The Kettle Creek Experience - INCREDIBLE PA Native Brook Trout

Having flown under the radar as one of PA's premier Wild/Native Trout Streams, my first experience on Kettle Creek was incredible. Fishing a section of this stream surprisingly near my family's hunting/fishing cabin, I managed to catch 7 or so Native Brook Trout up to approximately 13 or so inches (which is a NICE Native Brookie in PA). This was by far one of the most remote, beautiful, and productive stretches of PA Native Brook Trout water that I've fished in the great Keystone State. Lot's a wildlife (and bear scat...)

I'm a fond fly fisher. But I like your spin casting techniques. You're introducing me to a new world and experience through your videos. At the age of 61...I have learned to appreciate everything!

Just happened to see your video. I was on Kettle two weeks ago and also caught some amazing brook trout! I was fly fishing and posted my video a couple days ago. It’s definitely a great stream for catching natives.

I very seldom watch spin casters being a fly fishermen for over 50 years, but this video got my interest. Your the first spin caster I have heard say he crimps down the barbs of his hooks. I like the way you handled those prized gem brookies in our NC streams. What else got my interest was the fact you said you were going to take up fly fishing, I have subscribed to your channel to keep up with your progress, and had to chuckle at your first outing with your Clearwater fly rod. May I make a suggestion? With the comments you have here, you should make the effort to answer each and every one only if to say thank you for viewing...Tight Lines...

Thank you for the comments. I am attempting to handle trout better overall (wet hands, net, barbless hooks, ect). With a family cabin on a Pine Creek tributary, I love and respect this area. Interestingly enough, as we speak I am in Waterville with my first fly fishing video trip planned to the Pine Creek Gorge tomorrow. Fly fishing is difficult, but I look forward to the challenge. I genuinely appreciate your kind words, thank you.

I 've been told to check the "freshness" of bear crap, you need to put about a tablespoon in your mouth to "see" if it's warm.

There may be sections of Kettle which are FFO, but definitely not the entire length.

Ouch. That's too bad. I'm hoping its not because of videos like this. Albeit there are other state forest access point (but harder to hike into), I didn't mean for that. Maybe change of ownership?

Been fishing for over 40 years trout, bass, whatever. I have been fly fishing for trout about two years. The only way to learn to fly fish is to bring Only your fly rod an just do it.

Its easier if you water ski the fish to the net rather than use the bungee method.....LOL Should have taken the stream back if you are worried about bear, they eat skunk cabbage. You should have looked around to see where they were feeding.....
