Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your story. I love stories of triumph over addiction. My son died from an overdose at 24, almost 7 years ago. I so wanted that triumph for him. I’m now sober from alcohol almost 5 years and know the magic you spoke of. Your yoga is a big part of my recovery. Thank you for being you. Xo

Your story is truly incredible and I felt so connected to you watching this video. I come from many ancestors who have experienced addictions. Yoga has been my rock as I found sobriety also. Beating an addiction is one of the hardest, and most empowering things I’ve ever experienced. Thank you for sharing your story and such beautiful yoga practices.

Beautiful. Not to be dramatic but YOU are one of the people that got me through the pandemic. Stuck working from home thousands of miles between me and my family and close friends. Working from home meant working insane hours at a desk. I was in pain physically from sitting and stressed emotionally from being overworked + the state of the world. I said to myself, maybe I need to begin yoga again for my back. Searched "yoga for back pain" and found all your YOGATX vids. Your direction, clarity, genuineness , HUMOR - dry but I LOVE and compassion ALL spoke to me. To this day you are the only "yogatuber" that I'll fwd to friends and family because I believe you are exceptional at what you do and absolutely genuine in your intentions. The intent I sense behind your teaching is a big one for me, because I borrow that intention of grounding and healing to in turn heal and ground myself. So powerful. You're a gem lady! So glad you made it here. Also, I know I'm not alone in feeling emotional and dare I say teary eyed listening to you. I think of the pain that friends and family have gone through with addiction and in some cases recovery. To be real , many did not make it. The loss and absence of their lives still hurts and is something to behold. If they were fortunate, everything aligned right at the moment they were ready to "click" open and allow a new way of existing - similar to your story. We a grateful for the ones that made it out with their lives.

I'll be 11 years sober in 4 months. There are different reasons why people fall in to the trap of alcohol and drug addiction. It may be tragedy, the misconception that being drunk or high will bring us to a better place. It's an illusion. Now that I am long term sober it doesn't mean that every day is perfect, but I can honestly say that my worst days now are better than my best days in the grip of alcoholism. It took a trip to the hospital while attempting to go cold turkey that made me determined to succeed. That's what it took. Dogged determination and anger at what my life had become.

Thank you so much Cole. I started practicing with you on youtube back when I was still in active addiction almost 8 years ago. I now have 2 years and a couple months of sobriety under my belt, and am so grateful to still get to practice with you. Thank you for honestly sharing your journey, I empathized with so much of what you said. Its a blessing to get to know oneself, I think I only truly started that journey after my one year. I recognize how much of my story is left to unfold and while intimidating, I am excited and hopeful. And on those mornings when I get to start my day with you I witness the power and strength of your perseverance and surrender, and I find myself emulating that energy I know you hold. So I thank you. On another note, I would love to hear your thoughts on AA. why it is you no longer attend, ect... I have some struggles with it myself. I don't see it as a sustainable practice but I do currently attend.

I've been lost and alone for at least half my life. I never got into drugs but have lived with depression and no sense of direction for a long time now. Some of this really resonated with me. Congrats on your 10 year Soberversary! I just celebrated 9 years Oct 19th and my journey has been very tied to yoga. I started watching a Ronald Yee morning yoga sequence (dvd, haha) and did it every morning ending in seated meditation to talk to my HP. Shortly thereafter I discovered yoga on RU-vid and found you on YogaTX. I felt a connection, but it was actually a few years before I heard you mention your addiction and realized why I was drawn to you. Thank you for helping me on my journey! Peace & Namaste 🙏 💜🧘🏼‍♀️

I began yoga with your videos and so suprised to watch that. I had used cannabis for 2 years, it was great at the beginning and horrible after tolerance had developed. I had been in bad situations too but I realized that it is ego which makes me feel ashamed for these bad experiences. After admitting that I am just an human being who will not even be existing on earth after a few decades, and considering life is painful and difficult it is all understandable to try to seek happiness with substances, but not a true way of course. There is nothing to be ashamed for, at the end it is my life and I am not regretful.

Congratulations on your 10 years of happiness and living life fully! Your story is unbelievable and so believable at the same time. I love practicing with you and listening to your words of encouragement throughout your videos. What a beautiful soul. Although I haven’t experienced any addictions, I love hearing your story. It makes me more connected to yoga and wanting to be kinder and more gentle. I started doing yoga every day since March 13, 2020 and haven’t missed one day! I must start my day with yoga! Thank you for all you do. Namaste ❤

Cole. Cole. Cole... whew! Where do I start? I found you on Yoga TX and fell in love with your style of teaching, vibe, and spirit. The more I followed your practice and found out you are on a journey to advocate for those who are in recovery or have an innate desire to recover... you pricked my heart that much more. I remember one day turning off the video because you were addressing addiction. I was pissed 🙄🤧😅 The reason why had nothing to do with you. It was ME! God was beginning to deal with me through You! It was time to face the ugly sides of myself and my addictions on an even deeper level. Yes, I was doing the "work" but it was time to take a deep dive into the parts I was turning a blind eye to. I still kept you close despite having an attitude about my own mess. Thank you for showing Up for yourself and the Collective because I have been doing the work to free myself from my food addiction, alcohol addiction and weed addiction! I love you Sis! I thank God for putting you on my path! It's definitely an inside job! Congrats on 10 years and cheers to a MILLION MORE!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Be well ❤❤❤

Congratulations!!! I love it when younger people get the chance to live thier intended lives. I had 9 then a bad accident and that started the battle with pain pills. Once I knew I was healed Id look in the mirror and think "all that to become a junkie" . And the universe said throw them away!!! O. M. G. Id rather do chemotherapy again. Then the universe said quietly "yoga". I've learned to follow that voice. Today I found you , Gotta love it.

Hey Cole. Thanks so much for this...for your story, for your classes, for it all. I've been clean since 2009 and I relate so much to what you shared. At some point I stopped celebrating and reflecting, and you've reminded me of how much it always meant to me. I've been trying to quit smoking since 2009 - with a year or two year, then six months and so on. And there are times - often times - that I wonder if I will be doing this on and off thing the rest of my life. I don't like that thought. It hurts. At the same time, I am also trying to work with the self acceptance, and the many, many layers that are held in this addiction. At some point you stop wanting to even talk about with anyone, because you're so sick of listening to yourself. But you've given me some extra fuel...some extra hope today. I thank you for that, and so much more. Much love to you. And congratulations!!

Yea it’s important to reflect! Especially if we still hold shame & pain there! We can enter gently & stay for short times but I do believe we don’t truly heal until we bring all parts of our self with us. And always work in progress but worth it!

Hats down for you Cole !! You inspire me in so many ways and addiction is not only to alcohol or drugs.. we have been addicted to so many ideas and toxic people and toxic life patterns that we think for instance that we can’t live without and it is oh so draining and fatale to our souls and bodies.. to work with what remains is the chance that the higher force some times grant you to tell you it is not over yet until you decide it is over.. love you so much and always inspired by your practices 🤍🙏🏻

Seriously though too, you got me through a mega difficult period. Cannot thank you enough. I love you, jk, not. Im not 10 years "perfect" and as we all have a different, scenario, story. Trying to keep it simple - thank you for being you and all of the practices you share. Hope and promises. Best, Desmond
