The Last of Us Part 2 - The Final Battle Between the WLF and the Seraphites

The fact that those faction war happened goes against the argument that Joel and Tommy "let their guard down" in front of strangers even after living in Jackson, still under threats of fungus zombies, bandits and looters

Ernas 343 they definitely missed something in Joel’s story where it explains why he let his guard down with Abby. I would have liked it showing that Abby and Joel spent more time together before she killed him, maybe even making Abby contemplate her decision even more. Maybe Joel makes a comment about how Abby reminds him of Ellie (he would refer to her as his daughter) and/or Tommy maybe saying Maria was pregnant (Druckermann had a thing for pregnant ladies XD). By the time she gets them to her team, she chooses to commit. It would have also been good to show that Abby was struggling more with the guilt of what she did. The structure of how the story was told was what let it down. If we had Abby’s story first and was told it was her game, it would have made the audience maybe sympathise with her more. But the writers choosing to introduce Abby as Joel’s killer from the word go limits are ability to relate to Abby.

it's not the middle of a zomble apocalypse, it's been 24 yrs since the outbreak. People have constructed walls and villages, develop the system in their settlement, like WLF are able to get Salmons, Seraphites are able to produce lumbers, Jackson got blacksmiths, butchers, and electricity from their hydroelectric power plant, and all of them have develop a system to farm and produce food for their people. Of course they are more lucky than so many people in that world, like hunters in Tlou1 don't have such things to sustain themselves, without certain amount of travelers pass through and become their prey, they will have serious problem on their survival and thus break their unity.(It can be happened as more people find safe places and get warned by other survivors) and yes, after all these years, some people still love, or have to be a traveler, or collectors, but don't forget, even a paranoid like Bill needs to cooperate with others(like Tess and Joel) to survive, I guess he wouldn't last long if he couldn't find someone else to do Tess's job. Ya, people still got conflicts, and cooperation in this "new world".

Bear in mind that most of it was his own fault. If he had listened to his sister about going home, he wouldn’t have gotten Yara killed and he wouldn’t have had to kill his mom.

Right! This segment was where I really grew on Abby.

Well to me it is one of her redeeming qualities, i just replay the game so therfore i could analyse it because first time playing it made me upset especially the characters like the new and old, thats why second time playing it made me realize it is not really a bad game but a really dark story that it was meant to be debated and analyse because first time playing will made you divisive.

I loved The Descent too. Best use of the infected ND has done in either game and the design of the whole building is pretty awesome. I couldn't believe how much of it they actually designed.

Thats one thing that kinda sucked. Through the descent and the island chapter I started to really grow on Abby and started to forget about how she killed Joel. THEN the game had me play as her to kill Jessie, shoot Tommy, and bash both Ellie and Dina's face in. I get perspective, but making me wanted to just stop playing the game for making me hurt and kill people I care about (and in the case of Joel and Ellie, a WHOLE game to get attached to) was not a smart move writing wise.

Maybe but the WLF completely failed at their objective, which was to wipe out the Seraphites entirely, and they arguably lost even more. Their entire invasion force was wiped out which had to have numbered over a thousand since Isaac said he was bringing in almost everyone. Most of what the seraphites lost, aside from manpower, will probably be replaced since they make stuff themselves. Everything the WLF uses is from the old world.

Turns out Issac was pretty stupid. There’s a video that dives in depth to the war plan, and apparently, he sent EVERYONE to the island in a huge assault.

Yeah but then she wears Owen’s backpack which was a nice detail 🙂

In the next chapter you can overhear on a radio that the three teams the WLF sent was Alpha, Bravo, and Echo, alpha and bravo was wiped out and the Echo was being overrun by the Scars while on the radio. Seems like both sides lost more then they gain in the war.

Agreed, the village setting along with the horses just made this whole scene feel so “medieval”. The only difference between this war here and an old-fashioned dark age war is the use of guns lol. One of the most metal gameplay segments in the series.

There is a radio conversation when Abby arrives at the theater that sort of implies that the WLF is eventually defeated. But I'm guessing it's a pyrrhic victory for the Seraphites.

Scars had to have won. They just seemed more versatile in combat.

Delecive They didn’t know, there’s even a segment where some of the Seraphites tell Lev he brought the wolfs to them (essentially thinking this was orchestrated by Lev). They were pretty prepared though since they knew this’ll happen eventually, another thing to back this up is the strung up WLF bodies on the Seraphite island

The same way how Abby's inight terrors werent solved by killing joel. This is literally shown to us in the game, what eventually does solve the issue is not revenge, but acceptance and helping others.

It’s pretty realistic to me since people would have an excuse to go ape shit on each other. Also depending on the people in your group would affect your survival chances and the amount of resources you have as a whole. Don’t forget trust issues, mindsets on the situation, and way of life as well.

As fas as i know that woman sheltered a lot of people with enough food to survive for 6 months. Before they ran out of food, FEDRA found her and her people and considered a miracle they actually survived that long. Because of her, the Seraphites cult was created.

Yes, she betrayed the WLF for helping two seraphites who saved her from being disemboweled and hung

Yes, she's protecting Scars - their enemies. Which is a huge NO, in their books. Danny threatened to kill Owen when Owen refused to kill that Scar. Isaac was going to shoot Abby for not getting out of the way of him shooting Lev (despite the fact that he seemed to hold Abby in high regard). So yeah, if you are a Wolf and you try to spare or help Scars, that's seen as a betrayal to the WLF. Plus, she also went against Isaac's command when she went looking for Owen when Isaac had told her not to go, to stay and prep her team for war.

the cultists lost at least half their army while the WLF lost much less, and the cultists lost their largest city, while the WIF does not control the island, i think the cultists will likely have to withdraw all their fighters who are occupying the mainland back to the island, leaving the WLF with a period of not being ambushed all the time and hanged and gutted

I'm just gonna assume both sides were utterly destroyed.

We can infer that the Seraphites won and they drove the WLF off the island. In the theatre, you can hear on the radio some WLF soldiers talking to each other. One is panicking and saying it's a complete massacre. Their leader, Isaac, also died within the first 20 minutes of the attack. This makes it more likely for the Seraphites to fight the WLF off.

Probably the scars since the wolf’s leader is dead and later when you hear dina’s radio in the theater you can hear wolfs panicking about how much of a disaster the attack was

The Scars probably won. The Wolf leader was killed and the Scars were fighting in their own territory. Besides, when you reach the theater where Ellie was hiding, in the radio you can hear a wolf requesting for backup because they were losing the battle.

I would say the Wolves won because they have control on Seattle, far better soldiers, and fire power. Moreover, the fact they attacked the island of the SCARS, they destroyed everything the SCARS have. You destroy their resources, people, and area; mission accomplished. Also, the Wolves only sent a small portion of their soldiers to the island, they had several areas in Seattle they controlled which showed a large portion of soldiers. With Issac dead though I wonder who was in charge after this battle.

@@DefiUnraveled The Wolves were loosing the war up til this point. The wolves have a big problem with low morale and desertion. The wolves also did not send a "small portion" of their soldiers to the island they gathered up everything they had for this attack. Also with Isaac dead and with the radio you hear in the theater where the wolves are panicking over the failure of the attack its a pretty safe bet to say the scars won this conflict.
