From the brilliant Netflix series: The Crown Cute, like seven year old, princess Elizabeth was asked by her Eton professor and personal tutor about the monarchy role in government. Was it the efficient or the dignified. Bright small child correctly answered: dignified. What a ten out of ten wonderful monarch that Britain has had the last 70ish years. We're all human. She has served so well!
God save the queen! She's definately a remarkable woman. Thank God for giving her the strength & fortitude to serve all these years. I almost can't believe that I've been blessed to be here during her reign. God bless & keep them all!
Best wishes for the Jubilee: With respect to England, remembering my father J. M. Blíženec who studied with Mr. Charles d`Goule at the elite Military Academy in Saint Cyrus near Paris and were good friends with the aunt of Mr. Winston Churchill I wish you a lot of luck in your further political steps and lots of love in your family life. We trust the English people we are going to trust them in future. The Vignati`s family, Podlesí 13, 624 00 Brno, Czech Republic
Not all Americans are stupid. I love the British Monarchy and I hope it continues for the rest of my life and beyond. I might live in America, but the monarchy has my love, my support, and my loyalty. I hope the British people will keep supporting the Monarchy even after something happens to Queen. The USA can't survive without their mother country.
Australians have some work to do - deciding what system they want. It's well-known that the Queen accepts that you guys may not want your association with the Crown much longer. But you've got to start thinking it through! We love the Queen very much - but that's because we're Poms and grew up with her. She's a nice woman - and she can have as many palaces, castles and paintings as she likes, as far as I'm concerned. People are obsessed with fairness and equality, What matters is justice.
You also mention a President IS elected, so is our Goverment, we still have huge costs keeping them, they pay themselves millions, plus a lot we don't know about probably, so that is obvious Electing would not work. I am proud of the fact we have a Monarchy, because it's British, and there isn't much left of British-ness these days, it's either been privatised or shut down. We would be finished without the Royal Family, like it or not.
Yes I agree. I was actually surfing the net and tv guides to see if it was going to be aired on BBC, ITV or maybe Sky during the Jubilee weekend but nope. Such a shame.
Seems we don't mix with similar people! I've had many conversations with any number of people who feel as I.I get that you feel quite passionately about this and I applaud you for that.In the same way that I feel equally passionate about my views.Which is part of what makes our Nation great.
Hello moon, a Happy Wednesday for you Is strange, however is real The majority of the scottish want the SN Party and simultaneously they want the Union Jank and loves their Royal Family
You are free to leave this country anytime you like, it's people like you, who would if given the chance, split this country up. What do you hate so much about the Monarchy, and if we got rid of it...What then? A President? Who will live in the Palace and cost far more to keep. You have to have a head of State. Also are you born, work and live in the U.K?
You don't pay your taxes to "these wealthy aristocrats" you pay it to the Government of the UK. What goes to them of your taxes is voted and agreed upon by the officials you elect. Most of what goes to any of their up keep is to restore and maintain houses that are part of your country's history.
The monarchy will never be voted out of the UK because the UK would never be able to recognize themselves with it out. They are so a part of the national identity, so a part of what makes the UK the UK, that it would be like severing a limb. For as many people who claim that they don't want it there are even more who do.
Scotland will have a vote on "leaving" the U.K. or not, people on the streets have been asked...and so far...the majority want to stay together..that result is with no influence from the BBC or any other high personality of this country. Anyway, I think it's fair to say..you have your view, and I have mine.
Well, your entitled to your opinion, it does'nt mean everyone thinks the same way, It is a good thing the Queen can disolve Goverments and Prime Ministers, otherwise dictatorship could take place, then we would have only one power..The dictator, but as it stands if needed, the Queen can get rid of the lot of them,if she so wished or the people.
That's fair enough, I do remember being told once that, Hitler had dinner with the Queen in Buckingham Palace, then a few months later we were at war with him..lol..never made sense of it.
Hello moon beam, a happy Tuesday for you The majority of the people in Scotland loves their Queen Elzabeth II Only 3 or 4 peoples will vote: YES the independence in 2014 The majority of the scottish peoples will vote: NOT the independence and YES the Royal family
Sure - Prince Charles is the heir to the throne, so yeah. The monarchy is a much stronger institution than many people expect it to be. Stronger because people in England are comfortable with it. That counts for a lot because it offers us stability.
