Closed it out. Extremely proud of everyone here, we worked tirelessly to fix a lot of the general issues found/requested by the community, and more. Glad to be in the credits with everyone; we never went a day without a Max video being played somewhere. Shine on Max, and shine on doods. - Small Part Of The Team (Trev) (Don’t get me in trouble for posting this game industry!)
Thank you and everybody else on the Killer Instinct team for all of there hard work and passion. You guys are the reason why I even want to get into the games industry in the first place.
I still think that free version should have all it's characters unlocked for the practice mode. Give your players a reason to try as much as they can and make the full purchase.
The problem seems to me that people can put the dummy to "player" and just use training as a vs mode. It'd be gheto as shit considering they'd have to go "ok I died" when their health hits 0 and a round doesn't end. But it'd be possible Now, probably that's a risk worth taking anyway, but y'know...
Whilst other Fighting Games are getting a bit too comfortable with micro-transactions Killer Instinct goes “You want those colors? Their yours! Also these ones! AND these stages! All for free.” THATS WHY KILLER INSTINCT IS THE GOAT.
Let's put aside the fact that when this game came out every character was a microtransaction lol. This game is done dude. They are doing this to look for people's attention (new and old), if there was any substancial money left in this game there would be microtransactions 100%. MS didn't became the biggest software company in the world giving things away for free.
@@mariosoriano4650 lmao OF COURSE they want attention! They want people to revisit and play. How else do you get people to play your game? This game is as 'done' as games in Fightcade are 'done', or the guilty gear games on steam are 'done'. Yea, its an old game. Most fighting games are old games. So what? The game had MTX for convenience, not to a detriment. They gave players the CHOICE to pay for the full roster, or pay for any individual characters they wanted (including DLC), or just play the free version (which still included ALL game modes & online) and play the rotating characters + Jago. And you payed with real cash, not wack-ass in-game currency. I WISH more modern fighting games followed this model. The only MTX thats left is grabbing the full game for 10 USD (the game goes on sale very often). Thats pretty micro for a full-featured game, i'll give you that. I dunno man. Do you just want people to not play this game for some reason?
Since the update I invest in at least 1 hour of KI everyday. Because I wanna support my favorite fighting game of all time, and get better. I suck at it right know. Absolutely love to see Maximilian play KI. Brings me back to when I started to watch the Dood.
Phil Spencer are you seeing this? The KI community is alive and well, please consider a sequel or a remake of the first game. If we get a new version for EVO, it would blow up. Hopefully Microsoft sees the vision and potential this fighting series has. I mean you have robots fighting werewolves and zombie girls for crying out loud lol
Killer Instinct has always had a soft spot in my heart. IDK why but I LOVED KI 2 specifically. Played it so much in the arcade. Bought KI Gold for 64 and was disappointed (no FMV's, lots of animation frames removed etc, cartridge space limitations). Then I learned about a stand alone KI2 emulator. Then it got added to MAME. Wish they had brought KI1 and KI2 that are on the Xbox One to PC.
I was setting up a mini PC to be a tournament setup and was loading every fighting game in my Steam library to it. I noticed that KI was in there but I'd never played it. I figured I must've gotten it in a Humble Bundle or something. I got it installed, tried it out, and holy shit this game is so cool! All these years I've been missing out, but at least it seems like I joined at just the right time
I finally got to play this game and i will say that i absolutely love this game!!! It is so much fun to play and props to the devs to keep supporting this amazing game. KILLER INSTINCT truly got much more love and should have more exposure for all to enjoy!!!!
Microsoft isn't going to spend money on a whole new entry when they have enough issues finding success with their own huge IPs like Halo. A new KI isn't going to win a cost-benefit battle when they can port games like SF6, MK, and update KI to give the impression of covering the fighting game casuals as hardcore players aren't going to shift their profit margins against the cost of a new KI game.
@citypipradioFM that's probably why they made that decision, but that's still possibly a mistake. KI would have been a exclusive, and releasing it on launch would have meant releasing just when the hype for previous major fighting game releases had settled but still a while before SF6, MK1 and Tekken 8.
@@emperormegaman3856you realize despite the hype Tekken 8 one of the biggest fighting game releases only did 2 million at launch and no thats not a big number in the games industry and thats Tekken Killer Instinct is no Tekken so no it should have not been a priority for Microsoft to launch with Killer Instinct
@@addex1236 Not a counterpoint to your comment but just a point of precision: Tekken 8 sold 2 millions copies in less than a month, that's very good for a game, and downright excellent numbers for a fighting game (that's faster than SF 6, which is considered "the face of the fighting game genre'), the only FG serie that sometime sell more is Mortal Kombat, which is the serie with mainstream appeal outside of fighting game fans. Games that sell more than that in such a short time like GTA, CoD or Zelda are rares exceptions, and are not in a genre considered semi-niche like fighting games. Now, like i said , that's not a counterpoint to your comment, KI wouldn't sell as much as Tekken, you're right. And that's the point. that's exactly why the Serie X/S launch in late 2020 would have been the good time to bring it back. From a console launch perspective, that make one more solid game to add to the lineup. Don't get me wrong, it's not gonna be the big Halo-like console-seller, but it would have been a nice addition "we also have this neat exclusive fighting game", and from a brand-management perspective, KI could have benefited from the console launch exposure. People who don't follow FG news would have heard of it by checking the launch lineup, and it could have benefited from the relative lack of games available on a console early days to be more noticeable. Not only that, but there wasn't a huge fighting game release in 2020. KoF XV, SF6 and T8 where still a couple years away. Even Guilty Gear Strive would'nt drop until mid 2021. They could have released KI at this point and avoid having to compete with the heavy hitters for the attention of the playerbase. (not to mention, the lockdowns meant that a game with good rollback at this moment would have received a warm welcome, see what happened when strive launched in 2021). But no, Microsoft didn't do that, they don't care to build or the brands they have. It's not a priority for them.
