Designed by renowned architect E. Stewart Williams, FAIA,1955. Landscape design by the Office of Eckbo, Dean, Royston, and Williams. This private sprawling property is one of Palm Springs’s most architecturally significant, midcentury modern estates. Sited on a 4-parcel almost 1-acre flat street to street lot, this magnificent post and beam with walls of glass has unobstructed mountain views and sprawling private grounds. The entry greets visitors with a fountain that spills into a palm sheltered pond. Sandstone walkways flow from the exterior into the approximately 4200 SqFt interior. The large L-shaped estate looks out out to a large pool, expansive grassy lawns; several ponds and fountains; a tea house; botanical cactus gardens; native boulder beds; citrus trees; a shuffleboard court; built-in outdoor seating, fireplace and barbecue. The interior features iconic Williams' architectural details including natural teak wood paneling; built in cabinetry, credenzas, and vanities; wood ceilings; slumpstone walls and fireplace; clerestory windows; board-and-batten redwood siding; original fixtures; and solar.. The estate includes 4-ensuite bedrooms and baths, plus maids quarters or office with bath; large living and dining rooms; a sunroom; open kitchen; and an interior pond and atrium. Setback from the street, this extremely private one level property has sliders with outdoor access and mountain views from every room. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Koerner house and architect have been the subject of several books, publications and films. Williams distinct style significantly shaped mid-century modern architecture in Palm Springs.

This was staging for the sale. The current owner has been restoring thins back to the original state. I reproduced a bunch of mid-century la dscape lights for him. He had a couple of the original Al's that were nearly destroyed. He took me on a tour and it's probably the best house I've ever been in.

Amazingly timeless… Except for the patio, which amazingly had holes cut out for the trees… What builders save trees in the 2000s… NONE!
