LOVED my goodwin street single on my last NC it was perfect for the street, but little too quiet at the track! I bet this is a great compromise because the race single on its own is very loud, but for my track NC i love it.
Installed the Goodwin straight pipe four years ago along with Catted ceramic header and super Q muffler.. perfect tone hammer down and quiet when you want it quiet.
This is the best axleback for this car. Loud race single and no drone. Mine is all stock headers and mid pipe and it still sounds good. Good to hear headers can be modified and mid pipe left stock to have a good tone.
Just out curiosity, what are the approximate dimensions of your chamber. My calculations for my car have me at roughly 15" w 5.5" and your chambers seems to be roughly that size give or take.
Hey I was thinking of getting this done but none of the shops seem to want to make one of these for me (let alone even know what it is). I was wondering if I could just use a vibrant 12” bottle resonator and just have them cap that off. Also would the packing help with reducing drone or muffling sound in this sort of configuration or is a hollow chamber preferred? I did actually want to reduce overall volume as well.
did you ever do it. i was wondering the same. after researching more i was thinking the resonator would stop the science behind it bouncing back into the exhaust.
@@robertpurvis6106unfortunately not as I didn’t have the time or money to keep experimenting. I ended up doing the safe thing which was getting a valved muffler. Surprisingly I found that the valved muffler actually uses Helmholtz design and when the valve is open I get somewhat straight piped but absolutely no drone.
@@Dnasty1 you know what I was going to do a valvetronic before I did a muffler delete. I see how that could be like a Helmholtz. They honestly are pretty affordable. I was thinking it would easier than the 1/4 wave experiment. Good to hear it didn’t drone.
@@ZentRose Nice! I’m definitely doing the good win 1.8 catless header and I was going to do the street single but after hearing this maybe I’ll just get the race HemHoltz. It doesn’t sound like it vibrates or rattles which is nice. I heard header and street single and there was a little bit of rattle.
@@FreshYoungDude I did that 1.8 catless header, the gwr Helmholtz midpipe and super q muffler on my NC2 soft top. Same balance, only you have the ability to tune the muffler via baffles. It's pretty loud with no baffles, not terrible almost tame with both baffles in. On my other NC I'm just about to install catted GWR header and Helmholtz midpipe with stock muffler. It's a PRHT NC2, which trend to be acoustical vessels for drone, hence I'm experimenting with that setup.
