In my opinion, Jim Henson is an admirable creator and businessman. This is the fantastic story of the man and the company he created.

Jim Henson was a master storyteller who had so many things he wanted to do and not enough time to do them. He was ahead of his time and embraced media unlike any other creator before or since. My favorite project of his was one of his last projects, The Jim Henson Hour, an anthology of stories ranging from fantasy and folklore to mythologies and Muppet silliness. Brilliant stuff. We weren't ready for it.
@juliadagnall5816
@juliadagnall5816 11 месяцев назад
An important thing to remember about Jim Henson is that his first love was television, puppetry was just a tool that allowed him to get into the medium. He developed a deep respect for puppetry and puppeteers, but since he wasn’t a purist or upholding any kind of tradition he had the flexibility to experiment. He never stopped trying new techniques and pushing the limits of technology and imagination which helped him and his team to create exceptional content.

When it comes to the story inbetween the EMTV deal and Henson's sale of The Muppet Show and Bear in the Big Blue House assets to Disney (and just those two, as Sesame Street characters were sold back to Sesame Workshop, and Henson kept the rest), it's a little more complicated than that, but it is essentially how it ended up. What happened was several other companies were bidding for the rest of Henson during the EMTV sell off. Disney WAS very interested in the company at that point, and had bid on it, to the chagrin of the fanbase. I believe Sony and Warner Bros were also in the mix, but the most interesting potential Muppets owner was a partnership between Classic Media and Sesame Workshop. I'm still not sure who would control what portion of Henson or the Muppets, that was never hammered out because that's when the Henson Company bought it back. The Henson Company basically sold The Muppets (and just them and Bear, Fraggles and all those Creature Shop movies were still Henson) because they needed funding for the series of projects they were working on. Unfortunately, while Henson did have a bunch of projects that were finished, they had a tendency of announcing quite a bit that never happened. Then there was the DREADFUL and thankfully short lived Henson X Weinstein Brothers partnership that only resulted in 3 DTV CGI movies and a mercifully unproduced Fraggle Rock movie, which the famous terrible at their job brothers screwed with every step of the way. They had weird footing from there on out, and you know that movie "Happytime Murders" that everyone hates? Took them 10 years to get that off the ground, making it all the more heartbreaking. And things were looking up with the Netflix Dark Crystal series...until Netflix canned it after the first season because...well... partially that THING that happened in 2020 ruining the production schedule.

I wasn't very happy when Disney bought them but I was glad to watch all of the shows and movies on Disney + the last year. Haven't seen the original Muppet Show since the early 80s and it brought back a lot of memories. I did also enjoy Muppet Treasure Island too.

Great video, well, I still view cryptocurrency as one of the best digital investments and I totally love the system and technology when it comes to the biggest crypto asset, Bitcoin. As a trader, I could understand that there are two sides to crypto, everyone has their opinion when it comes to choosing which side to choose, although I'm not against Hodl, but I see it as an old and strange strategy to win Making the market as if it is getting bearish Investors / traders their investment is always painful, which is why I see day trading as a main source of profit from the crypto sector or trade warnings copied from a professional trader like MR Elvis Smore, whose trades are very accurate and I was able to massively increase my profits from 0.4 BTC to 4.5 Btc in just 3 weeks with its signals. Elvis Smore runs a program for wealthy elites on how cryptocurrency trading works, helping them capitalize on the volatility of the cryptocurrency market and get more profits from the market. He can be contacted by email: elvissmore1@gmail.com More instructions message to him

As a kid I LOVED bear in the big blue house. He is the opposite of Barney. He is calm, nice and it was just such a relaxing show to watch. It also helps that the puppetry was fantastic

Can u make a Kwik trip video? They’re growing similar to how Culver’s did in the MidWest. Very loyal shoppers. I worked there and people would travel across the border for the doughnuts and dairy. I heard something about a deal between the two of them and I think this would be a good collaboration. Also would make for an interesting video.

Seems like they do stiff competition with the Ractrac brand as well. Maybe something to add in there

You should do a video on the downfall of LG phones. They decided to stop the business because they can't compete with IPhone and Samsung . They were once leaders

We were on the way home from fishing at a small pond when over the radio we heard the news of Jim Henson's death. Needless to say it was a quiet trip. He went too early, but boy he left a wealth of creativity! There will not be another.

"Helllloo, Everybody! This is Grover" (my all time favorite Muppet) Thanks for this one. There was a lot I didn't know about Jim Henson. Loved the history and background on his family!

In addition to the puppets, Jim played the baker who entered a room, announced how many pies he had, fell down the stairs, and then dropped pies on Sesame Street. Of course, after that happened they had to muppet up.

Jim Henson created my favorite childhood shows and movies, this video brought back so many memories! I still enjoy watching and listening to the soundtrack of Emmett Otter’s Jug Band Christmas.

Sesame Street and Labyrinth! I am obsessed with Labyrinth and David Bowie's portrayal of Jared, The Goblin King. (I always wonder what Jim Henson was thinking about when he helped design those tights.)

The muppet show was part of my childhood. When i started to rewatch some of the episodes now i never realize that the show had a lot of adult humor and it's funny as heck! The one thing you didn't mention was about one of the final programs he made was called "The Jim Henson Hour" ... I believe it was broadcasted either on abc or nbc. I thought it was pretty unique with different small stories per show using different muppet characters.

Great Video Company Man I hear there will be a Jim Henson Biopic in a few years and for anyone who wants a deeper dive into the more creative side I would recommend the Defunctland series on Jim Henson where it talks about the full History of Sesame Street and a lot more about the other shows

I loved fraggle rock. I remember in 2008, on my birthday, i got to have a job interview at Jim Henson's studio. I actually didn't care either way if i got the job, but i was thrilled, because i knew i would get the tour of the place.
