Ortiz makes reference to this video in his lecture - and he talks about how he had an option for every card in the deck and how he just got lucky when filming.
@ebeatworld about the "Expert force" I mentioned, my mistake: the author of that "force" was not Ed Marlo, but Eddie Fields, Chicago, 1967. You'll find a complete description of it, in "Kabbala" magazine, published between 71 andt 72. Shortly put, It's done by placing the card to be forced on the bottom of the deck and then, by one-handed cutting the deck during you talk to a spectator, directly looking in his eyes...pretty difficult to do, I think...I never tried!!! :-)))
@ebeatworld Of course, no one would take a risk of that kind, and no magician would use this as the "only method" to do the trick!!! But I think Darwin just did it...in case it works, and it DID work! But obviously, since we talk about one of the sfillfullest manipulators in the world, I'm certain he is ready for any choice of any card! ;-)
*sigh* it's not a subliminal force (high percentage ones do exist - see Derren Brown's Pure Effect for two examples). The method involves a stacked deck and allows the spectator a completely free choice of any of the 50 remaining cards. It's in Scams and Fantasies - buy the book and find out.
@ebeatworld Sorry, I have to disagree: look very carefully to the beginning of the trick, when he says "never play cards with strangers" . In the middle of this phrase, he's cutting de deck, bringing the 4 of clubs right to the bottom of the deck. So the lady unconciuosly sees this card. It's like subliminal images. You'll find a description of this in an Edward Marlo'smehthod called "an expert force". Published in the 50's, as far as I remember ;-)
