I love what you say about failure. A great teacher once told me that, "Fail fast and fail in a safe environment." The reason little kids learn so fast is that they're constantly trying and failing without caring what others think. As we're older, we care too much about what others think and are afraid to try because we might mess up.

Thank you! I'm thinking of actually creating an account on RU-vid and sharing my ideas. I'm a Christian teen and I see so many problems with society. A lot of young people need to hear encouragement and truth. Any ideas on where to get started and what to avoid saying to not be offensive? I just don't want to offend and come across as a judgmental religious person.

This is THE MOST powerful dissertation I have ever heard on failure and perfectionism. I struggle daily with perfectionism in just about every realm of life. Great advice!! Be yourself unapologetically. The part where you talk about always having a second chance is a good way to see things. There's single men everywhere and if one doesn't like you or work out, there's always others.

Failure is also an opportunity to reevaluate our beliefs! Sometimes we feel like we have failed when really we are setting unrealistic standards, or success standards that really do not mean anything four ourselves (for example when a perfectly in shape woman feels that she is fat)! Thank you so much for sharing this! I've always struggled with this unnecessary need for "perfection." You then realize that it's far more enticing to let loose, be yourself and it's always nice to hear that "you're a cool girl!" from a guy. I love this video and your energy! I find I'm my most confident at work. I'm so free, I don't care if people laugh or judge(I have frequent solo dance parties at my desk), but I can't translate this to outside of work (even around the people I work with)! It's like I'm two seperate people.

I love that your advice is clear, honest and direct. It´s great to have the insight of a real man who is able to see the value of real women!!!! Thanks for sharing your point of view and encouraging women to be autentic and real and not the dolls we´re told to be. Mat--I'm catching up on your messages today and you shared another profound truth: the destructiveness of perfection. I was raised by a father that worshiped perfection and was always telling me how I could be better, look better, present myself better, etc. I have always put my best foot forward and my appearance is always immaculate but I thought that was a good thing! In reality, I am a big goof-ball and like to do crazy and fun things but I often retain that side of me until I know the person much, much better. You are really challenging me to do things differently! Thank you.

You're message, "Failure is not failing, it is simply feedback" is a tough one for me to accept during finding love. Your statement is 100% correct but it's difficult when the relationships repeatedly don't end up happening. It's funny because I can follow this statement for work and life, but come to love and quite honestly it stings. Thanks for the wonderful videos and this one really got me thinking :)

I notice this was my biggest issue when dating I would be into the guy so much till im so afraid of messing it up fear of failing like I have done in the pass that he didnt see this playful and awesome side of myself when you gave the definition of failure that really open my eyes to a different way of seeing things and I really thank you for that you're awesome :)
