This is easily one of the most charming games ever made, the war planes going over when you come home at Christmas etc.

I just started a play through of this. It’s such a good game and makes me so mad that 2k Czech didn’t develop Mafia 3.

Mafia 2 is easily one of my most favourite games of all time, definitely Top 3. I have so many fond memories of this incredible game. The brilliant characters, phenomenal story, awesome music, great gameplay, graphics that still hold up today, and the rich immersive world. Mafia 2’s open world feels more alive and lived in than most modern games do. The feeling of this is really helped by the attention to detail. I would love to see a remaster/remake of Mafia 2 with all the cut content added to the game, or a Mafia 4 that’s made with the same love and care that went into Mafia 2.

You know, I bought Mafia 2 in 2016 because I saw my friends playing it and I was like ''Wow I kinda like these cars and graphics!'' Yes, that's what I thought about the game at first. So when I bought it and finally got a chance to play it myself I was so overwhelmed that the game is actually way better than just some cars. I spent nights and nights playing the game and I enjoyed every moment. I didn't ''speedrun'', I took my time to really appreciate each detail, whether it was a NPC falling on ice. I immediately fell in love with the game and I started to love 40's and 50's. When I drove I, again, took as much time as I could because Empire Central radio was literally rocking. I remember driving an old Shubert and listening to Bing Crosby before chapter six AND Potomac Indian and Buddy Holly after. It felt special. I even became interested in that age, I started listening to rock 'n' roll, blues and jazz and I wasn't ashamed. I even made a presentation about 'The day the music died' for my English lessons. Mafia 2 gave me something more than just a game you play for fun once or twice, it actually, yet weirdly, became a part of my life. I do not think that I would be interested in this type of music etc if it weren't for Mafia. I agree if you think I'm a wee bit mental since I wrote literally an essay about a videogame. It's just special..for me. 2kCzech did a pretty good work. Thank you for your time reading this, it means a lot

Played this game when it came out but I was a kid so I forgot what the story was about. I bought it again last month and I felt empty because of the fact that they don’t make games like this anymore.

You forgot the most important feature. The collectables are playboy magazines. Never have I ever been so insentivised to collect them all

I remember back in 2010 or whenever it was I downloaded the demo of Mafia 2 and after finishing it I went out and bought the game straight away.

Can we talk about how amazing those graphics were for 2010, in my opinion it looks better than RDR1 which came out the same year

Considering when this game is 10 years old, it still looks great. Honestly one of the best games ever made. Good story, good graphic ( still stands up to this day in my opinion) and alot of attention to detail with world feeling alive, the music and atmosphere of it all. I've had so much fun with this game back on ps3 and pc.

No game has truly made me care about its characters, keep at the edge of my seat, and immerse me so much int its gameworld like mafia 2. The games writing and story is excellent and takes all the twisted turns without feeling cheap or like something youd expect to happen.

The more u talk about non-Ubi games, the more I appreciate your content. These last few videos have all been great, keep it up!

doesnt excuse the fact that it had a shit load of cut content, ( more chapters,side missions,more vehicles,melee weapons etc.) it could've been bigger and better than GTA 4, sucks that it was rushed in development

I couldn’t believe Henry worked for the feds, I went on a killing spree wasting all my ammo just to find out he was a rat.

As a Czechs, we are proud that this Masterpiece came from Czechia. If you would ask a czech gamer "Whats the greatest game from his county?", it would be 100% Mafia 2. But as the studio fell apart at the end of development, we are disappointed we can't call that The Mafia series our anymore. In Czech gaming comunity, there is still many catchphrase that lives in many hearts of Czechs. In my opinion, the czech dabing of this game perfectly fits into this game.

The mechanics of separating the city in Mafia 3 were actually kinda cool and I felt like the rest of the gang were living, breathing people

Yeah, I was and still am impressed with this game! The driving and the general interaction with cars is just amazing! Rockstar could take some pointers from this franchise in that area. I also love the brief tie-in with Mafia 1 where Vito and Joe kill an old man at his house, that old man was the protagonist in Mafia 1! And then you look back at how nonchalant, quick and simple it was for you guys to take him out vs all the work that went into playing through Mafia 1. Just brilliant game design!

