Love this Rabbi thank you. There are lots of factors that go into choices. I'm going to bring up the subject of fear/intuition. These two qualities can be confusing to sense sometime. You mentioned there is huge dilemma to finding a "soul mate". Let me preface as well that this is also a relatively new concept brought into our mass consciousness by the Romanticism era of the last 200 or more years. Before that finding a "soulmate" in a human was probably looked upon as a mental illness since finding those qualities of the soul were usually directed in Spirituality or Religion. Since we have abandoned the social constructs of marriage and embraced the union based on compatibility the overwhelming onus lands on another person to satisfy our needs of the soul/love rather than their ability to become part of the great social fabric. Obviously I am paraphrasing here and we all know that one person cannot answer all of our needs. Here is why indecision become so ubiquitous in this area. Many people want to “feel” a certain amount of “passion” “desire” to make a decision. Yes one might find a partner that is compatible and warm capable of loving/being loved yet little ardor exists to make the fire burn, hence many people choosing the “wrong” people since they based it on “passion and desire” which wasn’t their fault, it was all they had as a way of feeling something strong enough to even commit. In addition all humans feel lonely and even though they can spend considerable time alone crossing the desert of solitary existence there does come a point when one stops at the oasis along the way which in this case is potential partner that is “good enough” and thinks that he/she will do since there is no more gas in the tank to cross the desert to the other side where your “soulmate” is waiting for you. “Don’t ever give up” is a common slogan we like to repeat but unfortunately there are times when we must give up but how do we know? How do we know when to have a bit more faith to meet opportunity around the corner and when we have exhausted our resources looking for something that makes us “feel” something strong enough so that we can commit? Of course over time all humans are faced with reckonings and must accept present conditions and learn to be happy. My question to you is this. Is “ Moving Forward” always the best way if you keep repeating the same cycle? And could you have career success, an adventurous life, many friends and family yet not find some one you truly love? And if so is when does “moving forward” finally stop? You can “move forward” until u die. Conversely if you “move forward” by choosing a partner that is “good enough” are u then cheating yourself out of a reality that you just didn’t work hard enough to make happen? Affairs of the heart can be sometimes more challenging than the jews in exodus or Masada. Survival usually empowers choice quicker. Having options are luxuries that we can get lost in.

I got an award when I left sixth form college that said I was the most indecisive student they had ever taught. It was done in jest but I think they may have had a point.

26:33 a useful image used in this respect in mid-life for self was that of a small ship putting out from land and after a while encountering a storm - the decision to make was - since a port is necessary - should one return to the port came from? - or find a new one? good choice made.....all moved on....perfectly graphic while living the moments. Satisfying.

Thanks Rabbi. I just want to add that in hindsight even if how we chose to move forward may not have been the best option, Moving forward, even if just a little, is better than not moving it all. Basically, the glass half full or in other words, something to work with is better than nothing.

It is the truth, that fight an flight away can come up an meet what was create in thought/opinion. It can be as dream of illision. Yes, move forwards, let the light grow higher almost the pain, afraid isn't go away. It is sure, very sad an mind blow how human hurt the other human (al live). I'm not familiar with the tradition. I am curious whether a video would be considered a kabalah. which I understand to be the transmition of wisdom via spoken word. That is to give someone understanding as opposed to information. To see and hear someone's reactions and questions to what they have been told, to adjust and explain where there is need be. A video, just like a book, is just information. A consumer of your words could misunderstand and / or be confused, and your words wouldn't address either. Me writing a comment, asking a question, is of course more than a book, or a video but not all do comment, and not all comments are answered.
