In November 2005, Sandy Munroe kissed his wife of more than 40 years goodbye. Heli Munroe, who had Alzheimer’s disease, was leaving their Nova Scotia home to have lunch with her brother who was visiting from England. Monroe would not see his wife, again for almost two years. Heli’s brother, Marek Pospieszalski, took her back to England with him without telling Munroe.
One year after her disappearance, Monroe launched a publicity campaign in a bid to convince many politicians that his wife was kidnapped by a vengeful family member, and that government inaction prevented him from bringing her back.
Hana Gartner and a Fifth Estate team tracked down Heli Monroe's family in England and spoke to them.
