I would say Kpop is a kind of performing arts focusing on perfection in delivery. It's like we awe at people doing beautifully choreographed circus performance or even well put musicals. When the artists put their best in their performances and breathe with audience, the audience feel the energy of the artists and become in sync with the moment. Kpop music is short, catchy, lots of visual elements and constantly changing. Plus what messages they bring are not decadent but bright and fresh appealing to the younger generation. I think that's where all popular music of the globe should head together, not only Kpop.
There are also many singer-songwriters similar to Adshallen in Korea. However, in Korean families, teenage children have the initiative in TV remote control. Teenagers love K-pop broadcasts and like to cover their dances and post them on TikTok & SNS. In the era of the development of SNS, it seems that they definitely want visual SHOW more.
As a Korean who lived in London in my teen years, I absolutely saw the parallel between K-pop culture in Korea and the football culture in England! Glad to hear the same thing from these guys haha. Best wishes for all that's coming!
As a Korean who grew up in Canterbury, went to a uni in Bristol, and worked in London, I don't really see the similarity. Football in the UK is more... militant and aggressive.
@@Lunafreya_Nox so, I guess, if they are a BOYBAND, they will need to serve solid live instruments . Need to be exceptional to be distinguishable from real bands, I guess . And listenable as well, I guess
@@balladofahomeschooledboy0514no need to yell here. As an Eyekon myself: Please don’t destroy our reputation, this will do more harm than good in the long run. I’m sure Dear Alice will be making good music too.
I don't think their dancing synchronization will be as tight as kpop groups since you need a lot of practice as group for that but they don't need to and I doubt people will care about it anyway. Looking forward to their first performance and see what they have to offer.
You're right: not only do Kpop artists perform to a high standard, so too the audience - they are educated from years of high standards to be keen judges of performance. This is not so evident in western audiences.
Kpop One Direction are going to be huge in the west. This formula for a kpop group is just Chef's Kiss!!! So happy and excited for their debut! I have always been a directioner and this just made me emotional because this group will be this next generations' 1D 🥲🤗 DEAR ALICE, WE ARE READY FOR YOU! 😍
Guys, they are not KPOP. *They are GLOBAL POP Boyband* with sprinkle of Kpop training. It’s good marketing for Dear Alice and SM, both. Dear Alice to make noise in Kpop world and SM to make noise in West Entertainment world. Not complaining, love the two world collides. Hope Dear Alice thriving and success. x
Oh ppl FORGET dear ALICE is BOYBAND not boygroup.. They dnt need to dance all of them would be SINGER like western boyband who originate. Boygroup and girl group only copy of ASIA
It's MUSIC, guys! There's nothing like 'It should be done this way' or something like that. I think mixing pop and kpop culture sounds neat. Who knows!?
I got a good feeling about them, I think they got potential. The music seems nice so far and the guys seem funny and lovely. I have no idea why they are called kpop though, they should be introduced as a british boy band who happened to train a few months under a kpop company and that's it
@@eileencritchley4630 Yes but training under kpop system for a few months doesn't make them a kpop group. Showing their training in a K-pop company is a good tactic to attract K-pop fans tho and it's a good experience for them. They are still a british boy band who will sing in english and live and promote in england/west.
I’m very curious of their official debut idk when but I’m curious of music from them and SM 😁. Also I still don’t like the name for them “Dear Alice” imo 😅
@@ssectorlapYES BECAUSE THEY’RE TARGETING AND GEARED TOWARDS TEENAGE GIRLS, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT SM, THEY AREN’T GONNA HAVE THE SAME IMPACT AS JUSTIN BIEBER, ONE DIRECTION OR THE JONAS BROTHERS…
100 days? Some of the kpop stars were training for years, practicing 14-15 hours a day. Not even in the same league. I wish them luck, every entertainer deserves to succeed if they genuinely want this path of life.
@@sjheenim-lk6vp I meant they started too old. Trainees are sign up to agencies in their early teens eg Jungkook who 13 if I recall correctly. Then they train for years to compete for a place in the agency’s band. These guys got just 100 days. All I’m saying is you all need to stop expecting a Caucasian version of BTS, it’s just not happening because western culture raise kids differently to the east. Plus the Korean music industry has its own business structure. Super fans that organise fan cafes and Ommas that focus on their favourite member, they all contribute to the successful marketing of a group. Taking to social media to proactive promote, defend and even attack enemy sources such as rival group fans. It’s an entire living entity over there and only exists there.
