This mic definitely has a distinctive look. But how does it sound? Also, I discovered a surprise inside the mic itself that no one else seems to be talking about.

Nice balanced review. The King Bee II sounds good on your voice. I have actually never found it to sound "bright" at all. In fact, it seems to be quite sensitive to some of the low resonance of my voice and throw things off a tad. I wanted to love it, but I actually slightly prefer its smaller and cheaper sibling, the Worker Bee II (I actually have both the original Worker Bee and the WB2, but not the original King Bee).

Thanks for your comment! Looks like the King Bee II is now a "collectors item". I think it's been discontinued.

@@MatthewHaines If that's the case then I guess I'll hang on to mine. I still use the Worker Bees all the time and love them.

But I want to swing the microphone around like a lasso. Also, from the config of the rear of the capsule, that is a 797 audio k67, same as the one used in the old Studio Projects C1.

For a swinging mic, I recommend the SM58. Or anything that attaches via USB. Thanks for the K67 confirmation!

This, cad e100sx or the rode nt1 signature series?

I personally like the darker sound of the E100Sx. Since it has pads and low rolloff options, I'd probably chose that over the King Bee. It's also smaller. CAD Audio does sell a foam pop filter that fits the funky "ice cream sandwich" shape of the E100Sx, which is a must-have option. I don't have any opinion on the NT1 because I've never used one.
