Dear Nathaniel, Roughly a year and a half ago, I was a lost and scared teenager, bearing the pressures of school, family and my future. I didn’t know where I was supposed to go. I was a freshly polished and delicate vessel headed through a sea of fog. I had sent an email to you asking for advice on finding clarity in my future, and you replied. Your words on living life as though you are experimenting with it, had stuck with me from that day onwards. Despite a difficult year, my high school life is coming to an end in a few months, but because of your inspiring work and wisdom, I have a direction. I have strength and a raw passion and curiosity for life. You have changed my life more than you realise. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

@lukedmoss
@lukedmoss 4 года назад
@@ritishmadaan4516 Correct me if I'm misguided, but your advice to "just learn to chill and observe" seems to be a way of practicing curiosity. As I've grown older, I've become less curious - and I'm still very young. It's my view that as we age and become more familiar with the world, the novelty of being where we are wears away. Because of that loss of wonder, if we're not careful we also lose our sense of curiosity. We become more set in our ways. To stay inquisitive through our lifetime is to actively combat this natural, cognitive hardening.

*This reminds me of the journey into the wondrous world of philosophy I embarked on back when I was 11 and read Sophie`s World for the first time. The concept of curiosity is exactly what he was talking about through the voice of the teacher in the book, warning for Sophie to become world-weary. Great message, great video man. I`m with you and now - 12 years later - I try to remind myself to stay curious as often as I can, following the words I read so many years ago.* I`ll leave this quote here from Sophie`s World: “To Summarize briefly: A white rabbit is pulled out of a top hat. Because it is an extremely large rabbit, the trick takes many billions of years. All mortals are born at the very tip of the rabbit's fine hairs. where they are in a position to wonder at the impossibility of the trick. But as they grow older they work themselves even deeper into the fur. And there they stay. They become so comfortable they never risk crawling back up the fragile hairs again. Only philosophers embark on this perilous expedition to the outermost reaches of language and existence. Some of the fall off, but other cling on desperately and yell at the people nestling deep in the snug softness, stuffing themselves with delicious food and drink. 'Ladies and gentlemen,' they yell, 'we are floating in space!' but none of the people down there care. 'What a bunch of troublemakers!' they say. And they keep on chatting: Would you pass the butter, please? How much have our stocks risen today? What is the price of tomatoes? Have you heard that Princes Di is expecting again?”

The moment when you start to be curious about your own life, and yourself is the moment that will completely change you. Whole my life I've been comparing myself to others. I've always been interested more in others lives than in my. Why? Because I was so unhappy that I was so scared to deal with it. I escaped in social networks, in smoking, in doing things that effected my soul and my body. The biggest twist happened when my phone has been stolen. I had plenty of time, and I didn't know what to do. I had to be present in my life because I didn't have where to escape. That is the moment when I got face to face with my reason of being unhappy. So I started to question myself why. After so many q's and possible a's, I found the answer. (And that is not escaping or ignoring the problem. I found the way to cross it and solve it. First step is to accept the problem, and then deal with it.) Ps. I am bad at English.

I wanna start creating art by putting my heart into editing videos, showing my pov of life like you do, sharing experiences and overall, i wanna share why i love my city, cause it's also a very touristic place and super famous, but as usual people goes to the basics and only visit touristic spots which in here are quite better than Paris to be honest, not that crowded, not super expensive, even many are for free, not queueing for pics but still, basic. I wanna start showing the world what my city is all about and what the places i visit are all about, showing the magic i see in things as you do. Thanks for the inspo, i think sharing my thoughts, povs and overall the culture and knowledge i own about every topic or place, will help others find themselves and also will help me find myself better and cope with anxiety and wounds. Lmao hey guys, I used to be the same. In fact I still find myself overwhelmed with a lot of philosophical dialect- whether internal or external (such as this video). The key is honestly to read widely, learn vocabulary whenever you come across new words (trust me it’s such an underrated thing!) and finally, once you start contemplating as such, you’ll realise you understand every word

How do you remain curious without falling into the trap of overthinking?
@theklak49
@theklak49 4 года назад
@Meghna Khatri I think curiosity is actually the oposite of overthinking. Overthinking is becoming self-involed, living in your own head, overwhelmed by your own psychological drama. Curiosity is about getting OUT of your own head to really observe and feel the life within you and the life around you. If you are constantly too much invested in your own self-created dramas, you wont have space for curiosity. I guess in my perspective, one needs to let go of their attachment to their ego/identity/thoughts to become fully involved with the ‘drama’ of the universe :)

Curiosity can be clearly seen in small babies below 1-2 years. They are only possible when "one can able to see things as it is & not as one wanted it to be" Curiosity can be seen in any animal keen observation , curiosity can be possible when one can live her/his each moment of life , as if she/he is very first eve or adam on earth. Curiosity is possible to experience as jus Glimpse in state of peak of highest pain & peak of highest happiness moment. Curiosity can be attained by De-conditioning, Fearlessness & By authentic unmasking of body/mind mesh encounter & after it's all blockage releases.
