@@startedtech those were the rare exceptions, and only for the later VideoNow color and XP models. I had one of the originals, and god, the b&w tiny screen was dreadful. I quickly upgraded to the color and eventually XP and i was the better for it
I like to listen to RU-vid videos to sleep, I’ve learned that DankPods is NOT a sleep youtuber. Woke up in a cold sweat from this guy screaming “JIVE POD™️” like he’s murdering the damn thing. Love your videos, Wade!
Every time you scream in the microphone I freaking lose it. Especially the "AAs" and "AAAs". Keep it up you're such a funny and entertaining content creator.
The Lion Mark is a UK toy safety standard and it seems like Tiger took it seriously, given that the JIVE POD!! stood up to a gritting. Not to be confused with the Lion Mark for eggs, which is a totally different lion who says that the eggs don't have salmonella.
Thing is, a rhythm game where you can choose the music and it makes up a gameplay loop on the fly is pretty cool as an idea. You just need...actual hardware to do it. Hell Vib Ribbon on PS1 did that years before this...thing.
There was an awesome rhythm game for the iPod called "Phase" - it had great graphics, and was _painfully_ addictive. (And no wonder - it was made by Harmonix, the company that made Guitar Hero and Rock Band) This game is one of the reasons I still use an old version of iTunes - because it's the only way to get it to sync properly. I hope most people who wanted an iPod game experience bought Phase instead of wasting money on the *JIVE POD™*
This seems like something I would have received as a gift from my grandparents as a kid. A moderately entertaining novelty for about an hour that you never use again after a day or two.
Your videos are hazardous man. I was eating dinner, and when you suddenly shouted “JIVE POD” I was not expecting it, and I nearly choked on my food from suddenly laughing so hard.
bro i've been watching since 1 subs back then I thought "really so he makes video about just ipods ? That's a really weird type of genre, BUT it's gonna blow up". And man out of the orange he was gaining subscribers like crazy
The second you mentioned rhythm heaven I went and frantically searched for my old ds and preceded to play 3 hours of rhythm heaven then remembered I never finished your video, thank you for reminding me of such a great game!!
I have ADHD so it's hard for me to watch reviews most of the time as they bore me and all that but dankpods I can watch with out any problems as he is funny, chaotic and Interesting and I just enjoy it.
Listening with headphones in just to relax and enjoy. Look away for a minute, expected the AAA, but nearly dropped my drink with JIVE POD. Good lord lol.
Thank you for unlocking the rhythm heaven memory in from the depths of my brain. I've been a fairly competent muso for around 12 years now but that game was impossible. I cry.
For real. Had a lame work day that started at 5:30am and it felt good to get home and watch some dankpods. Also that other thing going on in Eastern Europe has been bringing me down.
I think the reason the timing window is so big is because the bpm detection of the *JIVE POD* is so bad. So by making the detection inaccurate, you can still tap when the beat feels right for you and get some semblance of gameplay. I mean, you may also just tap on the desk or your thigh with your fingers for the same or actually better experience.
I genuinely thought he was gonna hit it with a drum stick when he said he was going to "play" along to it. Would have loved to see it fly apart into a million pieces
the attention to detail with the electronic twitter just 10 secs in is so beautiful and hilarious and is just one of the many reasons why I love this channel
Thank you for always screaming at me about amazing feats of technological engineering hahaha You're the best man! I've got my girlfriend heavily invested in Frank, as she loves snakes. One of our shared memes is "Frank because Thank". Hope your week is going good 🙌🏼
The pure joy that sparked in my heart when he mentioned rhythm heaven (the objective best game series to ever exist) was definitely not something I was expecting for my Thursday afternoon!
Clearly, it is his years in drum academy that have mastered his innate ability to smash those fingy boot ons. I am looking forward to when DankPods(TM) finally turns his car into an impromptu drumkit. I wonder if there would be anything to rival the dirty cymbal...
It's a Pavlovian response now when you're watching a Dank Pods video and you see there's audio output involved - you expect to hear some extra - crunchy Scarlet Fire.
HOLY COW, seeing that thumbnail dragged up some memories so old, I forgot I'd forgotten them, and hearing the song again when he pressed the center was another smack of nostalgia to the brain lol. I just might have this thing laying around my old room stil!!
This really helped me... There's war 300km away, basically the way from my town to our capital city in our small country. The war isn't here, but it's from people that held us under Communism for so long and it's so close to us... That's really depressing.
I'm also watching dankpods because they're one of the only channels that manage to somewhat keep my mind occupied. I have family and friends in Ukraine. Today has been awful. Stay strong
I like how he forgot the "that's it" part do he quickly just recorded it while editing really shows the dedication he will have to make everything perfect
I would love to see this guy play a bunch of modern and classic rhythm games. IDK if he's done any on stream/in a video before since I'm pretty new to this channel, but I'd still love to see it.
I love the slow progression of this channel from emphasizing capitalized words, to editing in yelling them, to full blown fanatically screaming them every single time.
Thank you for actually making a vid on this piece of recycling. I bought one of these when they came out way back then. I have no idea how it worked and it eventually just disappeared. I still have that exact same cable it comes with but the nugget is just gone
I loved those lcd games back in the day. I had a Podracer LCD game from Star Wars. You could win money and buy upgrades and stuff. And another one from Star Wars that had an accelerometer where you had to move the thing from left to right to move the submarine/vehicle. Some of the old ones are pretty bad tho lol.
The original concept is pre neat imo. A device or application that can parse your music and generate a rhythm map, albeit probably simplified, based on the waveforms or something seems like a cool idea
Vib ribbon look it up, it's a cool PS1 rhthmn game that does just this. The way it does it is the entire game is loaded onto ram and you can take the disc out and put in your own CDs to play music, and the game will turn it into a level. Because it had to fit entirely onto the PS1's ram it has some cool wireframe visuals too to save on space.
@@nesyboi9421 That's incredible. And the game came out in 1999!? Feels very ahead of it's time. Checked it out and the limited visuals give it a kind of stylized look. I dunno what it is but there's a charm about the game. Now I really want a modern remake of Vib-Ribbon or someone to make a similar game. Thank you for telling me about this hidden gem!!
