This is definitely the old smooth Taeyang we missed! I knew it was gonna be a hit when it released!

Shoong is my number 1 song this year. I mean its a a perfect song by two of the greatest kpop idols today.

Shoong is a masterpiece🩶🩶🩶🩶 the collab is perfection...

There is a reason why he suddenly started to dance in "Seed". During that exact moment, the lyrics go: "The movie-like traces of my life, Could never be retrieved." He is making reference to his past glory as BB, so he is dressed up as he would in a concert and doing his usual spins. the only difference is he is now alone and in a dessert (nobody around). If you recall in the BIGBANG Made movie intro, there is a scene with 5 of them dressed in suits, carrying suitcases and coming out of a fancy car just like here, but now he is alone and instead of coming out of the car into a fancy set, he is alone in the dessert. He is saying, those times can never be retrieved. "Seed" is my favorite song of this album and favorite song released this year in general.

When Lisa went to YGE for the very first time, taeyang was leaving. On his way out he and he saw Lisa for the first time and she was singing Justin Bieber song. He told her “ you’re gonna be great” …. I wish I could see Lisa reaction knowing how much she love Big Bang/2ne1 😂

I'm so happy you reacted to this! As a long time taeyang fan, Shoong really satisfied all my wishes for a taeyang comeback and song. I was instantly happy when I heard it for the first time and I still bop to it. One of my favorite songs from him, it has everythinggg The visuals of the MV, he is gorgeous, the dance is fire, the beat is great, his voice is divine, lisa's rap is one of her bests raps (imo), and the song gets better and better, it changes on every verse but with consistency. Songs nowadays are so short, with boring choruses and random lyrics, somehow a classic song is refreshing. He made me really happy!

I don't know what I expected from Shoong, but it is exactly what I hoped for. Taeyang already gave us the perfect K-Pop ballad with Eyes, Nose, Lips and now we have the perfect K-Pop R&B song. The video also has probably the perfect dance combo. This song was an instant classic.

I still listen to this song almost daily. When I saw the video the first time, Taeyang nearly killed me. Then seeing Deukie and Dony in it to revived me! Other than a Big Bang reunion, you couldn't ask for more than Taeyang and the Kwon Twins on screen together. Then throw in one of the two female Kpop artists I like and it's perfect.

In his documentary he said that "Shoong" was the song he created while playfully bouncing ideas off in the studio with the other producers. It was the first song of his album that got completed which helped sort of jumpstart the other songs. After creating Shoong it helped him find joy in creating music again. The whole concept of his Down to Earth album is coming back down to the basics, to his roots to the core of who he is. That is where "Seed" comes in. His favorite music has always been old Korean ballads of the 80s and 90s which he feels is the golden age of Korean music. So he wanted to create a song in this style with a modern twist. Originally, "Still Life" was created as his solo based on this mindset, but he gave that up for the group song. So, "Seed" is of a similar vein, but this time it really reflected Taeyang's own personal feelings, his struggles and thoughts during his hiatus. He said he went though a hard time during military and hiatus where he thought he wouldn't be able to do music again. This song reflects those thoughts and emotions. The reason the English title is "Seed" is because to him this is a fresh start to creating something new. Just as a tree starts as a seed, once planted it blooms and grows into something beautiful. He hopes that this music is a small seed that will become a stronger and richer tree again. "Through this album, I want to plant a new seed with my fans so we can grow a tree and start new memories together."

Been a taeyang fan since 2010. He is the EPITOME of korean r&b, he is the only asian artist who does r&b without it being awkward or cringe. He has truly truly mastered the art of this genre imo… so when he screamed F*CK, i felt that yo. we’re getting taeyang 2.0 right now, if he was good before, he is GREAT now

The female dancers are Noze from WayB & Lee Jung from YGX, both participant of Street Woman fighter. The male dancers are members from Just Jerk as well as other YGX dancers, who participated in Street Man Fighter. The two first dancers you see dancing alongside Taeyang are Dony & Deukie a.k.a the Kwon Twins. They have been dancing for YG Artists since back when 2NE1 debuted in 2009. They also have been in several YG artists MVs. They even have their own Fancams on Inkigayo due to their popularity.

Down to Earth is such a good album. My god, Seed is my comfort song. It just hits different with his voice and the emotions ❤️❤️

I have been a fan since the beginning of Big Bang when he had braids. This video and song was beyond my expectation. He was my first ever bias and got me into K-Pop. I will always be a fan of his.

Great reaction. I love Taeyang's Down To Earth album. It holds so much meaning and is healing for all VIPs. Seed mv and song symbolises so much for VIPs in many of the scenes and lyrically. Song of the year for me. 💛 Timeless.