@@ezura4760 they don't start from scratch, they have experience in singing and dancing in theater, musicals, some of them ended performing art academy, they just need to sharpen their skills and teamwork and that will come with time, they can sing and that's what matters 🤷
Btw…. I did notice there’s a lack of guy and girl groups in America and UK. I ALWAYS THOUGHT IF SOMEONE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE K-POP CRAZE THEY WOULD BE REALLY POPULAR!! They need to follow the recipe for success I think. But would love to see other countries have same success!!!
@@BigSM_hater_pinkblood It is very clear, they had their training in Korea but that doesnt make them a KPOP. Just like, you went to Korea to study for CPA, then took the licensure in USA, they are still called CPA, not KPA.
Honestly, the only reason why SM collabed with M&B and made Dear Alice, is because it's part of their SM 3.0 marketing plan, to become more "global". For some reason, the big kpop co.panies has got the idea, that making a Ln international group is a good idea. HYPE and JYP has done the same. It's nothing but buisness 🤷♀️
Louder please. KPOPers and Non-KPOPers doesn’t need to pop their veins to argue. They are not KPOP. They’re POP Boyband with just lil bit sprinkle of Kpop training 😂 Duh ! Hope they thriving tho. Like maybe better syncro and team work than any other west boyband. x
I read several articles in the Korean press which presented a slightly different story. The boys were not embedded in the SM training system (they are not contracted to SM Entertainment as local trainees are), rather they were given tips and ideas on how to improve their performances.
@@Awordforangeleaves No, embed doesn't mean literally the beds they sleep in. Duh. Essentally it means training over a much longer period of time. Years, actually. There's a lot to learn, beyond singing and dancing.
Both, Dear Alice and SM, riding each other’s coat tail for promo. Dear Alice riding SM’s to make noise in KPOP World (despite them being not Kpop group) and SM riding Dear Alice to make noise in (maybe) UK/US entertainment world. But regardless, I love this interactions.
I wish them lots of success and happiness. It’s great to see new faces and them being foreigners it’s great for the industry. I myself follow a group in KPop. Alice all the best fighting!!
Sorry to say but 100 days is not enough 😅 Kpop groups are like a well oiled machine, with excellent choreography, great vocals while dancing, and good humour. However, I love these guys already and I wish them the best ❤
They are just using the 100 days as a background. In the interview they said that they had trained individually before becoming a group. So they only trained as a kpop group for 100 days. It's not even like they are going to become a kpop group.
BTS fan here!! Is there a documentary of these cute guys learning the K-pop ways?? That should be sooo interesting and cool!! Maybe some tears?!?! I know the Korean’s need to train for a year or more! Scary!!!!!
They sound educated and appreciative of the culture. Groups like this and katseye are ones to watch id say. Theyre both essentially western groups with the Korean work ethic behind their formation. Theyre appreciative of the culture and respectful, which is all that matters.
You need to see more interviews with kpop groups, maybe some of the old groups? The interviews I've seen with some of my faves, they look pretty well relaxed 🤷♀️
In my opinion, this boy band should not copy Kpop, but instead be more like BackStreet Boys, and naturally sing good songs from the heart. That was how Backstreet Boys won the hearts of millions of fans worldwide, more than what Kpop could ever achieve.
@@balladofahomeschooledboy0514you’re making every Katseye and VCHA fan wanna leave the fandom because no person on earth wants to be associated with your awkwardly toxic behavior in any way
I read somewhere that these boys, even though they’re quite young, have some previous individual training in dancing, singing and performing. Still, they obviously needed to practice a lot together, and take time to bond as a group. SM casting agents have a great eye for young people with potential, and I’m sure they’ll live up to the company’s reputation. I’m expecting amazing vocals and great music. Dear Alice, let’s go!!!
I am a big K pop fan from the USA . It's a difficult world but I wish them all the best. We K pop fans are loyal to our stans so wishing them all the best and looking forward to their debut
im so excited for this group, i have been yearning for a new western boyband for a while now. (I loveee kpop, but I miss groups like Backstreet Boys, Nsync, BoyzIIMen, 1D, etc on the western music sphere.) I hope we get some kind of music previews soon!!
@@han_js598 Saw a performance these lads did on a TV show,,, actually they sing quite well, dance moves looked awkward at times, a little too forced and wooden .... Let's hope they improve on that and whilst there at it , get a decent stylist for clothes and appearance.....
