I think there are two different types of Karens in this pandemic. Karen A is the one to absolutely refuse to wear a mask under any circumstance. Karen B on the other hand, she calls the cops on you if she thinks you are violating the lockdown, even without solid evidence.

I recently went to the nail salon and forgot my required mask, i apologized profusely and they just gave me a disposable one to use. it’s easy to not be a dick, and to not put other lives in danger.

My neighbor growing up was the biggest asshole and he acted like a Karen. And, to top it off, his name was Todd.

Asthma makes it alot harder for me to wear the mask for extended periods of time but I wear it regardless.

To be fair, I have lung disease and masks make it harder to breathe. My solution? I shop frequently in small amounts IN A MASK. Bam-problem solved.

I bought groceries today, the clerk was telling me stories of two extremes people take -- either demanding the cashier wipe down EVERY ITEM they buy with sanitizer wipes and use new gloves (they don't do that), or berating them for wearing masks. Mostly the latter. These retail employees need to be making much more per hour than they are.

I'm a chronic asthmatic and I can't wear anything that obstructs my breathing - and whenever I've told anyone in retail politely they've helped me find an easy workaround 100% of the time. Treat them like people and they treat you like people too.

it's crazy to me how much confidence and pride karens must have. i've never once even complained about my food from a restaurant, even if it's like, half-cocked or moldy, or missing an obvious ingredient. my anxiety would never let me shout at someone in public.

As an asthmatic I've had people say to me "are you sure you should be a wearing a mask? I wouldn't reccomend it if you have asthma..." like yeah hun I don't think they reccomend coronavirus either so I'll take my chances

I have asthma and respiratory issues and the masks are almost specifically for protecting people with respiratory issues!! Anyone with an actually lung condition would never question wearing one! I have a friend with Cystic fibrosis and she wears a mask almost year round!!!!

If you aren't comfortable wearing a mask, (it's often due to asthma or breaking difficulties) you can wear a face shield. A coworker of mine does that and it's okay.

i have asthma and work 12 hr shifts in a memory care facility with a mask on every single minute i am there. people can handle it for their errands!

They're complaining about wearing a mask for 30 minutes or so when they go into a store? Cry me a river... In the Operating Room, we wear masks from 6am to 6pm, 7days a week, 365 days a year. Wearing masks all day has been studied extensively for those of us who work in the operating room to ensure our health and safety but also the effectiveness of wearing masks. 1. Wearing masks for prolonged periods do not affect your oxygen levels significantly. In fact, there was a study that found after a 7 hour long surgery, the oxygen levels of all the staff in that surgery only dropped by 1% (97% to 96%) from wearing a mask 7 hours straight... a 1% drop.... *that is not concerning what so ever nor is it dangerous*. In fact, your oxygen levels fluctuates all day. You can be at 95% just sitting on your couch relaxed eating cheerios then your oxygen level can jump to 98% when you go for a run and drop back down to 95% or 96% etc. 2. You're not rebreathing all your exhaled CO2, one study measured the expired CO2 levels while staff wore masks during surgery, over 98% of your exhaled CO2 does in fact leave the mask and is NOT re-inhaled. 3. Another study was on the health affects of staff wearing masks for 7 to 12 hours daily in the operating room. The study found that A. It does NOT affect staffs immune system what so ever. B. it does NOT cause lung injury C. Staff DO NOT infect themselves from the exhaled CO2 Do you know how many staff like myself who have worked in operating rooms for years and years wearing masks 12 hours a day 365 days a year? Tens of thousands and wearing masks has not affected any of us what so ever and these people are complaining about wearing a mask for 30 minutes at a time and thinking it's dangerous to wear a mask just to go inside a store? C'mon 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Playing devil’s advocate here, if someone suffers from chronic hypoxia, they would have a harder time breathing with a mask, That being said people with breathing problems would also be at higher risk of covid and shouldn’t be at supermarkets anyway

As a dental hygienist I’ve been wearing a mask & gloves & a gown for 25 years & im still alive & now after the quarantine I’m wearing an N95 with a regular mask on top of it & a full shield, goggles , scrub cap, gloves & a full gown & yep still alive

I have a lung condition but I still wear a mask at my job. The only thing that makes it entirely unwearable is if you have something like severe COPD or cancer and I think you should probably stay home.

I wasn’t allowed to be in a store at the mall because It was required to have a mask and I didn’t have one on hand. You know what I did? I complied and simply left. If you don’t have the proper protective material on then you’ll have to face the consequences of not wearing one.

As someone who lives in Korea who has to wear a mask literally every time I leave my home, this is sooooooo frustrating to watch!

I work in a public library and 80% of my day is spent listening to almost 80% of the people entering the building ignoring ALL signs claiming medical conditions that they're not wearing masks. I signed papers saying if I get sick I will have to stay home. If a coworker comes in with a fever, we all on staff have to quarantine for 7-14 days. Who's feeding my family if they cannot tell me who's paying me to stay home if we get sick of any illness???? I'm making minimum wage, cleaning every freaking surface every hour or every time someone uses our computers yet they cannot use the good will of humanity for 10 mins to wear a mask. Its Title 1 of the ADA act that states "a business must require mask. If you Cannot wear one they can try to make accommodations to curbside or pick up service" it's under national emergency that allows that. It's not the law that states you can still walk on in arguing you deserve to continue without a mask. I repeat this phrase 1000x. My 4 and 5 yr olds wear a mask the 2 times I've allowed them to go into a store since babysitting is becoming a requirement for us to grocery shop since the majority of my area will not wear a mask. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Regarding medical conditions people try to use in their defense: - if physical, there are multiple ways of wearing masks more comfortably that don't cause difficulty breathing - if psychological, it's important to recognise that some people may suffer from PTSD related to holding pieces of cloth against their mouth and nose. Unfortunately, victims of rape and abuse could have experienced passing out when a soaked cloth was held against their face and, in consequence, experience traumatizing flashbacks when they try to wear a mask. This condition is challenging to treat and is something to bear in mind. Those people in the video, though, are clearly a different, obnoxious breed.

