The furniture man is not the problem in this case. He already told the woman from the onset that he doesn't deal on locally made furniture except foreign/imported furniture. I think the problem was the lady called Blessing who was to receive the goods, who perhaps fed the woman/customer in abroad with bad reviews simply because she was jealous of not being part of the deal. It's just pathetic that the woman listened to her and forgot that the Furniture man was once described as a good and honest man by herself in the past after the first transaction. Thanks to Judge Funmi for always coming through. I like the judgement!

I see nothing bad of the Sofa, the man didn't make the sofa and he may end up loosing money if he's not able to sell off the sofa... The woman seems to be a Trouble.

This is always the case when you go out of your business line. He told the lady he deals with imported sofas, He wouldn't have accepted to go around for local made because of commission. Her sister down there would have done that,but it seems there is no trust.

This is simply, don't get involved in what you don't know. If you handle imported furniture, focus on that. If the defendant had just connected the local furniture maker and the client, he won't be standing here today.

Always document terms & conditions clearly in writing, with both parties signing. Word of mouth alone is often unreliable in the event of a dispute! The contractor should have sent colour samples first before proceeding with the project! Seems like he also jumped the gun with a hasty delivery prior to approval from the madam. Hopefully, all parties concerned will take away the necessary lessons from this experience.

There was nothing wrong with the sofa except that the plaintiff was misinformed by the sister who was supposed to receive the sofa simply because she was not part of the contract.

I don't know why Honest, Diligent and Good people don't get good jobs like this. My husband is a furniture maker, and he's very good at what he does, but those that patronizes him are those with good taste but price peanuts. My husband has never had any problems with any of his customers before, they're always satisfied with his work but never pay better money. My husband keep managing hoping that one day he will get a better job. Sometimes, they will even get the job and come and give it to my husband as a work man. I pray he will get a direct customers one day. Please petronize my husband and you won't regret it. He's good at what he does

Everyone I had such experience recently.I had a successful 1st transaction and the guy offered to help me source another product but ended up sending a different product from what I pick online. U need to see how he was claiming right and refusing to pick my cls until me sef change my tune so I understand this woman's pain. When something is not ur line don't venture into it cos of little commission that can spoil one's name

This man is a manipulator. First, he said he has contact of furniture makers in Owerri yet he chose people in Lagos. Secondly, the colour is not the same,he did not inform the woman before going ahead with the colour and last she was calling him on 22 to inform him not to go on with the way bill but he refused to pick the calls and went ahead with the way bill.

Courts usually favours the Plaintiffs... But this court is different as they give everyone a chance to express themselves.

You showed him a foreign made sofa n he gave u a locally made sofa. The colors are truly different( light n deep blue) but the sofa is not that bad

Even though this man lost his case but he made a lot more customers in the process. unfortunately this was a good deal that went bad for some reason. written communication in transactions like this is KEY. Lesson learnt - use text messages to confirm important parts of a transaction rather than verbal words, it helps if a dispute arises.