TaeYang said the reason why he chose Seed as an English title for 나의 마음에 was because he felt that the literal translation "In My Heart" wasn't enough to fully communicate the meaning that the lyrics held. He talked more about this song and in general about this EP in an interview with Spotify. With Seed he wanted to capture the essence of Korean songs from the 80s/early 90s, where those songs lyrically had the Korean sentiments in them. He compared this to Still Life by BIGBANG and so he wanted to make this song in this way as well. He also mentioned there he saw Lisa's audition to YG back then... it was really interesting interview. From b-sides he recommended my favorite one Night Fall featuring his label mate Bryan Chase, I hope you listen to that EP! Because that EP is sooo good!! Like... Teddy... you are really going somewhere with The Black Label, right? 😅😻

Shoong it's for sure one of my fav of the year, SO GOOD!

As an old BB fan, Vibe was good and felt very Taeyang but I felt like something was missing for me? Shoong hit that itch for me. I guess as a single? title track? (or something that clearly wouldn’t be a r&b ballad haha) - it checks the boxes for me for this kind of Taeyang release. Seed, in its own other way was also what I was hoping from Taeyang. As much as I enjoyed all 3 songs mentioned above, I think my most played song from this ep is actually one of his other B-side tracks.

It has been a very hard 6 years for BigBang and YG in general. Taeyang was stuck in the army for some considerable time, unable to do anything . He talked how on the military base he saw a beautiful sunset and made him think how at sunset the sun is meet only by darkness . That was his situation too. Is so great to have him back. Down to Earth is an amazing album and honestly the people who only listen to Vibe and Shoong are missing out . Nightfall is my favorite song and Inspiration my second . The entire album is just pure good music . I hope you see the special performance of Nightfall. Such a damn good song 😊

Like you said, this is exactly what I wanted!!!! Taeyang is the whole reason I got into kpop, and this slower r&b is what I live for! His voice is just so perfectly suited for it! Shoong showed of his vocals that I fell in love with, and it was just candy for my ears. Cue the tingles like from asmr. But this definitely took me back to those first songs I fell in love with (his sol album). I've been waiting for your reaction, I know you love Taeyang and have been waiting for this! Taeyang the jesus of kpop bc during DTE roll out, his meme blow up and united the fandom and community. His tiktok challanges also spanned from all agencies and generations. He even did the challenge w G-Dragon and Daesung. Alot of newer fans may downplaying his comeback and the numbers but its apparent that the gp missed him so much. He also puts efforts to variety shows and other content. Cant wait for G-Dragon's turn!

First of all, I'd like to say that Taeyang's voice is still soo good as ever and it's felt like forever, (as always lol jk)😆 and that I was really happy to see you reacting and reviewing the songs I'm not that good with words but I'll try to explain what I want to say as good as I can. Yes, there will be no other Taeyang but Taeyang himself. I've been here for a long while and I've never heard and tasted such a sweet and soulful flavor that he brings. I'm going to go off center a bit and just say, there's this YG thing where each artist's individuality is emphasized. I think its the best in industry because, instead of focusing on their artist more on being a part of a group, it's focused on a 'you are part of a group, that's important, but you are also you, which is also important' kind of deal and it shows so damn hard. (Correct me if I'm wrong tho but that's what I've observed) Taeyang came and delivered something really good. When Vibe came out, I had no idea what my expectations were, but it had a different vibe to Taeyang's previous songs overall, and it was pretty good actually, there was just this feeling that I wasn't used to. Then came 'Shoong!' and boy was it something. It was similar to 'Vibe' but had more of what felt familiar and felt more Taeyang. If I were to compare both songs, Vibe felt like mint chocolate and Shoong! more cookies and cream. (The featurings have no weight on what I felt on either song, and they're both good) I guess it's because Vibe had more of a pop genre to it and Shoong! more of the usual RnB. I wasn't hoping for much, but that spark came to life when Taeyang went on to cover songs like Wayo, just the hope to hear Taeyang's voice again 😆 So far, I'm pretty happy, elated even, and hoping to hear more I do also hope the current generation of fans also get to know Taeyang. He may be already considered old in the kpop fandoms but he's still pretty awesome and it doesn't look like he's aged a day tbh 😁

I was so happy with the entire DTE album, and especially with Shoong. It just felt so right and so much like Taeyang. Like the old YG we know and love, but like you said, slightly modernized without loosing that signature sound. I was disappointed it didn't get more attention. Glad you finally got around to this one. Seed was beautiful, and the rest of the album was beautiful. It felt like the most beautiful gift as a fan. Grateful he came back.

You probably don’t really follow the dancing scene or YG dancers or the very well known have their own fandom and fancams on music show dancers of YG. The Kwon Twins have been with YGE for a long time..as someone said they started when 2NE1 was about to debut. Their names is Dony and Deukie, it’s funny cuz Dony actually was a YG trainee alongside WINNER’s Jinu and Yoon the original Team A before some trainees got cut and WIN:WHO IS NEXT happened in 2013. Dony decided to just become a dancer in YG alongside his equally talented brother Deukie and well they became popular! They got close with all the YG artists former and current and still keep in touch with them. You are right some of them did compete in their respective Street Man Fighter/Street Woman Fighter competition that blew up in SKOREA as well as Just Jerk who is also close and collaborated with YG artists throughout the years. So as another comment said, seeing taeyang with the kwon twins again just gave us nostalgia. Kwon Twins was at every big bang concert or solo concerts.