I'm in Georgia and I've yet to find a buisness that enforces a mask policy. I played a gig at an outdoor restaurant, and was the only one there with a mask, and 2 people told me to take it off because I "looked stupid" and that it "doesn't stop covid", so I made sure to wear it the entire gig.

I work as a cashier and this one woman walks in with her mask on to get into the store then takes it off. Then every time she gets told to put her mask on. She then proceeds to yell and preach to the other customers to listen to the doctors and not the news. Because the doctors say it’s not a big deal. Then goes off and yells about other stuff like her rights. We called the police on her but she ran off before they got there. Next time and I know there will be she has done it four times already. Ill tell her how my dad a paramedic felt when he had no idea how to treat his covid patient and was only able to make her comfortable before she passed. Then we will see how Karen feels about that. I only hope she comes through my line.

You do breathe some increased amount of CO2 by wearing a mask compared to not wearing it, you don't breathe entirely fresh air. Some of it's trapped in it and you breathe it again. It's just not much CO2 at all, and we also have physiological mechanisms to regulate our blood's acidity so that it's really a non-issue. I'm mostly wondering if that woman's crusade against breathing in CO2 applies in other aspects of her daily life... like for example systematically refusing to drink or encourage the consumption of Coke, or any other soda or fuzzy water for that matter... Opening windows all the time, or you know, like trying to prevent people from rejecting billions and billions of tons of CO2 in the atmosphere, which will... result in breathing an increased amount of CO2 and seems very ungodly imho. I don't wanna be an ass imputing motives on her... But I have some sort of a hunch that considering CO2 as such an ungodly and undesirable enemy is quite a new thing for this lady.

I work in an ENT clinic on a large medical campus in California. Obviously everyone is required to wear a mask given that we see many patients for cough, sore throat, fever, etc., on the daily. Last week I had a man tell me that he was “unable” to wear a mask to his appointment because he had a medical disability. His “disability” was high blood pressure. He claimed that when he wears masks the lack of oxygen makes his blood pressure rise and gives him headaches. He continued on that our physicians were actually violating his rights as a disabled person and discriminating against him..citing the ADA Act..and that he if “weren’t as kind” could take us to court and cost the doctors their practice, licenses and $25,000 in fines. Because he didn’t want to wear a mask for like an hour to get his hearing tested. Oh and yes he also did the “excuse me that’s MY personal health info you don’t have a right to ask me about my medical conditions, etc” when I asked what specifically prevented him from wearing a mask, since like Ethan and Hila said..that’s not a thing. These people are literally just the most entitled, selfish nutcases. Also blows my mind that anyone would be against wearing a mask in a clinic that literally sees people with illnesses of the NOSE AND THROAT. Hmm where exactly does Covid infect the body again..oh yeah IT ENTERS THROUGH THE NOSE AND THROAT 🙄🙄🙄😒😒

Oh man Ethan, I live in eastern Oregon my girlfriend works at a Safeway here. An old woman pushed my girlfriend and threw an avocado at her supervisors face and pushed her cart into another customer and got taken away in handcuffs. All because she didnt want to wear a mask. She was 87 years old.

I do actually have a medical condition (I guess?) that prevents mask wearing. I tend to stay the F home the vast majority of the time because of that & keep my mouth firmly shut when I do have to go somewhere. When I tried to wear a mask, I touched it every second or so to tug on it & the panic was real. I'd then get droplets from the heavy panicked breathing on my hands & I was not in the headspace to be cognizant of what was touching after that. It was a damn disaster for me but because I spent about a decade as the Guinea pig student to an infection control teacher (late husband taught classes at the larger facilities in our area & I played student when he planned & put together his class), my doctor decided it was a much better plan, for everyone, to have me be exempt. She actually took one of his classes so she's happy to let me manage it in a much more effective way for me because she knows exactly what I'm aware of. I have severe claustrophobia. Anything touching my face is a HUGE nope from me. I spent 5 years in intensive therapy just to be able to wash my face in the sink & splash water on it (I wiped it quickly with wet washcloths & dried it quickly before then). I still can't wash my face in the shower (no idea why there is a block there but that's the only lasting reminder is the facial claustrophobia) & I have to be extremely careful washing my hair so water doesn't get on my face. All that comes from trauma caused by a psycho stalker who broke into my dorm room & tried to smother me with a pillow a week & a day after I turned 19. Apparently when he showed up uninvited to my birthday party at a club (which he apparently heard my gay bestie discussing with another friend while waiting for me outside my class.) the weekend before, I was supposed to notice the creepy loner in the corner & fall in love. When that didn't happen, because of course it didn't, he decided if he couldn't have me, no one was going to. Luckily for me, he wasn't adept at murder either (talking to women was obviously something he was inept at). After I slipped into unconsciousness, he figured I was dead. Turns out killing someone takes longer than you think. Who knew? (I use sarcasm as a coping strategy cuz it's rather dark.) I didn't even know he existed until he broke in & he'd been following me for 2 months. Had I seen him, I'd have assumed, student with similar schedule & interests, not, psycho stalker but, sigh, simpler life. Anyway, I say all that to say, that's my medical condition (of sorts) that prevents me from effectively wearing a mask.
