Today, we'll tuck a look at what may be the nicest knife Kansept has ever made: the Tuckamore, and we'll even tuck it apart showing that it's quite easy to maintain.
"This thing here, bolster, I don't even know what it called any more" Uh oh. We are sliding into the Nick's forgotten more about knives than most of us will ever know phase. I kid of course lol Excellent vid, Nick. Glad I stayed till the bonus "wharn" pun right at the end. Solid one, that. 🤘🏼✌🏽
I recently disassembled my Tuckamore and was shocked to discover the free spinning pivot, especially since they took the time to mill bearing raceways on both the hardened washers AND the bearing pockets in the blade itself. This and the Kizer Militaw (also a Jonathan Styles design) really surprised me this year, I have thoroughly enjoyed both of them. He's definitely got my attention as a designer.
My Bday is this Friday and I got a pretty decent knife haul. I ended up with a Hogue Deka Wharncliffe, a Case Trapper, and a Titanium Kizer Feist, so it was a pretty good 40th bday. Think I'm gonna order myself a late Xmas gift of a Jack Wolf Gunslinger in Jan or Feb.
Rowdy bar; Bouncer: "Out you go." (Throws troublemakers into the back alley by their shirt collars.) Troublemakers: "You better watch your back old man. We'll be back tomorrow night. Count on it!" Bouncer: "Next time I won't be so gentle with youz. I see youz in here again and you're gettin' the full Shabazz!" 0:13
Seems nice what's driving me nuts lately from major manufacturers is asymmetrical grinds, and edges! I even have a benchmade persidio ii cf elite that came with an uneven edge..for the money they should care more about things like that.
I just realized I haven't ordered a single knife this year. I got my WinterBlade Mirage in the mail from the preorder in 2022 but haven't spent any money this year. I find myself leaving home without a knife in my pocket anymore and I barely ever fidget with the knives I have at home. I don't know if I've changed or if the knife world has gotten a little stale.
Axl-Lock Main Street is just great. That is a warncliffe by Dirk Pinkerton. Looks similar but not.I have other Kansepts but find it just has something that don't work. This Tuckamore has been in my Cart since it came out and it is a beauty. This Chopper Fatcarbon is just Cream.
Tuckamore is a Turkik word meaning "Lean". In Medieval times, when their soldiers would return from war, they'd be much leaner. So their shirts would be baggy and sloppy looking. They'd be told to tuck your shirt in more. In Turkish, "tuckamore".
I love the handle, but the blade just doesn’t excite me. And, I do have a Wharncliffe, although I also screwed up the tip and put a little bit of belly on the tip of my Kizer Swaggs Sway Back when I sharpened that with my new Ken Onion Knife Sharpener, yesterday. Alas. 🙃 But, ya know what would excite me? A Nick Shabazz disassembly and review of the Civivi Vision FG and the Flytanium Arcade. 😊
Free spinning pivots need a lot of threadlocker because it sucks if they get loose. Also free spinning pivots need to, please for the love of god, stop existing.
Unpopular opinion: saying the designer of an overseas mass produced knife “really can make a knife” is kinda silly. They didn’t really “make” anything. Now if you’re talking about the custom that it’s a copy of (if there is one) …then good to go.
