The Jika rig is a great way to mix it up and show the bass something different. Like a lot of things I rig my Jika rig a little different. This was born again out of my cheapness and love for tinkering with baits.

Like your video. I use this rig drifting for Walleyes with paddle tails. From lowa to the Dakotas. Bottom bouncer on one line paddle tail on the other. They crush the the paddle tail rig when they hit. It works great cause you change depths so many times. It's not just for bass. Keep the videos coming.

Alex, Thanks for the how to video. I bought the Owner Jig Rigs, you get 2 rigs for $4.99 in the world of the jig not a bad deal. Your comment about the cylinder weight vs the teardrop weight is worth gold and so true. There was something I wanted to improve and that was it. I took your advice and purchased the weights and built my own. I did not like to tie to the welded ring due to possible line chafe. I took your Tokyo rig idea and used a small swivel as a tie point. I love it. You did not state what size split rings you are using, I assume the #5 same as in the Tokyo rig vid. I had to use size 2 to get thru the eye of my hooks. I use finesse style hooks and do not use power fish.

Pretty creative with that. Looks like it would work pretty well. As I read the comments, I thought it would be a good idea to demonstrate the action of the lure in say maybe a 25gal. fish tank or something. Just a suggestion. I'm liking these DIY type rigs instead of paying for em.

looks like a pretty cool rig . I bet a sick fish will work well on it. I'm trying to dedicate myself to throwing big swimbaits this year and just got my first 8 ft heavy e13 rod, but I truely can't forget what got me to catching big fish and that's senkos and jigs. I see guys now that start throwing these big baits and never even thrown a conventional style bait. I just need some patience and dedicate myself to those big baits here in Massachusetts for at least one season. I know they work.Its all about being patient and sticking to your guns.I'm sure I'll end up trying it this year even though trying not to. Thanks Alex another informative vid

Isn't the action the same as a larew hinge head or the strike king hinge head? its a free swinging weight allowing bait to float up. I've fished one for a long time with my craw or creature baits for this same reason
@AlexRuddFishing
@AlexRuddFishing 7 лет назад
Joe Tew the main difference is with a wobble head the weight is still in front of the weight and you tie directly to the weight. Where as with the jika the weight is bellow the weight and you tie to the spilt ring technically separating the weight from the bait. The cylinder style weight also acts and performs completely different to a football style weight that most wobble heads are. The jika rig also has more bottom separation at times causing it have that horizontal presentation like a drop shot. Thanks for watching!

This rig is going to go the way of the dinosaurs now that swing jigs are everywhere. I prefer the football head swing jig for bed fishing with a craw or any other plastic bait now.
@vincentlivoti4184
@vincentlivoti4184 Год назад
The only problem with the swing head Jig, is the hook is directly connected to the jig head. When using heavier weights, fish has the leverage to throw the hook. Unless you make your own using two split rings, take that leverage away from the fish. Also, using the two split rings increases the action of your bait.

Steve Tucker just depends on the salt content of the bait. With a lot of swimbaits a craws it's not very high so it lets the tails are claws stand up when sitting still.
