Now suddenly alot of fans want it back. Dont get me wrong, I love that jersey too today, but only for nostalgic reasons. It IS the perfect 3:rd jersey, but should never come back as a regular one. And I must disagree with Shannon about how the wording on the current jersey doesnt matter. I hated the orca when it came out but today I believe that the current jerseys with theese colors and NO wording is an absolute beaut!

The Canucks wore the Orca before I was born, ‘00 baby here, so it’s stuck with me a lot more, especially growing up and watching them buildup to that 2011 run. But my stepdad, who was born in Toronto but early in his life moved to Vancouver so he was a Canucks fan, had some Canucks merch still to wear and all have it had the skate logo and I’ve always preferred it over the others. But I didn’t know about the other colour version, with orange and marigold, until I saw your video on the complicated history on Canucks jerseys and you compared the home arena to a pack of skittles, still gets me to this day lol. I’m still extremely sad there is no new orange and marigold colour skate jersey with the throwback this year but I understand why they went with the red and yellow from that famous ‘94 run that I missed out on. Regarding the current logo, I would love to see the skate back, it’s unique and different from other logos and I couldn’t care less if people called it a plate of spaghetti again, it’s my plate of spaghetti. I am fine with the orca, it looks nice but it’s just not as nice as the skate and it has that corporate feel to me, like the current Jets logo, looks good but kind of simple and generic compared to what they can do, still waiting for the old jerseys to become the main and/or a logo with their secondary which is awesome by the way. The stick and rink works but it’s just kind of boring to me, yeah I get what it represents but I don’t know, it’s just missing something, I will say the newest version of the stick and rink is my favourite, just the logo not the jersey as a whole. I would rather not see Johnny Canuck on a main jersey, at best a secondary logo on the shoulders or something, but never the main logo. But at the end of the day, none of this matters because we’re Canucks fans and we’re going to keep suffering through this complicated identity crisis together! XD

The alaska aces wore a Johnny Canuck looking jersey when they affiliated with Vancouver back a few years ago, its actually a nice looking jersey.

My favourite, BY FAR, is the home white skate jersey ... There's not been anything close to a design as smart, sexy, elegant, clean, impactful, as that one; and the away black was perfectly balanced, though I think they could have thrown in some original Canucks blue into that design ... it was ALMOST too dark. But easily the best set of uni's overall. Cheers, thanks for the memories!

I loved yeaterday's video on leafs jersey history. So I had to watch the video on YOUR fav team. Canucks have some beautiful jerseys. And IDC what anyone says the flying V jersey although ugly they are epic I love them.

Their current jerseys are the best. So glad they got rid of the wordmark because it makes this logo look so much more bold. Their current 3rds are super underrated too, I love the stripes.

Love the flying V on the ice. Watch the 82 cup run and it really pops. Ugly as it is, somehow it fits that team perfectly.

Didn't they briefly wear the skate jerseys with a slightly neon greenish-yellow? I seem to remember that. Seeing the team wearing the black skate jerseys this year was awesome. Such a classic look, brought me right back to '94 (looking up from my keyboard now, I'm seeing that there's 94 comments). And I was really glad they got rid of the word mark, it's a cleaner look and makes more design sense.

I think the current primaries are very good. Just need to add some green to the Orca logo.

Pretty late comment to this video, but great job. Enjoyed the history & commentary! My all-time favourites are the 85-89 skate logo with the V on the shoulder. I own & adore the yellow home jersey & usually wear it to Canucks games. I’d like to get my hands on the black one too. I didn’t mind the 1990 change over where they removed the shoulder V & changed the yellow jersey to white (it was still really sharp), but I didn’t care as much for changing the orange to a redder colour in 92 or 93, which ended up being the more iconic skate jerseys. I’ve always liked the Orca logo too, but the colour scheme during the first era (late 90s to 2007) wasn’t for me. I still have my white jersey from that era though. Overall, I enjoy the cornucopia of jerseys they’ve had over the years. I love that I can go to games with buddies & we’re all wearing Canucks jerseys, but none are the same.

Vancouver should go back to the flying skate black/red/yellow jerseys, they are some of the coolest jerseys this league has ever seen And I'm going to draw some ire here, but I never thought the stick in rink jerseys were ever anything special, they're kind of a meh Jersey, but I do like the stick breaking up the sleeve stripes I also like the flying V jerseys...😬

The White and Black Merigolds are the Rare Drops. I'm missing those and the V on the shoulders but have the others.

Go with the jersey that actually won a Stanley cup. The Vancouver Millionaires. Use the name too. As for the mascot, have a millionaire that looks like the Monopoly man (uncle Penmybags?).

the hat and jersey thing may seem like something subtle and not a big deal but it makes such a big diffrence, with my blue orca jersey i wear a matching beanie it looks so good i just couldnt imagine wearing a nucks jersey or a leafs or lightning hat/beanie... colours match kinda but it just wouldnt look right , im a red sox fan i wouldnt even wear my nucks jersey n my sox hat hahaha

You may or may not have missed it because you don't have numbers on it... But, this years' 3rd has raindrops on the numbers (back and shoulder) and the look awesome! (also VanBase was selling the 50 patches about a month ago)

I don’t mind the skate logo jerseys, but to me the Canucks blue/green color scheme is the best in the league and I think the stick in rink logo is my favorite Canucks logo. When the Canucks rebranded to the orca logo those colors were nice, but reminded me too much of Colorado’s colors.

the 40th anniversary skate jersey from this year is an adidas, if you look closely then you can see it also has no white over the “S”, i’m a canucks fan and I don’t really care. I’d still buy the adidas classic one

Vancouver's 1978-79 to 1984-85 season jersey design is a crime against eyesight. Look at what they had and what they changed it to...why...why? I had a 1990's skate logo style Pavel Bure jersey. I do miss that one.

Nice video! Personally, I'm a fan of the '85-'89 jersey... then the old V! (Stopped watching them in '97 when they went with an orca. Sorry) What's not mentioned here is that the '85-'89 version had "yellow" between the lettering as opposed to white(which you can easily catch when looking at a knock-off or reissue) Great history here though :)

If you look carefully at the "stick in a rink" logo, it actually makes the shape of the letter C. I just saw this recently, and to think that all this time, I f=thought that the "stick in a rink" logo was lacking in creativity and flair.
