got together in 1984 at school. married in 1992. still together. two fantastic sons. played this song as first dance at our wedding. still love and adore her. always will xx
Innocent days, great music, lyrics and clean videos, no mobiles, no social media, no snowflakes, no twerking, good TV on 3 channels, not like all the sh*** on 500+ channels now!!! My 18 year old daughter is jealous of my 80s childhood and wants to go back to the 80s herself bless her
Takes me right back to 1984 , I was 19 and everything was in front of me . There are a few songs that do this to me , Oh Lori by Alessi and Body Talk by Imagination , different years but they instill a feeling of youthful bliss and freedom .
These fairground guys were legends, making a living out of experiences for others to enjoy. A great momento in this very special song of English history. We will continue to enjoy this great song whenever we like for perpetuity, with snippets of others loved ones going about their normal day. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ This is a very special song to me, it reflects the simple ness of England, or any of the uk, during quite tough times. Finding hope, reflected in this great song of stunning vocals. Frozen in time.
I am sorry for your loss. Please accept my condolences. I have been a Kane Gang fan since this was a hit in 1984. My dad died suddenly in a horrific accident last year and all the music I have loved from when I was growing up is now even more associated with moments in time from when he was alive. The music is the same but everything has changed.
Buddy I feel the same way, I found these guys early 80’s. Nobody I knew heard of them before until I shared. I miss this music. I grew up on sabbath etc. but this is great stuff.
I was quite emotional hearing this song on radio 2 Jeremy vine show the other day. It’s an amazing song by an amazing group. This song could have been written & sung by any 80s American singer. Thank you for your reply :)
SUCH MANUFACTURERED SONGS/ARTISTS TODAY. EVEN KYLIE WHO WAS THE DEFINITELY TO ME QUEEN OF POP HER MUSIC I DONT CARE FOR NOW AND I HAVE EVERYONE OF HER SONGS SINGLES ALBUMS (CDS) IF IT IS MADE I BOUGHT IT UK JAPAN AUSTRALIA IMPORT. BUT ITS JUST SMFH AT TODAYS MUSIC AND ARTISTS ALL FAKE PURPS.
I want to go to back to eighties just as much as the next guy here but I also know that without RU-vid, the eighties would be long dead, entombed into in dusty VHS tapes. While we cannot go back there we can at least evoke a semblance of it, and our lives back then, through its beautiful music.
Born in the 60's, most influential time in my life was the 80's. The music was real, it was exploratory and it has left an indelible impression on our lives, we'll never get this great music back but at least we can remember it!
A billion miles away from the jungle music of the last 3 decades..I know I shouldn't complain..life moves on..but I am greatful i grew up in the decades i remember the most..the 70's..80's❤️
What a song. Sad, dreamy, and hopeful all rolled into one - amazing!! Seems as though M Brammer wrote it to suit his vocals perfectly. Having said that, I would like to have heard the late, great Billy Mackenzie sing this. Prob one of the few people who could have done a cover of it justice.
1984! What a year! This reminds me of hot summer nights in August, hanging around bars and clubs with friends. I was working at Alton Towers at the time and it was like a college atmosphere back then when it was still privately owned. We worked together and played together. An awesome year of great music, great fashions and a fantastic feeling! We won't see it again, but when I hear songs like this, it all comes back...
Absolutely the same here! Spent most of a beautiful summer on the east, west and south coasts with fantastic friends and girls, listening to wonderful music and Laser 558 - best radio station ever!
CB radio was our social media then, plus walkmans and atari/early computers. But I agree, better times. We read papers and magazines more and made an effort to stay connected with new trends and tribes - making it all more meaningful and memorable. And real.
This is one of those 80s songs that is so bitter-sweet nostalgic. Some others on my list are PHD-I won't let you down, Madonna-live to tell, Go West GoodBye Girl and Blow monkeys- Digging your scene.
i left school in 83' , the 80's were the best for music , i'm now in my 40's and depressed , the music is so below standard now ... and life is too serious !!
Hope you're still hanging on in there because things haven't got better recently have they , but we know we had the best time and no one can take that away from us.
+Towdthi Disagree, although the 80's is a highpoint in music, today's music has a lot to offer (Keane, The 1975, Kaiser Chiefs, Take That, Adele etc), and you can't just blame Cowell, there is a lot of bad stuff that has nothing to do with him. Fleur East is amazing though and she's Cowell.
Don't you think Stock, Aitken and Waterman did a giant slack shit all over popular music long before Simon Cowell came along and wiped his zitty arse with what remained?
there are an abundance of good contemporary artists. They are just all underground. Gilles Peterson is probably the best BBC dj for the good new stuff. UK radio is shite.
Reminds me of long, lovely summer holidays when we travelled up from London to see my family in the North East in the 80's. I miss those days so much, now so many of them have passed away, and when I remember how being with them made me feel safe, invincible, happy and loved.
I think many of us who were born in the 60's and who grew up in the 70-80's were blessed with nice times and loving families plus great music and not to mention people still had manners and discipline unlike today!
@@warriorvet The collapse of values and discipline in society was starting to show then but it was nothing compared to today and that is not rose tinted glasses by any means. I am a liberal and on the left but more individual freedom in Britain since the 1960s has translated into a libertarian free for all which has not been replicated in other European countries where common standards and ( extended) family bonds are still strong. Much less inequality ergo lower crime.
This song was in the charts in the year me and my partner met we were like the kids in this video so in love and not a care in the world happy happy days i adore this song it makes me so nostalgic i so wish we could go back then ❤
This is one of those rare melodies, that gets you thinking toward how valuable the people closest to you really are, and what you do on a daily basis to keep those very special people with you, where ever you are. Dr. Nick c/o Hong Kong SAR
Young free single no worries all my family alive and well, sunny days eat what you wanted never a worry about finding a job everything seemed good then.
Me and thee song for my wife and I. Married and in love since 1981 and not a penny between us back then. Had no idea where we were going but really didn't matter, just as long as we had each other. This song will always have a special place in our hearts. 80's was a special time for music. Peace to all.
Thank you so much for uploading this. It reminds me of going to flamingoland for the first time, my wonderful grandmother (rip) buying me my first my little pony and running over to my best friend's house all excited to show her it and riding my real pony Tina through the woods. God I wish I could be a kid again! I love how music can stir up memories and transport you back in time. Just amazing!
Thanks for that longa, I thought they were all from Newcastle - the singer is a very good looking guy with a blue eyed soul approach. You certainly do have north east talent, I'm just a few miles away down in North Yorkshire!
You forget just how nice some songs are, love this tune, only came here as I heard Eurythmics heaven must be missing an angel, and Stevie Wonders harmonica solo reminded me of the Melodica Pianica Harmonica bit, 80s just rocked, time just goes so quickley.
Classic from a great band. They released two fine albums- The Bad and Low Down World of the Kane Gang ( great title) and Miracle. I preferred Miracle- it is a highly polished collection and should have been huge. I thought they could do no wrong already but then I read in Walls Come Tumbling Down that they were involved in supporting Red Wedge in the 1980s- just fantastic! Kitchenware label mates Prefab Sprout were also on the roster.
