Hi Kevin! Stock ratio is 1:1 (one to one). There are other rockers available for these as well 1.1, 1.2 and of course the 1.3:1 used on this engine. Some guys mix and match to change the valve timings a bit. It's an inexpensive mod.

I know right! These only come with the "rotator" on the exhaust. The 224 Predator head I installed on this one is the same way. I'm not crazy about the stock retainers either, I'd much rather have a set with the split keepers but that'd be another $20 into the $49.95 tiller engine.

@@KentuckyFriedFixes I think the cap helps to lock the retainer in place.

@@DarkCornerGarage You're absolutely correct Dark. I may snatch an exhaust retainer and cap off one of the blown 196 engines coming off the mini bikes and install it on this one. I'd probably be a bit miffed if I dropped a valve on the "Killer Tiller" Thanks man!

Hi Frank, this engine project is just a little fun with one of the $49.95 LCT 179cc engines. It's going on an old TSC Huskee brand garden tiller. These are factory rated at 4.8HP but with the small mods and.291 lift at the valves now I wouldn't be surprised if it made between 6 or 7HP. Thanks!

It's possible, but you can expect to break a rocker every now and then. Usually around 18 to 20lb springs are the max the 1.3 stamped rockers will handle without failing on you. I've seen some that were welded and braced to withstand high spring pressures, but that's quite a bit of work. And out of those that were braced, some still break.
