As an American, I am enthralled by British culture. In America, we don't "value", nor show our politicians, the same respect that people worldwide show Her Majesty. God Save The Queen!
The queen is not a politician she is a monarch, she doesn’t rule she reigns, she doesn’t govern she is sovereign. We don’t need to respect politicians in America if they don’t deserve them. The queen on the other hand is human yet touched by divinity
@Janet Johnson no one said anything about her not having class - it's just the difference in what we would call a garden. it just sounds funny (no disrespect) the word backyard when referring to the queens garden because a backyard sounds like a small patch of grass with a fence and maybe a swingset if its big enough lol
Queen Elizabeth ll is a shining example of duty, loyalty and honour. She is truly a wonderful amazing woman, who has withstood many storms and dangers with class, elegance and a deep, abiding love for her country and her people. She’s not always on the mark and occasionally gets a little lost in the way things were done in the past which can create issues with her subjects but when you have lived as long as she has, this is bound to happen. She DOES try to stay current, and I honestly adore her for it and I for one cannot imagine the world without her in it. God bless Queen Elizabeth.
Αt 4:19 the secretary says that the garden is attended by people who deserve to be there and the camera shows an elder lady 🧓 licking her middle finger 😂
I am an American, Mexican- American. But I love royalty. Anything to do with with whatever Royal Household. Its very interesting. I love the British Monarchy, it has rich tradition and also some interesting history. I am a History major so anything to do with history Im all for it. Also my name is Elizabeth. Sharing a name with Her Majesty is a privilege and Honor. May God bless the Queen and Long Live the Queen!!
God save our gracious Queen Long live out Nobel Queen God save the Queen Send her victorious Happy and glorious Long to reign over us God save the Queen 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Buckingham Place is open to the public but only over the Summer months.and the tour lasts 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes and costs £9:50p per person but family tickets are available for around £24:00. Well worth a view if you are ever visiting London !
+SyndexAwesome I see your point in general. But not here, boy! I mean she did quite a good job, didn't she? Very kind, sympathic, modest... Sure a certain shiness and insecurity here and there, but hell, how would you feel being about to met the longest serving monarch on the planet?! Also acting cheesy isn't just an American media phenomenon, its a "media-phenomenon". And since you're kind of talking down from your high horse here, I think its no secret that especially the British press is one of the most aggressive and hysteric once in the world. So yes, American mentality and with that its media tends to hysteria, but speaking as a "foreign observer" here don't necessarily make the mistake to think the British does not at all!
Americans! she closes the door which is his job as the greeter, and then gives him a arm hug, normally reserved for family or close friends not an employee. Her silly question, it got a little crazy?? cringe
Donna Jackson That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm European as well. I think Americans just let loose more. And that can be a good thing sometimes. Many people say that the British are cold though. I think Katie Couric was a little nervous, but also purposefully trying to bring in some laid back Americana to the butler, the whole thing. I think she was nervous and a little overwhelmed by the grandeur and pomp of the place. Americans are also not used to seeing castles and old well furnished buildings like this one. Europeans see old fashioned architecture everyday. For Americans, it's something new and exciting, almost intimidating-also a right of passage. "They been to Europe.." How many Europeans on the other hand over glorify the U.S. and everything about it?!!! Many, very many. Even one's who don't want to admit it. Each one wants something they don't have....rather than being content with where they are. Also wanted to say that in the summer the West is filled with Europeans from all over coming to see the American landscape. It's amazing...also because they don't have to pay in euros ; ). That's what a lady from Switzerland told me.
+ellamae yeah I'm an American myself we have dollars instead of euros. Also our country has a beautiful landscape here in America one of those places we have is the Grand Canyon in which I've been there myself. Plus I am an American military brat so I have gone to and seen about 36 of the US states. And I've lived in America for most of my life since I was born in Japan due to my father being in the military. But when your in our country you would defiantly see most Americans have different accents throughout the entire country depending on where you are in the United States. The New England states has a different accent than the people in New York City and in the Southern United States has a totally different accent than the people in Chicago. I've lived in four of the 36 states I've been to which are Virginia, North Carolina, Arizona, and California. I live in Virginia today about one hour drive south of Washington, DC. I actually live in the area where our first president George Washington had grew up mainly where I live we have Washington's childhood home and Washington got the stones that he brought to DC to build the two most famous buildings in our capital which is the White House and the Capital Building that to is located right near my house today.
gordywestmids I saw that comment of his as well, and was wondering the same thing. People don't understand that most of the royal items on display are gifts. Those gifts may have come from other kingdoms, or colonies of the British. This is why there is historic antique, and sometimes ancient items from all over the globe for display at royal venues.
(continued) considered as a founder of the Spanish branch of the House of Savoy. The House of Savoy has many titles such as King of Italy, King of Spain, King of Sardania, King of the Albanians, Duke of Savoy, Count of Savoy, Emperor of Ethiopia, King of Armenia, King of Cyprus, King of Croatia, and King of Jerusalem.
You are lucky to have a queen and a stable monarchy to balance out politics and interests and to serve as check and balance. Democracy elsewhere is a flawed system
If you want hard line protocol the Queen should speak first but seeing as Katie was being introduced to the Queen anyway i'm sure the Queen couldn't have cared less. I did see a programme featuring some old time friends of the Queen who said that although she maintains the old protocol she doesn't really care if people don't bother with it. Times have changed and she knows it.
I love The Queen more than my own Queen, Queen Maxima, who is just a common woman by birth. Her Majesty The Queen is rightfully Souverain of The United Kingdom. She has class and grandeur naturaly and not by buying expensive dresses.
America is huge and we have beautiful architecture. It's about going to the right places. And I don't quite like the comment about no class. We just don't have a monarchy. I can say that most Americans admire the magnificence of the U.K. Visit sometime! You'll see that we love visitors and have our own traditions and customs believe it or not!
Daniel Flood very true! I'm britidh but I think american architecture is also fantastic. but I also love british architecture. over 5000 years to be correct.
Not the US as a country, but the people within it do... The British or any Europeans did not discover America. Native Americans did such as Choctaw, Cherokee, etc. They most certainly have tradition and history that go back farther than 1000 years.
I think this reporter did a good job! She was nice, friendly and respectful. I don't know why you all expect her to be very fancy, she was very excited to meet the queen I'm sure! Just leave her alone guys.
lol the place is huge and thus runs like a machine - there's a lot of staff that live on site, as well as royals, who go beyond just Phillip and Her Majesty.
Chazza534 The staff and management there are very highly trained. They need qualifications hospitality and customer service, organisational skills, preparation for state occasions, and cleaning and maintenance of the palace itself etc. They work for the master of the household department. There is ongoing training and support during carrying out duties. Imagine a luxury hotel but much bigger standards.
I've ALWAYS wondered.... how long does The Queen spend Farding in her bathroom each morning? Definition: Fard (verb): to apply cosmetics to (the face).
Dancing Spiderman You know...I wonder that as well. How long it takes her to get ready in the morning. Obviously she has a staff to coordinate her day with what she will wear/look with what she will be doing. I just wonder if she takes much interest in it and how much time is spent. Good question!
I thought the proper etiquette was for the Queen to address you first before you speak, but it seems that Katie was the first to say hello. Which is correct?
"Nothing crazy happens in Buckingham Palace..We do very respectful parties." 2:00 An eloquent answer to a silly remark of the American TV presentor who was not up to that critical coverage..
@@gggggggggggggggggg161 you've been able to do tours inside Buckingham palace for years now. And when i was 11, i did that tour. Don't say anything about something that you no nothing about
