This song, since the first time I heard it, has been like a prayer for my granddaughter who was in the grip of alcohol and drugs; and praise God she has now been sober for over 2 years and on her way back to herself… because a good man found her and got her out of that desperate situation.
They could honestly release an album of all these acoustic covers of their own songs and it would still be amazing. Love hearing different versions of songs like this
@@katmajic8203 If you wanna try to hear some acoustic music, including covers of other bands' songs, Brandon Flowers has often added a couple songs on his solo tours. They are amazing. For instance, I was blown away when Brandon played this live on his Flamingo tour. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nO_cznnp53E.html
Blowback is a masterpiece, like Be Still and Read My Mind. I'm so proud of your composition and performance, B & R. And Brandon, how you sing it: devastating; beautiful. You're better than all of them, out there. ☺️
I can totally feel this is about his wife fighting depression... thanks for the healing words, Brandon! Anyone going through depression, anxiety, any other disorder, we're gonna fight back!!!
I’m with you. Signed off since the start of March with depression and anxiety. It’s just awful. Waiting on MOSW being released this morning got me through my toughest days yet, which were late last week.
Wow, you can just feel his spirit and emotion in this song. He's not just singing, he's powering out an anthem. Written very quickly because he didn't need to plan it, think it, etc. It was there in his mind begging for release, and he nailed it, I only wish the terrible experiences in his wife's past that she still lives with every day had to happen for this song to get to us all.
Wow, 4 years ago I wrote this. Fast forward, my depression has gained on me, my energy doesn't hold up fighting it as it used to, I hope I can keep it away, but life is highs and lows, I have many high points right now but there is a big low that's rusting away my defenses.
“She doesn’t need you dragging her all through it again” . Brandon talking to whoever or whatever tana had to face earlier in her life. So powerful. Brandon I love you so much.
I mean: She knows where she comes from Doesn't need you dragging her all through it again How perfect is that? How can Brandon sum up so many peoples' whole lives in just a few lines? He is incredible. Thank you for the music. ❤️
I LOVED the "full version" of Blowback but coming back to this it's equally good in a different way. I wish this acoustic version could have been included on a deluxe version of the album, but if they ever make a Sawdust 2 I hope this makes it on there like Sams Town acoustic did. I was so excited while waiting for Wonderful Wonderful, since that was the first album they released after I became a fan. It was a magical experience and I'm glad I got to feel that excitement for a new album again! Their music really is something else.
Yeah an acoustic album or a B-sides album with some covers would be great (like Tom Petty's the Waiting or Elton John's Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters which The Killers have covered). Not to mention neither the 2019 or 2020 versions of Land of the Free have managed to find a home on an album yet. Since they are already back in studio recording the next album, I would bet they have a lot of material on the cutting room floor that somehow didn't manage to make it into Imploding the Mirage or Album #7... so the opportunity certainly is there.
I can see this song being performed acoustically like this in the middle of their set at their concerts, lights out and everybody in the crowd singing their hearts out.. The Killers are such a special band.. beautiful.
@@erarrr8626 No, not really. I saw something similar once at the tv, it was Lionel Richie performing in a footballstadium in The Netherlands. Lionel has a fantastic, warm voice. But not the 40000 motherfuckers that had to sing along with "Hello". Fuck that.
Brandon has always had a special way of delivering lyrics, but with this performance, I can hear something different and realize it’s a deeply personal song. It’s devastatingly beautiful.
I agree with you regarding Queen. The Beatles, however, we could have done without. They are responsible for some of the most lame popsongs ever recorded. The Killers on the other hand is indeed the most gifted band of our era. Snowpatrol is for me the number two.
@@onemanarmyoma0155 what are you on about? the beatles are literally the most influential band in history. without them, so many bands (the killers, oasis, green day etc) would never have even been thought of. the beatles were the reason that i got into music and found all of these other amazing bands, and i’m sure they’ve done that for so many others around the world.
Brandon just said in an interview today that he kinda likes this version more than the studio version! Said he wants it to be their live version now for shows.
I've loved 98% of everything they've made and done since 2005 with All These Things & Hot Fuss (covers/b-sides/solo works and all styles included) .. And I do love this acoustic version of Blowback 💚
Ya know, I have a handful of singers and songwriters that I gravitate toward. Brandon is one of them. I always imagine that he sees someone that crosses his path that he writes a song like this about. He may not even know the person, but he sees them and he creates a story around them, a sort of “backstory” if you will. It’s touching and heavy. It paints a picture of a life that some of us may never know or even quite understand. It reaches into a place that is deep within most of us that we never even knew existed. It’s such a beautiful thing.
Brandon flowers is a significantly better singer than I thought after seeing these 2020 live tracks. He’s also a really good looking dude both now and in the hot fuss days.
Brandon flowers is my hero I’m so thankful to have heard the killers when I did it sounds cheesy but I think I wouldn’t be the same person I am today without them
That's a beautiful lyrical song, sung by a masterful artist that has so much talent that he got to be in a band called The Killers, why not the The Let Livers
I'm glad there are still these two :) even if it's not "The Killers" anymore after Dave and Mark left. But Brandon and Ronny are still so good, and hands down the two were always my favourite band members..
one of Brandon's forays into this type of songwriting that comes off as truly masterful instead of homage. lyrics are descriptive without being heavy handed, which has always been his falling point imo