Was a KI fan from SNES. Decades later started using PS systems and then get told KI will be only on XBOX. I understand there are monetary incentives to do this but that really solidified my exclusion for my future with this game.
That was the case for me too, but I got a $1k gaming PC in 2021 (cheaper now) instead of a PS5 and now at long last, I'm playing this game again! The SNES nostalgia coming back hard!
Wore my thumbs out once I upgraded to a XB1 and downloaded this. Simple to learn but hard to master. Glad to see they’re still supporting it after all these years.
I have watched Max play this game so much and I still understand almost nothing that happens on that screen woth all the breakers and lockouts and stuff, lol.
What could be interesting is since Microsoft is putting more games on Playstation, if they released Killer Instinct on PS5 of course with cross play it could bring in a bunch of new players and potentially breathe new life into the game. I know I would buy it day 1.
@HAGZ0483 haha I wish. It's certainly easier than it used to be but there's a lot more to be done aside from porting the engine over. There are data/ matchmaking servers (cross-platform or otherwise), bug testing and additional support that would need to be done afterward.
Absolutely LOVE this. Going back and adding all of this content to a ten year old game that hasn’t seen a content update in what… Six years?? This is amazing, and the fact that all of this stuff is free is so freaking cool. Already got my Eagle and my Eyedol up to 65. I absolutely want a sequel and I’m really hoping Xbox gets back with Iron Galaxy to do one. As niche as fighting games can be, it would be insane to keep a game that grew from an XBox Live Arcade game with six characters into one of the best games ever made in a decades old genre on the shelf any longer. People know how great this game is regardless of whether the anniversary content pulls them in. If they build a sequel, people will play it.
“Game looks fun, right chat?” Lol, yes, game looks fun. Glad to see Killer Instinct still getting love from developers, it’s such a great game and I hope that this leads to another one in the future, it deserves it.
This is one of the most underrated fighting games that ever existed. Truly a masterpiece, even for the soundtrack alone. We need a new KI. The world just needs it.
I'm glad I still have the Definitive Edition for the Xbox one s and I still love this game. I still have the gold version for the 64 too. The killer instinct series will always be a classic franchise.
Love ki 3 so much. I was one match away from getting killler rank in ranked but I always ended up stressing and losing. Would absolutely love a ki4 with better graphics and new characters. That's all it would take for me to buy
I love some KI but why did they get rid of fatalities? Ultimates, ultras, and knockoffs are more like a finisher to me than an actual fatality like the ones they had in the first 2 games
Oh hell yeah man I've been wanting to play this game again for a hot minute I had no clue it was available in steam your right I belive if killer instinct had more adverts we'd have a new one already it's a top tier fighter imo and should never be forgotten
Ngl, thinking of getting into KI. I ain't great at it, it's hard as hell, but after getting burnt on MK1 and hearing the problems of T8 post-reviews sounds like I should just invest in the tried and true KI.
Honestly if you're new to tekken you won't feel the issues so much but they are there. I'd say get into tekken after the big may patch or if it goes on sale. I want to try KI as well but I'm worried about it just not having a player base left outside of north America.
What M$ need to do is to port the game to PS4/PS5 like they are doing to some of their "smaller" games and see if there's enough sales... Then a decision about a sequel would be more easy to take (or not if people don't buy the game)...
i think the only thing that is gonna generate more interest in KI is releasing the original games on PC... preferably on steam. this game is so great, but KI1 is my favorite FG of all time.
Also I wonder if anyone has the bug with Jago that plays a very high pitch frequency that was so annoying to hear and found out its linked to the toys and it was a frequency to make the statue react. I hope they fixed it
I just started playing killer instinct this month. Currently using old intel laptop with 144p resolution all low settings to get 60fps 😂 I pray we got new game soon, and I have new pc when the game comes out.
I remember trying KI way back when mk10 was about to release and I was ass at it. I couldn’t understand anything because I had never gotten into fighting games before. But after all this time I’ve gotten really good at SF6 and tekken 8. Now I’m going back to play this again. I won’t let this game defeat me lmao.
If you are new to KI, I would also highly recommend trying out Shadow Lords. The game is roguelite single player and adds power-ups and various items, which helps you get a feel of how the game works in a casual setting while still having fun and trying out the whole roster. Really cool way to introduce basic mechanics while going crazy and having a ton of fun.
Awesome stuff Max. What am incredible Update for KI, sad it's gonna be the last Update but all of it for Free is amazing stuff. I really do need too get going n Play KI properly, the Offline Modes are looking really good. This is one of those Fighting Games I wished was a Multiplat Title, cuz it needs more people too check it out.
have you ever played Killer Instinct for the original Gameboy? I'd love top see a review or rate the super, I'm looking though all your KI videos and haven't seen mention of it yet, it's actually really good.
See, there's already people on PS willing to get this game. I wouldn't know the kind of numbers MS would see on PS, but word of mouth from members of the community like you would lead to even more people getting the game.