I played a bunch of story driven games over the years but something about Mafia ll just doesnt compare to anything else, I love that game, I only wish we knew what the other Mafia lll story would of been like

For how much content was cut from this game its amazing that the final product turned out this well. I can say without a doubt this is my favorite game of all time, not the best I've ever played but just a personal favorite.

I remember playing the demo back in 2010 before buying it, and it has since become one of my favorite games of all time. I dunno what it is: the nostalgia of the winter portion always captured me, and the progression of Vito/Joe throughout the game made it feel like you were with them the whole way. It was this game that originally got me to love the 40s/50s era, and I think I'm afraid to admit how many times I've played it. Me and my close friends still make inside jokes only Mafia fans would get: "WE'RE COMIN' FOR YA PORKY!" to name one xD. Thanks for the video!

I was so convinced that I didn't even finish the video yesterday. I've always heard good things about this game but never tried it, it brought me back to some good old day games feeling, when games were focused on a compelling story and atmosphere, just like how the nineties and 2000s action and crime movies were solid movies. I became a PS4 exclusives games fan lately and I missed good PC games, I wonder what other great games out there, horizon zero dawn and the last of and detroit becoming human have raised my bar lately, but this game is on par I came back just to thank you for this awesome recommendation!

I find the fact that the police actually react to you pulling over and also forming road blocks and other things an amazing thing about the game in its self. I wish more games put more detail in how police react to your actions instead of just mindlessly shooting at you for knocking a police car slightly

I really enjoyed Mafia 2 that I just did a back-to-back play-through . Its a 10hr campaign, sure but its 10hr of being involved in a movie where the attention to detail in the environment which make it super immersive makes those 10hrs feel fulfilled.

Man, for some elusive reason I can't quite put my finger on, I keep coming back to this gem of a game.

For a game that was heavily rushed, its one of my favroite. Many of the things you complained about were due to rushing. Their was supposed to be a taxi service and their was suposed to be mutiple endings and much more content. You were even suposed to be able to buy cars and houses at one point. Its a shame really, had so much more potential. Imagime a universe with a mafia with its intended development schedule.

Mafia 2 is my christmas game. I mean like peapole are used to watch "home alone" or "poral express", I'm plaing mafia 2 every christmas scince 2014 when i got it as a christmas gift, and every time I'm finding some new detail. That story, that characters that atmosphere are fenomenal and I think there will never be a game like this any more

That bug where everything turns blue can be weird but if you just drive toward the street it will go away.

It was such a captivating story and world! The protagonist Vito, makes us feel like we are going on his journey and feeling what he’a feeling through the game. And it really makes the moments where disaster strikes for Vito feels so gut wrenching

This is one of my favorite games. THIS was a childhood game that I have never failed of coming back to. That alone should show how close I hold this game to me. I love it and all of the memories it reminds me of when I was a youngster.

I was 10 years old when I first played this game when it came out. When i got a little older I replayed it and understood it and liked it even more. It now is and always will be my favorite game ever. Great story, great characters and makes you feel like your in the 1940s-50s

One of my favourite games of all time I played though it at least 4 times when i was a teenager and the story still sticks with me. That and the world is just a wonderfully realised adaptation of the time period and delightful to be a part of.

This just randomly popped up in my recommended but I don't mind. I absolutely love this game, it's the first game I bought when I got a laptop. It barely ran but man was it fun. The story is great and really hooked me in. Probably one of if not my favorite game to date.

I first picked up Mafia 2 in about 2010 around Christmas for Xbox after playing with someone else on it. My first play through of it was phenomenal and laid the foundation for years of love of the game. That was however the first game I ever played and it’s hard to appreciate how good it was with no other experience. Around late 2014/early 2015, I found myself watching a play through of the game on a channel here on RU-vid. That of course set the ball rolling for wanting to play again. However the disk was quite scratched, due to my poor storage of games at the time, leading to a very corrupt map of Empire Bay, so that stops me in my tracks. Another year goes by, it’s 2016 and Mafia 3 is due out at the end of the year. At this point I owned a PC, so I picked it up on steam and completed my second play through, bringing back memories. I then replay it later that year. After the let down of Mafia 3, I again twice in 2017 and once more in 2018. I was going to play once more in December just gone after hearing let it snow on the radio - one of my favourites from the soundtrack, however I went on a trip to NYC, so that cut that off. I think after this, I may end up replaying it again at some point.

