Last night, episodes 3 & 4 of the Michael Jordan documentary 'The Last Dance' premiered, and Chris Broussard joins Nick Wright and Kevin Wildes to give his take. Hear why Nick and Broussard agree that this episode highlighted how grossly underappreciated Isiah Thomas is, why Phil Jackson may be the GOAT, and how great coaching taught MJ he didn't need to win every championship by himself, something Broussard thinks Los Angeles Lakers great LeBron James hasn't had.

NIck, you're just an idiot. When people say 'on MJ's watch' it means once he sniffed the Finals and won. No ONE in their right mind would say, MJ walked into the league and won titles straight away. Only Morons like yourself, who like to ride LBJ, would say something stupid like this. p.s stop using Broussard in your thumbnail and heading, it's quite evident no one clicks when they know it's you.

I hope people understands that Phil was not yet considered all time great when he coached MJ. He was an assistant coach in the beginning. He even lost the championship in his first year as head coach. But rather than quitting on his coach, MJ worked harder. Then, the team also worked harder. Phil is great coach, but his greatness was matetialized because of his championships. So i do not think it diminishes MJs goatness just because he was coached by Phil and some other athlete was not.

@Fakename70
@Fakename70 4 года назад
Ryan Jackson’s overall coaching resume includes 11 NBA championships and least 1 more outside of that over the course of a couple decades. There’s a large enough body of work to draw from. The sample size is still too comparatively small with Kerr to anoint him to legendary status. This is only his 6th season. Impressive? Yes. One of the best to EVER do it? Not even close.

Guy-Roland Seri : Right? If we were talking about NFL QB’s his tune would be different. He contradicts himself, too. He always cites Mahomes’s (volume) stats as evidence that he’s the best QB in the league. But there are two things he doesn’t understand: Russell Wilson’s stats match Mahomes’s when you control for pass attempts, and his efficiency stats are equal or better. Secondly, Mahomes hasn’t done anything on the field that Wilson hasn’t done repeatedly over the last 8 seasons. On top of it, Russ wins in situations that others (including Mahomes) don’t. But there’s Nick always caping for Mahomes. He and Max Kellerman irritate tf out of me with that bs. Oh, but because he wants to stump for Isiah, stats don’t tell the full story - which (fwiw) I agree with.

The NBA changed the rules to help Jordan win while the NBA rules were trying to end and stop the Detroit Pistons' reign... plus Detroit was injured, which is why they lost in 1991 and didn't bring back Vinnie Johnson and James Edwards for 1991-92... so the Pistons go from an injured 50 win team that made it to the 1991 ECF to a healthy 1992 team that gets bounced in the first round - that's how valuable Vinnie Johnson and James Edwards were for the Pistons.

Michael Jordan didn't inherit a hall of fame coach. Kobe and Shaq inherited a hall of fame coach. Michael Jordan inherited Phil Jackson who was a Bulls assistant coach learning the triangle offense under Tex Winters. Before the Bulls Phil had never coached in the NBA. He coached the CBA and in the Puerto Rican League. The Bulls went to the Eastern Conference finals in 89' under Doug Collins one year before Phil was made the head coach. I'm not trying to take away from Phil's accomplishments but Michael was CLEARLY a Hall of fame caliber player who had won League MVP and Defensive player of the the year under another coach. PHIL BECAME A HALL OF FAME COACH ONCE HE INHERITED THE GOAT! Let's stop with these misconceptions please.

Nick Wright, the 1988 Pistons had seven guys who averaged double figure scoring. Isiah played on a team with Adrian Dantley, a guy who once averaged over 30ppg on over 56% shooting from the floor for 3 straight seasons during his prime! Dantley was later traded for Mark Aguire, a guy who once averaged 30ppg on over 52% shooting or the Dallas Mavericks. Isiah, Dumars, Dantley and Rodman are all in the HOF. That makes four Hall of Famers on one team! Let's not act like Isiah didn't have an abundance of offensive help!

