For me, recognizing that our eating patterns were so distorted in our community (finish your food/don’t waste) really set us up to be obese diabetics with high blood pressure. And releasing that thought takes a lot of self-awareness and willpower to change it. I’ll have to order food i can eat later because i still hate wasting food. But, as you said, the skinnier girls never finish their food! Duh! It all makes sense. It’s a learning process and we will take it day by day! Consistency wins.
@karensandiego
@karensandiego Год назад
Yess ! I think teaching kids to finish their food definitely promotes obesity, I know for my daughter I allow her to stop eating whenever she says she’s done even if she didn’t eat much to avoid her having the same problems I had. But for us it is just going to take some unlearning but you’re right , day by day it will get easier ! 💕

I had vsg in September. My started at 244. I am currently 192. I haven’t lost as much as others, but that isnt my goal. My goal is healthy and to minimize loose skin. I started lifting as soon as I was cleared to workout. Am i very happy with the results I got. My # 1 tip is EAT WHOLE FOODS. I agree with everything in moderation, and having a nutritious diet. I prioritize protein and eat as little processed food as possible.

Hi Karen, I had my surgery on 21 June ‘23. I have been watching your videos for about 2 and a half months. You are an inspiration to me. You have taught me so much! You are my favourite RU-vidr on VSG. I can’t tell you how much I have learnt from your journey. Thank you for documenting your journey. I couldn’t have done this any better if not for your content.

Girl I'm so frustrated!! I'm 7 months PO, I LOVE what I've accomplished (I'm down a little over 90 lbs), but carbs SUCK for me. Either they hurt going down, OR they make me gain weight. It's SO frustrating, because my goal for after surgery was to be able to eat in moderation, but I'm still in "restrictive mode" when it comes to oats, quinoa, potatoes, bread, rice or pasta/noodles, purely for the fact that they hurts. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching your journey and I'm excited to see how close to your success I can get!

I am in my pre op phase and I just talked to the dietitian about after surgery. He preached nutrition in the same way. Focus on protein and nutrient dense food, but enjoy other foods in moderation. I was so happy to hear that I'll be able to enjoy carbs and sweets as I get further out.

Thank you for this motivating, inspiring, uplifting video. I am 12 days into the 3 week stall after gastric bypass. It’s tough mentally. BUT, I keep doing the things I am supposed to do, trusting, and being patient. Patience is tough for me but I know that impatience and bad habits caused me to get fat in the first place. Thank you for what you do.

Karen I soo needed this !!! I feel exactly like what you’re talking about in terms of feeling like things are not working and I just need to calm down and refocus myself. I’m seven months postop and I lost 34 pounds in the first month so I lost a good chunk of weight in the first month but for the last couple months I’ve kind of been at the same weight I even upped my exercises to five days a week. I’m doing everything but I kept getting on the scale and the Number was not moving so thank you so much for your inspiration I’m just going to refocus and focus on the things that are important. This was such a good video. Thanks so much..❤

Thank you! I’m 8m PO GB and all of your tips are great! Not sure I can hide my scale. Lol But I have reframed how I use the information. My tip start your water when you wake up. It gives you a head start on daily goal. In one of your “what I eat in a day videos “ you shared a recipe with Right Rice. Thank you! I love it. Only able to fit in a small portion right now but it’s been so awesome to expand my meal with it! Now for gym consistency….I’m on it. Congrats on your success! Thanks for sharing with us. ❤

@karensandiego
@karensandiego Год назад
I could do a wholeee video about this. But to put it short, after surgery you can’t eat a lot in one sitting but if you wait about 15 minutes or so you can start to eat again . Some people will sit there and eat until they are full and then wait the 15-30 minutes for some food to digest so they can keep eating and literally just keep doing that over and over again until they finish the meal or whatever it is that they are eating. You would feel uncomfortable if you do this but some people are willing to deal with that pain because they haven’t gotten over their food addiction.