I loved this game. Definitely the best story I’ve played I my gaming years. It made me appreciate this era of time and almost want to be a part of it, when I never considered it to be great before playing it. I love this video! Thank you

I actually experienced the slow motion gameplay on the Xbox 360 back in the day. For some reason, it kept happening over and over to a certain play through. Since it was semi early on in the story though, I just scrapped the save and moved on. Thought you might like to know that. Good video, man.

2K Czech really get the fame they deserves with so many videos who talks about Mafia II recently, i really hope they are the one who makes Mafia IV

This is my favorite game of all time, I remember playing this for the first time a year after it came out and I was only 11 (Now being 20). I’ve always gone back multiple times to this game cause I love everything about it so much. The story, music, characters, gameplay, etc. Mafia 2 means a lot to me and I will always love it for what it is, and I definitely gotta thank and love 2K Czech, I felt like they put so much love, effort and support on making this game and nowadays developers don’t really do that or do what 2K Czech did. I was very disappointed with Mafia 3 but I went back to Mafia 2 and once again wasn’t disappointed at all. Love love love this game and I recommend it to anyone who hasn’t played it.

This is a game I've replayed a few times growing up, still holds up and is personally one of my favourites, last time I replayed it, I had a Ps Now sub and Mafia 2 was on it, so naturally I went for the platinum.

I love Mafia II so much I come to it whenever I can! I played it like 10 times already, whole story. I want to do it one more time but now as I am adult and I have work and my work is truck driving, I don't really have much time to do it and when I do, I'm just too tired. Miss those days when I was a kid!

I agree with you. The attention to detail was amazing in Mafia 2. For an example the radio stations. The radio hosts would say things about the recent events that happened in the city including the things you have done in the missions. Also I liked one part where the host at Empire Central Radio literally thought that the cigarettes causing cancer was a joke. Quite a lot of people thought like that in the 50s. And that's one of the small nice details that I could find in Mafia 2.

Easily one of the most underrated games ever. Critics shit on it because it wasnt GTA, now finally people are starting to discover it and enjoy it and it makes me sooo happy, i dont even know how many times ive played it but ive at least ran through it 2 times a year since its release and i love it every time♥️thank you for making this video

The Hotel Mission where you disguise yourself and bomb the building is one of my favorite missions in gaming history.

Out of all the games I played since 1999, Mafia 2 and Mafia 1 is still my all-time favourite game in my whole life, as the story and attention to details still sticks to me. Can't wait to buy the Trilogy later this year

I played this a fair while ago and finished it. I loved it to bits but I think the coolest thing that mafia pioneered in gaming was tyre roll physics. I love that they even thought of it in the first place!

This game was really good. I played it with the Playstation Now free trial and I was in love with it. The characters, it's environment, the details, the music. I felt really homesick about it while playing it and I'm not even from the 40's or 50's

Hands down my all-time favourite game. Biggest reason differs from your list greatly. It's simply the fact that I love 40's and 50's. I could spend (and frankly, did) hours and hours just driving around, soaking in the atmosphere. Pop in the diner to get a hamburger, go to the shop to get some more casual threads and hit the restaurant for a nice cup of coffee. All the while blasting Bing Crosby's best evergreens. Some may say I'm delusional, but for me being able to explore different era and be a part of it, is beyond words in awesomeness. I think even if the story would have been crap, I would still have spend vast amounts of time with this game. Then when you add the brilliant story, unique characters, great mission design and all the other perks you said... Voilá. Maybe it's time to replay it once again..

One of my favorite things about Mafia 2 were the collectible Playboy magazines. If more open world games had nudie magazines as collectibles I'd have no complaints. I felt driven getting 100% in Mafia 2 because of those magazines.

Funny enough, three days ago, I started playing this game again. An absolute pleasure to play it again. This time on hard 👊🏼

I remember hearing about Henry's death as well as Vito's house burning down on the radio a couple minutes after those events while playing the mission. Another example of how awesome this game is and its attention to detail

I actually liked the driving in Mafia II, it was nice strolling around in a nice 50s era car seeing Empire Bay. Especially the transition from the 40s to 50s and the city changed too.

The story was so compelling and raw 9.8/10. A true Classic 🔥🔥
