Review of the Sanrenmu 9063 aka Real Steel E963. This knife is basically a larger version of a popular knife from a few years ago, the SRM 763. It's a great choice for a medium-large EDC.

What i forgot to mention for those who are interested in the design of this knife, there is a titan version with vg10 steel, the s963. One of the cheapest (in to pay...) full titan knives with a decent steel.

I WANT, I WANT, I WANT. I found the unlabeled Sanrenmu on Fasttech today 25 April 2016. Regarding the framelock cutout. We also need to consider how far back the fulcrum point is when we think about how thin it is. The further the cutout is from the lockup point the less flexing that actually occurs and therefore the cutout section undergoes less movement and therefore lower risk of breaking. It is indeed the weakest point of the lock but I think it would be a stretch to call it actually weak.

I was curious about this knife. Fine review. Thanks

I can see this already excellent knife improved even better with an axis lock. Throw in an anodized back spacer like the SRM-9055 has, along with machined macarta scales, and you've got yourself a masterpiece.

I've got this knife today(the unbranded one) from a dude online, although it was listed as "used" the guy never used it. bought it and never actually did anything with it. My thoughts so far - I love it. It's sharp, opens and closes very smoothly, the linear lock works great no blade play both vertically and horizontally, comfortable handle. For a very cheap knife I'm impressed. Overall -quality materials used and nice fit and finish - I like it, it's an awesome blade.

Thank you so much for this video. At some point I'm going to get the Real Steel E771 Sea Eagle. I wanted to try this "new" brands somewhat upmarket knives and the E771 was the one for me. It's a gorgeous knife. But I didn't know about the E963 or even that the company was from Sanrenmu. Thats even better. So thanks for the info and the info of another fine knife from Sanrenmu/Real Steel.

Nice review and a good recommendation for viewers who are in search for a very decent, low priced EDC knife. I carry this model also every day. I like it very much. But a con also is that it needs to be sharpened/stropped frequently. From Real Steel i also have the H6 Blue Sheep, that's a beast of a knife with better steel. This knife is very nice to play with it. So smooth. Then i have the H5 Gerfalcon. The same steel as the H6, but a little smaller and a flipper on bearings. Also a very nice knife that i carry a lot. Then the E79. That's probably the smoothest knife i ever held in hands. No bearings. Just washers. Smooth as butter. And the E77. This is a flipper and also very smooth. Both E79 and E77 are somewhat smaller then the previous models and like the E963 the blade is from 8cr steel. This steel is easyli stropped to hair popping sharp, but needs to be stropped frequently. Finally i am waiting on the H6 S1 model with Carbon Fiber. And i am considering the Megalodon, a larger titanium flipper.

Henk Hakvoort Thanks. Also thanks for the info on the Real Steel stuff. I haven't gotten into their more expensive models yet.

Nice looking knife for the money. Interesting about the branded vs non branded versions. I like your video format too BTW.

Ian Wolfe Thanks regarding the format. I'll try to do my longer views like this. It came out a little more focused than some of my other stuff.

The lock bar thickness doesn't matter because the way the contact surfaces are ground with angles so that the lock pops off when its under pressure .

I've been looking at Real Steel knives for a while. Check out the E77, it's a clone of an SRM 9054 but with a true liner lock. My favorite Real Steel is the H6 Blue Sheep. If you've ever used a Rat 1, the H6 is kind of like a premium Rat 1 on steroids. Enjoy the channel, keep up the good work!

Just bought the Ganzo 712 acid-etched knife from the Lady Lizard site. The last time I got a custom knife I was 11 years old...my dad purchased it for me in Jackson Hole, while we were visiting Yellowstone. That was 37 years ago. It was an original Ruana hand made knife, which I've kept mint to this day. I did wear it on my belt the day of purchase. We left the car to venture onto a trail. I felt like Jim Bowie with that thing hanging off of my belt...until we both stopped to read the bear warning stapled to the tree and the "enter at your own risk" disclaimer. The last things I remember were the asses and elbows as we ran back to the car. So much for the big knife. In any event, I saw a RU-vid review by Joben and thought I'd give him my business. Looking forward to this awesome knife! Who knows...I may even use this one!

Is the 9063 spring assisted? I'm looking for a knife that'll last that's non spring assist...

how about that bottle opener? does it work without messing up the knife?
@Lazylizardgear

asleepyinsomnia Yup. It's not the greatest bottle opener, but it functions and it shouldn't mar anything.

Real Steel has some very appealing knives, although I dont consider this to be one of them but thanks for the review anyways :)

I've heard these knives employ hollow stop pins. True?
@Lazylizardgear

Timothy Smith If i recall correctly from the last time i had one apart they are solid.
@Lex5576

+Timothy Smith Many of the Enlan/Bee knives have hollow stop pins, or at least they'll have screws on both sides of the stop pin. I've never had one to fail though. I put a few of them through hard use, especially the EL-01, with no trouble or failure at the stop pin.

It seems at least in the video, that the two bkades looked like differnt steels or maybe different finish on them?

grind it off, drill and tap it. Come on, show the knife who is _Boss_. Buy a second for spare parts and a third to stash...or modify heavily.
