OMG!! This has been an incredible journey!! I've read about 5 bio's on Jimi, read Electric Gypsy twice! But I have never so drawn into something about Jimi as this! But there is a sense of dread because it all ends in the next episode! Thank you for this Belly Button Window! As a life long Hendrix fan, truly appreciate this!!
Thank you so much! Don't worry, while the story of Jimi’s life draws to an end, the mystery, controversy and legacy stories have yet to be told. Plus some revised and improved earlier episodes. Stay tuned, cheers!
After covering Jimi's death it would be equally interesting to cover his posthumous legacy. Mitch and Noel interviews, Experience Hendrix, etc..Thanks for all you've done, BellyButton!
I keep not being able to get it quick enough for your recommend ed interview of Jimi when they ask him about Monterey sorry ,is it called British. .something
Well here we go. September 1970 was a pretty lousy month for Jimi all the way around. God, I wish someone could have taken him to an island for a couple months. Sad.☹️
I can't thank all of you enough .... The whole crew who made this !! This series has filled a huge void. wish you could link up w Hendrix LLC. ...and do a few 'post' episodes. anyway, it's been a beautiful ride... THANKS A MILLION.....ROCK ON !!
Thanks for the post. That chick again. He's going to marry her. And Monica too. Surprisingly, Clapton said posthumously, " I didn't know why he coldn't have puled himself away from these people." But it sounds like Jimi, instead of doing that did dope and drained himself while the travels went on. And Billy being spiked certainly didn't help the band environment. He was looking for a grounding but all the while doping up while looking. Tragic.
RU-vid is not letting my comments through, even though there is nothing untoward about them. Thank you anyway, Belly Button Window, for this amazing episode!
I've noticed this series building through time but this was my first listen. OUTSTANDING! It's very thorough and well-written. Great selection of details. Excellent pictures and narration. You really get a feel of the man burning on re-entry, of his body and maybe spirit breaking down. He seemed clearly physically compromised and I'm wondering what will come up in part 2 as he goes to London for his last two weeks. I'll definitely go back and start this from the beginning. I'm also curious to find any bootlegs from these last shows, as a couple of them seem really inspired. A sad tale but there is also some triumph as well for this hard-working musician and artist. One of the great losses for rock n roll but immense gifts were given. Peace.
I heard twice you saying he was 25 and not sure hel live to 28? Did you mean 27 instead of 25? Jimi was 27 in Sep 1970. looking forward to part 2! peace
Rock music is a loosely defined term for music of that era. I don't know if anyone can clearly state when the term Rock and Roll transitioned to Rock or so-called Hard Rock. But I do believe that Jimi's music falls within that time frame and as early as the Beatles mid to late periods. But for my money, The Who, clearly defined the Rock era and The Experience and The Who were contemporaries and some would say rivals.
Warms my heart when he called him Arthur Lee a brother .JIMI 25 in that interview that journo meant 26 .Or 27, for Jimi to take a sleep in tab During the day I'd say a bit of anxiety may be or he had no weed .
This has been a fantastic series , so well researched, Can't wait for the next episode and see which version of Jimi's death is given the most credence - Monica Danneman's fantasy version, the recent Mike Jeffries murder story or what actually happened as detailed in the book, ' Hendrix - the final days' as evidenced by the hospital and ambulance driver's reports. Somewhere on RU-vid is an interview with the Canadian lady, now in her '70s who was one of the 2 girls along with the Hon Philip Harvey who were with Jimi that Thursday afternoon. That story was buried until Harvey's father's death as she was sworn to secrecy. He was frightened of his father knowing he was so closely connected to what what would have been considered a scandal if his father found out he was smoking weed with Jimi just a few hours before he died. Monica was not even at the flat when the ambulance arrived and by then, Jimi was dead. The only reason they gave him CPR en route was that only a qualified doctor can certify death and they were legally obliged to carry out this procedure until they got to the hospital even though both ambulance men knew it was futile. men
Or Eric burden's account. he said he talked to her on the phone a couple times. and he told her to call a ambulance. Eric is still alive to tell the story.
@@tomh1593 Yes, that's right but her main fear was that the flat was full of drugs. We cannot know if Jimi had any chance of survival if she had acted promptly and not panicked but what is documented is that by the time the ambulance arrived the flat was empty and he had been dead for some time. The official time of death was the one at the hospital when the surgical team discontinued any attempt at resuscitation but that was a legal formality. As for the Mike Jeffries murder theory, what is a fact is she was with him that night before she disappeared after clearing out the flat of drugs in the morning and she was such a flake there's no way she could have been a witness or a party to any murder without breaking and giving the game away upon questioning, either by the police or at the inquest.
@@simonblock5362 if a murder had happened she would have spilled the beans. Michael Jefferies was long dead so there is no one that could have harmed her etc. And I don't for minute think that Jefferies would have confessed to anything like that. It's nonsense. besides she would have be eliminated years earlier to keep her quiet.
This is a nice exchange between the two of you. If you haven't done so already, may I please suggest that you visit the site of "The Jimi Hendrix Record Guide" and call up the pages there entitled "The death of Jimi Hendrix" and "Mike Jeffery" respectively? The first contains a link to the second. It's probably the most meticulous account of Jimi's death I've ever read. It also includes analyses of what happened thereafter and roundly debunks the murder theory that you mention.
He looks so wasted tired in the last year....jim needed a whole year off to fix himself....this is very obvious.....had he gotten it....things may have played out different