The BBC has the same story so check it out there. The NDP currently has zero seats in the Bundestag under a proportional representation system. That presumably means a smaller share of the vote than 13.4%. The French parliamentary elections have just been held and the far right won 2 out of 577 seats with Marie le Pen (who got a significant protest vote in the presidential election) losing her seat.
god save the queen! i like this doc because it show all truth about the queen and the monarchy and clear all the miss conceptions about the queen and the monarchy this is also show why the queen is very respectful to her country because she did her duties for 60yrs with real dignity and hard work and for those who don't appreciate or respect her and her hard work its really rude, disrespectful and very shameful! god save the queen!
It was a widespread belief at the last coronation (30% apparently). The european monarchies are basically 3 scandinavian countries plus UK, Spain, Netherlands and Belgium. The Population of europe is 740 million with 157 million under monarchies. Germany, France, Italy, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Iceland and Ireland do quite well in terms of stability, democracy and wellbeing. I suspect the freed east european states. will also do quite well in the future.
(contd').If the government is so confident about what the people want then there's no harm in allowing us to say publically and officially what we do want. The fact that a recent media poll suggested 52% of the population wish to keep monarchy implies that it's not a 'done deal'.Let US speak once and for all.
In a british referendum ,the majority of the people choice monarchy because it is a ancient tradition. However, the future Charles III and Camilla need a very good marketing for preserve an important institution
Hello William a hug for you All the youth and children in the Commonwealth going to love his great King Charles and the great Princess consort ,her royal highness Camilla. Because Charles and Camilla will serve with love their subjects in all the Commonwealth
Hello William a happy Tuesday for you in the modern XXI Century, the people understand a royal divorce, the "adultery" is only the real and genuine love between Charles and Camilla when Diana was the official wife. God blessing the wedding Charles-Camilla since the heaven
R.I.P Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the II. Charles's Beloved Mother. 70 Years Regin on The Throne of The UK and The Commonwealth 1952-2022. Elizabeth 1926-2022. Final resting place at Windsor Castle, down in the Valut of St George's Chapel.
You said "it is far too much of a risk to place total power in the hands of any one person.". If we abolished the monarchy we'd still have a parliamentary system with a prime minister. A prime minister can be ousted by parliament (or their own party) at any time. We'd have something like the Irish system. I think continually quoting extreme examples highlights the threadbare case you put.
Hello moon beam, a happy day for you The majority of the scottish people vote SN Party because the SN government protect the prosperity in Scotland However, the majority of the scottish people loves their Royal Family and they want the Union Jack
Why do you want to change something that works? The Queen is a great woman because she has brought an ancient institution into the modern era. She has created a brand. We'll find out after she has gone whether the monarchy is able to continue. There's no need for a referendum about something that is serving the nation better than anyone could ever have imagined.
Hello William Tyndale, a happy Sunday for you. Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II protect the democracy and the union in the Commonwealth and she want stay in EU with the European prosperity. Only the monarchy prevent the risk of independence in Scotland and Norther Ireland The futures king Charles III (or George VII) and the great princess consort Camilla will preserve the Commonwealth and the Union Jack
Hello moon beam a hug for you The future great king Charles (George VII) will be a good king and all the people in all the Commonwealth will love him The future great princess consort Camilla will be a good wife of a great king
Hello Moon, a happy Tuesday for you The "scots" people will vote in referendum 2014: NOT the independence Because Scotland loves theirs british traditions Scotland and Northern Ireland would be a independents kingdoms in a very very far off future. In the XXI Century, Scotland vote the Union Jack Some peoples hate the Duchess Camilla However , all the youth and children in all the Commonwealth, will love their future great princess consort
So if you were in the armed forces you wouldn't fight for Queen and Country? Would you be willing to fight at all? Do you have a similar indifference to the young men who go to Afghanistan and get killed?
Hello William Tyndale, a hug for you The Prince Charles will be a great King, he will respect the muslums Buddhists and christians peoples in all the Commonwealth and he is very devout and pray in his church
Look put it simply, if you don't agree with the Monarchy that's fine, but people like you always use insulting, and false information as to why we should get rid of them, I agree with some of the Royals who seem not to do anything, but the likes of Charles has given thousands of people the chance to start there own business etc, the Queen alone brings Forty Million pounds of revenue into Britain through tourists, and it's a British thing and I am proud of it..
My point is that the monarchy is not an issue in British national life. We have scores of serious problems as a nation - but this isn't one of them! So, no referendum is called for. In any case I would not vote on principle. I am a subject of the Queen so it would be tantamount to treason to even acknowledge the legitimacy of a referendum.
It's well-known that the cost of the Monarchy to the British state is peanuts. The left never stops banging on about EQUALITY which is a fantasy anyway. If the Queen is going to represent my country then I want her to do it in style - with as many new hats as it takes. Envy of other people's wealth and status has never been one of my hangups. Every day I drive to work past the mansions of the seriously rich. My own place is nothing like them. But the inequality doesn't make me grind my teeth.
