God I miss him. It feels like someone in my own life has died. When Joel said “you have no idea what loss is” I think he knew deep down Ellie would lose him, before he got the chance to lose her.
Me too, I think that’s why I connected so with his character. I’ve never felt love for a fictional character until Joel came along. The lessons that Part 2 teaches about loss and vengeance are very important, I wouldn’t have had this story any other way
@@bema18211 Well Joel was a selfish scumbag for like more than 20 years later after loosing his daughter the night of the outbreak so I hope your dad didn’t torture and killed a lotta innocents people with a group of hunters and everything.
Wait I thought all TLOU2 fans hated good male figures in their life 🤔. At least that was the argument I was hearing when the game came out. Black people are finally able to enjoy it and understand this game.
I literally bought an acoustic guitar and enrolled on a learn to play guitar Udemy course solely inspired by this scene. My aim is to complete this song in the finger picking style that Joel is playing...damn it, Ellie, why did you interrupt him! The scene is subtly magnificent in every way from the movement of Joel's head as he plays the chords, the camera angle, the flies around the porchlight...I mean the attention to detail is astonishing...not to mention the soul oozing out of every moment and corner. It's a month since I started my guitar course and boy, playing guitar is quite hard for me as my fingers hurt when pressing the strings on the fret but I understand that the fingers will grow a tough layer as I keep practising...slow progress but I am determined! Best version thank you. He deserved a better send off. Yeah he wasn’t real but this game allowed me to escape reality. Watching and playing the connection between him and Ellie made me realize and learn a lot . This guitar solo embodied Joel’s character in every way.
If you say he deserved a better send off you did NOT understand The Last of Us at all. There is no “send off” with characters like these, no audience to please just like how the first game was written. He died the way he was supposed to, just simply not a matter of deserving or not, or requiring a “send off”.
@@Alex-Hosseinifar95 She did in the end though. It was symbolised by her leaving behind the guitar after playing his song at the end. Ellie hated Abby because she took away her chance at forgiving Joel.
@@whisp_ I remember that part in the game I played the whole game but her body gestures when she look at the guitar she had a grim look on her face. My assumption was she was still had grudges. But ok thanks for the clearing things up for me
@@Alex-Hosseinifar95 It's never explicitly shown what anything at the end means though. All we know is that Ellie probably realized revenge wouldn't have satisfied her or given her closure. Her expressions thinking back could be anything. She could just be sad and frustrated about everything that happened while also having forgiven both Abby and Joel. Not to mention, the last scene when she leaves, we don't know whether or not she's planning to come back. On the flipside, she could also be going somewhere else and leaving Jackson altogether. We'll just have to wait to see if there's a Part III.

She want to take revenge over all Ellie mostly killed all of Abby friends I didn’t like Owen and Mel. They were weird characters. But Abby was caring for the little kid. Joel was Ellie Fatherly figure but I hope not the kill his brother to early in the next game. Tommy is a badass I like Tommy. I want to know more about Jesse he was killed to early in the game! He was an interesting character in the game. I want to know what happened to Dina
I do believe that one if the biggest motivations for Ellie’s revenge was that she was never able to forgive Joel, she said she would try but had the chance stolen from her the very next day. Such a beautiful game.
I realized the significance of the song, with regards to the game's plot, a few days ago. It had been in the Classic Acoustic playlist on Spotify for a long time and I kept thinking I had heart it somewhere before it. I was rewatching that ending scene when it all hit me. And I almost cried. You'd think this song was written about Joel and Ellie if you read the lyrics.

I played this game twice so far. The second time was definitely harder because I knew everything thar was about to happen, the sad and the scary moments, the tough battles; and then, this moment. A reward, after all we went though. A perfect dialogue with perfect music. The piece of jigsaw gone missing, given at the right time. That's how i felt about it, still i can't describe it.
I am soooooo glad I found your video. I've loved this tune since I played the game through and I had assumed it was just Joel strumming. Learning here it was part of a song and that you've looped it this way is extremely gratifying. Thank you

I feel like the ending should’ve been that Ellie kills Abby; but she becomes the monsters that she fights against. Because I think of that song that Ellie sang: “If I ever lose you, I would lose myself”. The death of Joel made her become a ruthless killer that she is treated like an urban legend throughout the years
Unpopular opinion but killing Joe the way they did was the stupidest thing Neil could've done. The heart and soul of this game and now show is the father/adoptive daughter relationship between Joe and Ellie, NOT Ellie and Dina. Neil says he could give two Fucks if fans love it or not (not caring that Fans are the ones who make it or break it). If they kill Joe right off at the beginning or end of the S2 of the show a LOT of ppl will jump ship.
Im a Musician, i can say that every compose you compose is wrong. It should be sequence each notes to play and perfect combination. But first try to listen the original song "Helpessly Hoping" and you'll know the sequence of the play. 👍
