This was one of the better movies I’d never heard of. It is a fantastic take on human nature and how the majority of people never fail to do the wrong thing while at the same time destroying the few dissenting voices of reason.
Yes, small towns are creepy and weird. Stephen King taught us that back in the 80s. This is just more of that same theme. Cities can have bad places, bad people. But a bad small town is just bad everywhere.
Yup i knew it..just watched it and it WAS good but the ending kinda ruined it..n also makes u wonder what happened next. It was def a good idea they cud of done alot more with it, gotten more good actors n then make another one :/

An emotionally vulnerable individual with extreme supernatural powers being used and then rejected and disappointed by the humans who are "the real monster" trope just refuses to die. As long as there are simpletons to pay for watching it, I guess the derivative nonsense will keep flourishing.
There are only so many stories - it's the way they're told that makes them each unique. I can't tell from the trailer whether this is a well told story or not. At least it doesn't have four twenty-something friends taking a vacation out in a deserted cabin in the woods, or a shot of somebody (almost always a female) being dragged, screaming, into the darkness. There is some hope. Although this one has the requisite elderly lady going all cultish. Not a good sign.

The reason why horror genre is going down... Slow psychological crap.. But 2024 has seen a comeback for real horror movies. So I'm not worried about this..