@@balladofahomeschooledboy0514To everyone reading this embarrassing comment: We Katseye fans aren’t all as toxic as this random cyberbully. Wishing Dear Alice the best.
theres already like 5 6 global groups that trained under the system for like 2-5 years but only like 2-3 are considered successful and are regularly talked about in the kpop spaces. 3 months will not suffice at all, thats an average comeback wait period
I’m genuinely wishing the best for these guys, they seem like nice fellas. SME is, well, SME but hopefully they do well. They seem genuinely into the arts and know about kpop as well. Only time will tell, but they’re good looking guys working with a big 3 (or is it 4 now?) kpop label so hopefully they’ll really take off. Also the name Dear Alice is really good, although it does remind me of 2000s MySpace metalcore, and yes I am that old 😂
Looking at these guys, seeing they're all good-looking, charming British boys gifted in dancing and singing, they could be the most explosive group to come from the UK since Take That, Spice Girls and One Direction. Best of luck!
One key foundation in making a group success is understanding, compromise, and chemistry among the members. That's what makes BTS last and is still thriving for a decade now. They work well as a group and as soloists because they do like each other, unlike One Direction. If you guys actually like each other and can compromise, lower your ego, you will succeed. All the best
THIS GROUP WON’T SUCCEED, THEY TRAINED FOR 100 DAYS, THEY DON’T HAVE THE DISCIPLINE, SOME OF THEM ARE GONNA GO SOLO EVENTUALLY OR HAVE A FIGHT WITH EACH OTHER
@@Bang...9900 ikr 😭 there are comments speaking abt a lot of groups but if i mention bts they'll eat me up saying I'm toxic and involving them everywhere but hey it's abt kpop and bts is the biggest kpop grp so we can mention them 😔✊💜
I’m so interested in how their marketing and music will be influenced by Kpop. Will the styling be as out there? Will the music be as genre-mashing? Will they do variety type videos? I imagine they might have a simpler aesthetic if their core demographic is going to be Westerners, music included.
Guys, don't listen to them haters they have no idea what they're talking about! You know you guys are great and the group will be massive. I'm very proud and happy as a fan. Hwaiting boys!
I mean, there’s been idols who’ve only trained 3 months to a year before debuting. Why spend resources training someone who’s got competent skills already?
idk why the western are still shocked that the trainee system was that serious and almost like a millitary bootcamp. meanwhile most of the kpop idols today were a trainee since they're still in elementary school, especially for those who debuted under sm entertainment
100% ARMY HERE. BTS is known for their difficult choreo. Up to 16 hours they had to do a day. As the others as well. If you can sing your choreo on point and most of stay humble and treat your fans with love. Respect each other and your company you will make it far. You guys look like a great bunch of guys. And with hard work and dedication I think you will go far.
This is such a refreshing take in Kpop and I'm so excited to see their concept but at the same time K-pop is not K-pop anymore. It's going in the west direction way too much.
@@stephaniemathurin473 I wasn’t talking about they have to surpass bts or anything but i talked about they should be a real british group not kpop group
Cheering them on. It's not an easy industry to succeed in, especially for foreigners, and the training is absolutely gruelling but you can do it! ❤ - A
Are they back in the UK already after the 100 days training? So they’re going to promote where? Will they join music shows in Korea? Anyway, I have only seen clips of them on X. I wish them luck and more energy to sustain everything. With the Korean boys it’s a whole culture they grew up with and it’s different for these boys. 100 days training is not a lot. I hope they find their own color I am sure SM has assigned a concept for them already. I am curious how all these would pan out so are they going to retain their British personalities but perform K Pop style? From this interview, clothes wise they’re not yet K Poppified. But incorporating British fashion into K Pop can be a breath of fresh air too. Will see how they evolved. Anyway, what Ten said was true you gain the most experience after you debut.
I feel like they or whoever is overseeing and managing them, miss the whole point of what kpop is and what makes it so good. So far it seems no different than a western boyband retry. Where's the concepts, the aesthetics, the makeup and outfits?
Yeah, and in their vids so far, their look is very natural and "college boy". So maybe their main label thinks that if they're gunning for a Western audience, the flashy outfits and heavy styling can actually be seen as cringey. Not a bad thing imho, since it's the dancing and singing that really matters at the end of the day.
As they say in KPOP: Fighting! As they say in the western world: Good luck and break a leg! Look forward to your debut / title track / MV. Will you be on Music Bank / Inkigayo?
My ult (favorite) group, SHINee, is one of the most famous SM Entertainment boy bands. If these guys are/were training with SM people, the result is going to be stellar.