I doubt many people see them as a tyrants. I think a lot would agree that they are an unnecessary expense to taxpayers. They are no different to any other family so why treat them better than others.
'Feeble minded' was a bit strong. I must have had a couple of glasses of wine. I know and like many people who are monarchists. I was just trying to put in a bit of balance. A system of hereditary privilege grates with me and with a lot of other people. There is another view on monarchy held by a significant minority and it rarely gets heard. I certainly hope it's not like this when the queen dies. youtube#com/watch?v=pSWN6Qj98Iw
You've met a couple of anti royalists you don't like. I know royalists who are friends and are very nice people. You should respect other people a bit more and address the actual issues.
Thanks you too. The futures king Charles and the great Princess consort Camilla will protect the democracy , , tolerance, liberty, plurality , diversity and respect between muslims and christians in UK
Prince Charles of the House of Windsor would be crowned King Charles III of the United Kingdom if he succeeds Elizabeth II. A constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary form of government is the much better and more preferable than an absolute monarchy.
""SERVED """" THE PEOPLE THE DEFINITION OF SERVICE AND THAT OF SERVING IS DEFINED AS """WORK"" WHAT HAS THE QUEEN DONE IN THE WAY OF WORK?? SHE HASNT WORKED ONE DAMN DAY IN HER ENTIRE LIFE ""'STOP USING THE WORD SERVED THE PEOPLE"" YOU SERVE HER SHE HAS NEVER SERVED YOU!!!
in a far off, Scotland and Northern Ireland will be a independents kingdoms in the Commonwealth with the same kings: Her Majesty Camilla and His Majesty Charles III
well she did what she said she would, I think she is awsome, the royal family bring so much business and tourism to england its not funny, look forward to her carrying on...
" A monarch represents the soul of an entire nation". That's your view. I think once we get above 40% for abolition their position is no longer tenable. You dig back in history for examples - Europe was at war for centuries under monarchies.
You totally ignored the Daily Mail story. What do you think of it? Your implied suggestion that the democratic republics in Europe (the vast majority of countries) are a hairsbreadth from despotism is simply stupid. "If you don't like a monarchy, why not move to a republic" Because I like it where I live and it's my democratic right to make my view known about monarchy or anything else. What do you think of todays Daily Mail story.
Well.. I don't think we're going to agree but I like your spirit. I've enjoyed our discourse but some of your characterizations of anti royalists were a bit unfair. It's not like it's treasonable or something. One of my favourite people is a staunch royalist (I'm not making this up) has an MBE and has met the Queen on a number of occasions. We get on just fine. Neither of us are too bothered that we hold opposite views. Real life is different from the internet.
Thousands of people turned up to cheer the Queen on Sunday when the Thames Pageant took place. The monarchy is more popular than ever, 89% of the population support the monarchy according to new figures. Nobody likes the monarchy? Really? I suggest you go out and speak to some real people and see what they think.
I might fight for my country (not unquestioningly). I certainly wouldn't fight for the queen. I don't see the connection you make between the queen dying and soldiers dying. The queen is an aging monarch, born into a life of unbelievable privilege, with whom I have nothing in common. The soldiers who die and get horribly injured are working class lads, mainly from an underprivileged background, with whom I have a lot in common. See watch?v=ctOHo4RzZEc.
Hello William Tyndale,a huf for you His future Majesty the King Charles , will receive blessings of our god Because he is a good man The great King Charles will be the king of all the muslims and christian in All the Commonwealth
It's a class thing because she's not of royal blood. It's bending the knee to people who are very, very ordinary but have the right parents. You seem to find fault with every democratic system - 50.8% of the vote is a win in a properly conducted election. Opinion poles are no substitute for a proper debate, equal time to both sides then a referendum. But we should wait till Charles is in the job.
Can't wait for one of the monarchy to convert to Buddhism. Then maybe they will accept that they cannot possibly be around forever. Oh yes, I am quite certain that is unlikely as the British identity is a tenacious one. But one really never knows, does one?
Kate, Duchess Of Cambridge, Forced To Curtsy To 'Blood Princesses' Eugenie And Beatrice. - Huffington Post. This is what I mean by an outdated class system.
Hello William a hug for you All the youth and children in the Commonwealth going to love his great King Charles and the great Princess consort ,her royal highness Camilla. Because Charles and Camilla will serve with love their subjects in all the Commonwealth
