My question is always been why did they choose to switch from Daniel to Jolisan? Was there something wrong with Daniel when it came to the next karate kid?

I don’t care i don’t like riding the bandwagon if I like something I will like it I don’t care if it’s big to people or not I always like part 3 I think it’s the best one they make to me anyway ever tho I like all of them plus the 4th one the tv show n the remake n the video games too lol 😂 😎😂😎

It's not as technically well done as the first two and it felt too rushed at times with a few things in the movie not making sense, but it does have a cult following among certain fans and it gave us a great antagonist in Silver and yes Miyagi did give a great speech at the end! The writing in Cobra Kai is almost making up for the weak writing in this film. After bingewatching season 5 last night, it almost makes this movie seem better than it was. It'll be interesting if they can do the same thing for 'The Next Karate Kid'?

And the music that goes with it. Just superb.

It's because people think Daniel shouldn't have the fear for Mike Barnes after defeating Chozen. It a lot of ways, sure, it makes sense. But the production was great with a mediocre script.

To me, it’s the music that really makes all that effective. Pat Morita always played this character to perfection, but Macchio’s portrayal of LaRusso in this film was pretty annoying. It doesn’t make much sense for him to be this scared of a guy who was clearly not the fighter Chozen was and there was no battle to the death. Aside from Griffin’s stellar performance as a Bond-like, comic book villain, everything else in the movie was pretty wasteful and even laughable, at times.

That was the whole point. It wasn't that Mike Barnes was stronger or tougher than Chozen. Against Chozen, Daniel was forced into a bare knuckle street fight to the death and the girl he loved was in danger so Daniel had to fight. With Mike Barnes, Daniel wasn't fighting for his life like with Chozen, but paralyzed by fear of Barnes because Terry Silver sent Barnes and his goons after Daniel throughout the whole movie, Terry Silver befriended Daniel and acted as Daniel's mentor and trainer for the tournament, taught Daniel brutality, aggression, and anger, forced Daniel to physically injure himself to weaken Daniel physically and mentally, made Daniel forget what karate was all about and everything Miyagi taught him and then revealed his true nature to Daniel alongside Barnes and Kreese, which crippled Daniel with fear of Mike and also Silver and Kreese. Granted Mike mopped the floor with Daniel easily in three street fights outside of the ring even before Silver stepped in, but Daniel in Karate Kid 3 was borderline overweight, out of shape, not training as hard except for Miyagi's kata (ironically what beat Barnes at the end) and broken by Terry Silver's psychological warfare and mind games. At the end after Barnes flawlessly pummeled Daniel throughout the tournament, once Mr. Miyagi gave Daniel his speech about never losing to fear, Daniel overcame his fear of Mike and Silver's psychological warfare, used Miyagi's kata defense attack, which caught Mike off guard and left Mike incapable of attacking head on as Mike usually did and Daniel flipped Barnes over with the kata counter and delivered a palm strike to the body to win.

I still think KK2 and KK3 should have switched story lines. You could definitely see that Daniel grew up more while he was in Japan, where in KK3 it looked like he was still developing along with his karate and maturity.

Also, had recurring roles in Mash and I believe was in the original Midway

Wish he was still alive and do a cameo for cobra kai don't expect him to karate kick people still but just his presence in the series would be awesome

Also, in the KK3 post credits scene, Mike jumps up, grabs Daniel and says, "You ruined my life, Larusso. You took EVERYTHING from me!!!" Those post credits were 30+ years later, but still...

Before the whole Cobra Kai thing, fans used to make fun of KK3 cuz Daniel was way over the hill at that point. He had gained a lot of weight, and was playing a high school kid when he was almost 30. And the third one was too formulaic. It was a very similar movie to the first one. The person who wrote it didn't want to write this story, they just gave him a boatload of money and he couldn't turn it down. I just watched the interview.

The only reason Daniel is scared is because Silver/Barnes undid everything Miyagi taught him. I'm surprised so many people don't get this.

in KK3 they say that it happened before the scenario in KK2 so I don't understand why people are upset this happened right a year after KK1 lol

True, but it doesn’t feel that way, you know? You’d think having fought with your life on the line losing a tournament is small. Maybe what Daniel is truly afraid of is becoming like Kreese, Silver and Barnes. That isn’t shown fully in this scene. Maybe if Daniel didn’t get a straight ticket to the title match and we saw him fighting against the Cobra Kai training he received and trying to stay true to Miagyi’s training then it would have been stronger.

@@jokaromega4024 They are returning from the Okinawa at the beginning of part 3. Part 3 also mentions Daniel's girlfriend from part 2 got a dance scholarship in Japan. No way it happened like that.

It's because they messed with his mind for the entire movie, made him doubt himself, made him lose control of himself, etc. Don't underestimate the power of a good mental attack.

Here it was prolonged psychological warfare and torment Daniel endured from not only Mike, but more so Terry Silver. Silver literally broke Daniel's spirit and will.

He probably didnt know what it was because he got so confused.
