A lot of people aren't ready to choose a college major by the age of 18 anyway, much less plunge themselves into hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt.

College has been great for me. I am a first generation American and college student. I went to a community college and received an associate degree in nursing. I worked as a registered nurse while I was in school getting my bachelors. My associate degree gave me a job that enabled me to live on my own, pay my bills, save up, and pay for my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. I never took out any student loans. I’m 21 and debt free and finished my bachelors. Nursing rocks!

My economics teacher, my senior year in high school, taught us how to do taxes in 1984. I went to a performing arts high school. We got a lot of extra attention and tons of real life skills by the nature of our various programs. Even though we were teens we learned you can’t blow off rehearsal or a performance because ya wanna party. The time for partying is after the show has run it’s course That’s what I learned

My high school actually taught a "personal finance" class that counted as a math credit. It was optional, though, so a lot of students didn't take it since they thought it was "stupid". I took it because I'm terrible at math and found it to be a good alternative. But I really did learn a lot and it was applied later on in life in my jobs. ...Also this Paul program is straight up a scam.

I recall my high school offering classes in personal finance, auto mechanics, building trades, welding, construction systems...etc, as electives as well as the core classes of math, science, biology and english. They even had it set up where you could go to school for half a day and intern or work a job for the other half of the day. I find it ironic that the people didn’t apply themselves, skipped class and eventually dropped out, end up being the adults that complain about being failed by the public education system. Yes, I went to a public school that offered those classes. If the public education opponents would have actually paid attention when it really mattered, maybe they would have realized that there were classes offered that do prepare you for the real world. Public education didn’t fail you, you failed public education.
