Today I'm reviewing the EZ-DUZ-IT can opener. This is a unique product because it's the last can opener being made in the USA, which they aren't shy about telling you. Does it hold up to it's claims of good ol' American manufacturing standards? Watch and find out!

I had a similar experience. I went through many cheap can openers, then I went to a thrift store and got a solid steel one.

Good idea picking up one from the thrift. I feel that this is one of the only good ones still made, but the thrift store opens you up to any of the ones from when products were actually made to last! Thanks for the comment

I've even had problems with the all metal ones. I used to have one that worked well for years but the ex has it and I've been on the same search. I'll have to try the recommendations here.

Ditto on your story for the most part. Part of the issue is you see a brand and they own multiple labels on lots of items you buy. Not sure if that is the same with can openers but I was asking people about this about the time this video came out. Glad I came about this channel via another video. Still like the design of one grew up with as it is more compact the only downfall (from what I heard it lasted decades though) was the the it turned on or around plastic core (the rest was metal).

I too am sick & tired of cheap chinese metal bending, rusting, falling apart at the hinge. Thanks for the video. All 3 of my recent ones worked well at first, then in no time (very light use, i'm a fresh food fanatic) they'd break. I passed on the EZ-DUZ-IT because of many 1 star reviews on Amazon seemed no better than the others.

I laughed at the beginning of this video when you asked who's going to watch this video. I'm not going to lie, I bought so many in the past couple of years that it's ridiculous. I remember having one many years ago that lasted for years. Your video made me realize that it was probably made in the USA. Anyway, I will be buying one of these because I'm seriously frustrated by the fact that these can openers only last a month or two. They usually start slipping. The funny thing is that I barely use it. My roommate uses it a lot. So out of curiosity I Googled "how long does a can opener las?" I scrolled down and the very first video that showed up for being on RU-vid was yours so that's a good thing for your video. Thank you for your info. Definitely makes sense and hopefully when I get one, it'll last longer than usual. I'll try to remember to come back to reply and let you and others know any updates.

I’m glad to hear you found the video and I hope the EZ-DUZ-IT works for you! Make sure you dry it after using and it should last a really long time - looking forward to your update!

I had a very similar experience recently. The can opener my parents owned my whole upbringing never had any issues and I had assumed can openers were a technology which had been perfected. I bought a dollar store can opener which didn't work well at all, I bought a couple thrift store can openers assuming they would be better quality since they were old and they didn't work, I got fed up with lousy garbage and bought a couple simple P51 military can openers which I remember working well whenever I had to use them when I was a kid (but they're so small I lost them), and eventually I bought one at Target for $16 which didn't look like total garbage and is so far getting the job done but I suspect it will not last 40+ years. I think I'll probably end up buying an EZ-DUZ-IT for convenience and also a simple claw or lever style can opener as a reliable and non-mechanical backup.

Good to hear that I’m not the only one who has been through the ringer finding a decent can opener. Sounds like having a mechanical and more basic option both is a good move!

Those dollar store can openers are good in a pinch, but terrible daily drivers. We bought a Kitchenaid brand can opener for about $15 or more at Walmart and it seems to be holding up well. An electric can opener is also an option. I have not used one that was made in the past few decades, so I cannot compare it to the quality of the ones made today.

Glad the kitchenaid option has been good for you. My parents old one is one mean machine! Agreed dollar store ones make terrible daily drivers too!

Before watching...made in usa is key. If you can go to an antique store, look for the old style basic can opener from the mid century. They are the best and will outlast you.

My aunty gave me this heavy duty super nice can opener.. been with me for like 15 years now. Just says USA stamped on it no brand. I recently asked her where she got it and told her I still have it. She said toss it and buy OXO or whatever.. checked them out and it’s cool for sure. But.. I like my old school, 3# friggin beefy can opener. I mean… it’s REALLY good. I’ll make a RU-vid shirt if you wanna see that mofo in action. I adore it lol

I'd definitely jump on that if I lived in the US or Canada but alas I live in the UK. I have the same problem, can openers, what's wrong with them, it's so infuriating lol!

"The Last Can Opener You'll Ever Buy" ...that was a Swing-a-Way now 30+ years old. It seems counter intuitive, but I find turning the can opener counter clockwise to be better (jumps off the can less) than clockwise.

Interesting idea, I’ll try! And you’re right - the old Swing-a-Ways were a can opening marvel!

despite technology connections video, i hate the modern style can openers that go for the crease, i love these style because theyre fast at mowing down tons of weird shaped cans when i make chili, and you can use the lid to squeeze tuna water out unlike modern ones

Agreed - especially on the part of using it to drain liquids from certain canned goods!

Made in USA doesn't mean what it used to. They still make with cheap materials in the US. This is why there are a lot of reviews saying it this can opener also fails after a couple weeks. I've seen pics of the teeth chewed up like the Chinese ones, and the handles broken off. I was hoping you were going to show a new can opener. I also hate rubbized handles. They start slipping or they just lessen the room between the handles and as weeks go buy the steel starts to bend, then the rubber starts to touch, and then you can't grip enough for it to make a good solid hold and cut through.
@spencers-adventures
@spencers-adventures 16 дней назад
You’re right that Made In USA doesn’t always guarantee quality. However I think this is an exception. It’s tough to find a comparable all metal can opener nowadays, especially in the swing away design. I’ve been using this for over a year now and it’s been such a great tool, no complaints and still stand by my review. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

So what makes this better than my 25+ y.o. Swing-A-Way?
@spencers-adventures
@spencers-adventures 4 месяца назад
It’s probably not better. I was made in the USA with the same equipment as the EZ-DUZ-IT, so it’s pretty much identical. It’s just if people want to buy a swing-a-way brand new today, I’d say to look elsewhere. Any older made in USA can opener is going to be pretty much bulletproof. You’re already at the finish line!
