Do not re-sign a FA defenseman for anything more than league min (Davidson, Heed, or Middleton) 4. Re-sign Suomela and Kellman for league min. Re-sign Jumbo and Noesen for $1M AAV. Bring back Patty for $1M 5. If the team carries 7 D-men, that's $10M in cap room to sign Labanc, a new backup goalie, and a new Top 6 RW. 6. Given the flat cap, if Wilson were to convince Sharks fans that he really wants the team to be competitive again, he likely has to trade a large contract. Burns has the best trade value out of the 3 that would likely be shipped away (Vlasic and Jones too), and Merkley is luckily in the system 7. The best-case scenario is that Melnichuk is viewed as a backup G (On an entry-level deal), Labanc takes $2-2.5M AAV, and the Sharks have enough money to sign a Top 6 RW without trading a large contract.

It probably will suck, the best thing to do is to ride it out and stay strong.

I'd suggest getting competent ownership that DOESN'T blow extensive contracts on glass houses (Karlsson) rather than experienced captains, but San Jose chose an overrated injury prone goal scorer over an experienced captain. Meanwhile, that captain helped his team to the postseason. And the Sharts? DEAD LAST IN THE PACIFIC DIVISION, WHILE THE KNIGHTS WON THE PACIFIC XD Oh, and for the record, a speedy goal scorer doesn't make a good captain in Couture.