He is unselfish and willing passer, but acting like he is doing What Magic, Stockton, Kidd were doing is stupid. He 260 barrels at the basket and kicks out to one of 3 team mates standing at 3 PT line. 2 of those team mates " who he makes better" 20 pts and 10 reb plus guys. Joe Smith I think that bringing up Kevin loves numbers is kinda unfair. He went from being the number one option on an awful team that couldn’t even make the playoffs to the number three option. Also what has he done since lebron left Cleveland? Last I checked he hasn’t gone back to scoring 25 and 14. Lebron is one of the best passers of all time. He is more magic johnson than Michael Jordan. This year only helps to show that. He made the switch to being the full time point guard and is leading the league in assists. Ya sure, for most of his career he was playing a different style than the other great point guards cus he had to be his team’s primary scoring option too but this year I don’t see how you couldn’t compare him to them

Nick is clearly paid to say the ridiculous things he says. I'm sorry, but if you have to go ALL the way back to the first 3 years of a player's career(the 1-9 before Pippen argument) and unfairly nitpick a point of an athletes career where they have little to no expectations, that just speaks volumes to how great MJ is. Most great players, including some mount rushmore guys don't even SNIFF a playoff birth until around their 4th year or so in the league. If a rookie or sophomore pushes a team to a playoff birth, even if it results in a sweep, thats something you normally celebrate, not mock. Players who are not in their primes are NOT supposed to lead playoff births.

@@deucedeuce3613 Not really, he was not favored in 98 and many of the series people believed the series could've gone both ways. The teams LeBron faced minus the KD Warriors(the 73 win warriors on paper were not really any better than the Thunder or Cavaliers and the Spurs have the most embarrassing post season defeats of any great dynasty which puts them below the celtics, lakers and bulls) were not any better than the teams MJ faced which the Majority were 60+ win teams. I think there needs to be more context behind LeBron's 3-6 record as I do not really hold 2007 or 2015 against him, but 2011? You cannot be the GOAT and have a meltdown as severe as 2011 on your resume and IMHO, you need at least 1 three peat to be the GOAT as the alpha star. LBJ would've had that if 2011 didn't happen. The Bulls didn't have two three peats because of "pure talent," they have 2 three peats because they were smarter and tougher than everyone else by a significant margin.

LEBRON HAS HAD MORE HELP AND TALENT IN THIS ERA THAN ANY OTHER PLAYER, HIS MIAMI HEAT TEAM WAS STACKED ALL 4 YRS AND SO WAS CLEVELAND WITH CURRENT AND FORMER ALL-STARS STARTING AND COMING OFF THE BENCH. ON ANOTHER NOTE. WE ALL KNOW WHY LEBRON HASN'T HAD A GREAT COACH, CAUSE A GREAT COACH COMES WITH A TEAM SYSTEM AND LEBRON CAN ONLY PLAY ONE WAY AND THAT'S BEING A BALL DOMINANT PLAYER. LEBRON HAS A LIMITED SKILL SET AND HIS OWN PERSONAL SYSTEM HELPS MASK THOSE DEFICIENCY. LEBRONS PERSONAL SYSTEM REVOLVES AROUND HIM BEING BALL DOMINANT SURROUNDED BY SHOOTERS, THIS HELPS CREATES SPACE FOR EASY DRIVES AGAINST SMALLER PLAYERS TO THE BASKET, EASY PASSES & ASSIST TO OPEN WING PLAYERS AND EASY REBOUNDS CAUSE EVERYONE IS PULLED OUT TO THE PERIMETER. THIS IS WHY I'VE ALWAYS CALLED LEBRON'S PERSONAL SYSTEM... THE LERBON JAMES STAT PAD SYSTEM CAUSE ITS BEEN DESIGNED WITH THE CURRENT NBA RULES IN MIND ( NO HAND CHECKING, 3-SECOND LANE VIOLATION ) TO PLACE THE BALL IN HIS HANDS 85-90% OF THE TIME TO HELP PAD HIS STATS ACROSS THE BOARD. PLAYING IN THIS SYSTEM ALMOST HIS ENTREE CAREER WITH MULTIPLE ALL-STARS IN A WEAK EASTERN CONFERENCE HAS ALLOWED HIM TO CLIMB THE STATS LIST AND MAKE 9 FINALS BUT ALSO IS THE PRIMARY REASON LEBRON IS 3-6 IN THOSE FINALS, LEBRONS SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO BENEFIT HIM NOT HIS TEAM.

Once Jordan won, he didn’t lose( other than in 1995 because he was coming off retirement) Lebron lost in his first try in 2011, wins 2, then loses again, then loses again. In 2016 he came back from being down 1-3 and won his biggest championship. Then lost then lost then went to west and didn’t make it. There’s a big difference.

To just say “if a player got a GOAT coach” is unfair because many of these all-time best coaches became great WITH the great players. These coaches and players maturate together, and one thing that isn’t being mentioned is Kobe, MJ, Bird, Magic, Isiah Thomas, Hakeem, and Duncan didn’t move as much as Lebron. That consistency helps.
