For that situation, you are senior but fund a junior position. Do recruiters see that as good or bad if you apply for that? how much is your chance to get the position and try to get a promotion
@preeper_, it's a good question, and the answer is, it depends! Ugh, I know that is not a great response! It depends how Senior you are to the role, for example, if the role asks for 3-5 years of experience and you have 6 years, yes, this makes sense. It is when people with 20 years or experience apply to this type of role that the Recruiter will likely instantly move on. And even that is not necessarily true, because that person could have made a career change. If you like the role, apply, and see what happens!
I did the google recruiter phone interview, but got told the team has paused hiring for the role. Is this a nice way of saying I didn't pass the round? If it's not, can I reach out to the recruiter when I see any role that match my experiences? The recruiter also did mention they will look for similar roles to move me forward with another team.
@hankkim3, this is very likely a true statement, this actually happens all the time, so it is just a little bit of bad luck. Make sure you do everything you can to leverage that Recruiter relationship to get you in front of other roles.
