The Last Of Us S1E6 "Kin" // Reaction & Review 

Pedro definitely deserves all the awards for his acting alone in this episode lol.

Absolutely loved that older couple in the cabin. Great stuff.

This episode was great and Pedro’s acting as Joel in this episode was just wow. You feel his pain and sadness of not wanting to lose Ellie like how he lost his daughter Sarah. Also loved seeing Tommy again and Joel and Ellie’s argument was phenomenally acted by Pedro and Bella. The argument scene between them is literally one of the best scenes in the first game. Overall, great reaction guys!

They are in Wyoming and yes sometimes when the Northern Lights are hitting the edge of their belt you can see them in the northern parts of Washington, Idaho, Montana, The Dakotas, Minnesota, and Wyoming as long as your far enough from town to avoid light pollution.

Fun Fact: In the official podcast for the show it was revealed that Show Runner Craig Mazin’s own daughter actually sang that song at the end of the episode. Also If Pedro Pascal is not nominated for best actor at every awards show this year THEN NO ONE DESERVES TO BE NOMINATED!!!! This was perhaps my most anticipated episode of the season and somehow it’s BETTER THAN THE GAME! Jackson looks beautiful and Gabriel Luna is as perfectly cast as Tommy as Pedro is for Joel. But what really got me were scenes of Joel clutching his heart from panic attacks and looking up to see a young woman who almost looks like Sarah, and when he was telling Tommy the truth that he believed that he was going to fail Ellie and get her killed. When Joel was getting teary eyed I cried at that scene, but when we got to my absolute favorite dramatic scene in the game when Joel and Ellie are talking about loss I lost it. That was my most anticipated scene of the entire series and not only did it live up to the hype, it exceeded it. And just like the game it broke me.😭😭😭😭

Pedro was incredible in this…the vulnerability he displays in the tommy scene makes it even more heartbreaking what happens at the end. I also really felt pedro when he said ‘u dont know what loss is’…..if u dont know, pedro lost his mom when he was about 24. I think this resonates with him personally.

This show breaks my heart every episode and I'm allowing it 🤣... This episode was amazing for the development of Joel and Ellie, they are becoming a little family and I just wish they ended up being ok in the end but this show always find ways to hurt me.

They will get through the first game this season. The way the show is paced is incredible. Every week I think “there is no way they are gonna be able to fit this storyline into this episode” and they somehow always pull it off

Great great episode. Like every episode so far. There is a reason why Henry is shown again at the beginning. That was for the fans, because that's exactly how the cut had been made in the game. One shot, then long Black screen, then time jump and dam. The reason why Joel doesn't teach Ellie much and let her do it things is that she wouldn't be cargo anymore. Such things create a mutual connection that Joel did not want until then. He doesn't want to give her the option to take care of him. Just like Sarah did back then. I mean she did the housekeeping, made sure he wore his shirt the right way around ect. Fortunately, after the dispute between the two, everything changed. That the dog notices infections is nothing new. Merci the neighbor dog already did that in episode 1. That being said, dogs also find cancer and other diseases in the body. The dog here has noticed that something is wrong with Ellie, but he has also noticed that there is no danger from her. Something Fedra's detectors can't detect. They only know black (red) and white (green), just like Fedra is. And of course, Ellie is infected, otherwise the detector would not have shown red. Immunity does not mean that you are not infected, that you do not carry the fungus. Imagine how many potential immune have already been killed by the scanner because no dog has checked them. A combination of scanner and dog would probably be ideal. Because of Joel's injury. I think that's done far more realistically here than in the game. You need extreme self-control to leave something stuck in your body that you do not want to have there and does not belong there. The head must remain clear and you must be aware of what is happening to you. In addition, it would probably not be possible for Joel to get on the horse with the stick or even to ride at all. Maria to Ellie: "Be careful who you put your faith in. The only people who can betray us are the one we trust." Probably the most important sentence of this episode if not of the whole series. And she certainly doesn't say the sentence to Ellie to prepare us viewers for Tommy to betray someone. This is nonsense. The sentence was for Ellie, so this one will also affect her directly. Joel to Ellie: "Dream of sheep ranches on the moon." This sentence says so much. Joel already connects Ellie's dreams with his. But he does not see this so clearly at the time and still tries to prevent the inevitable. And Joel already indirectly refers to her as a family later at the dinner table, if he wants to send Maria away, but Ellie is allowed to stay. Ellie drank from Joel's liquor and it was "STILL gross". That was a callback to the DLC "Left Behind" Elli's flashback episode. Next episode Ashley Johnson (Game Ellie) will properly get an appearance in the Ellie Flashback. This episode was a feast for everyone who played Part 2. we met Dina (Ellie yelled at her as she dined), properly Jessie (cinema), Shimmer, Bison Bar, sheeps, kids playing snowball, Astronauts, Jackson see from the inside. Simply fantastic. The campfire scene was not in the game, but was originally supposed to be included. So far, only a concept art was left in the bonus material of the game. I think the scene would have been important in the game because it underlines once again that both Marlene and Joel are absolutly sure that it is possible to produce a cure. Druckman said he can now finally show more through the series than was possible in the game.

Watch out for Tommy - he’s a Commy!!

There’s actually not much left💀 the second half is very gameplay heavy but there’s only like 2 story beats left so the whole first game will be in this season

I imagine when Joel talks to Tommy about his dreams that it's most likely memories of Sarah that he relives; and in a world such as theirs even good dreams have become nightmares for Joel because when he wakes he's instantly reminded that Sarah isn't there and why, which speaks to his line " all I know is when I wake up... I've lost something." Imagine being afraid of going to sleep because you might see your loved ones only to robbed of them again when you wake. Life truly did stop for Joel about the same time his wrist watch stopped.😔

“Dream of sheep ranches on the moon “ I find this line to be really deep and the message it conveys is really powerful. When Ellie asked Joel what would they do after the fireflies found a cure, Joel responded: Oh, it's a "we"? This pretty much says a lot about Joel 'not wanting' to be with Ellie after a cure is found. Joel wants to spend the rest of his life on a sheep ranch, whereas Ellie wants to be an astronaut; two totally different paths. When Ellie went to sleep Joel said "Dream of sheep ranches on the moon", which means that he actually wants their paths to cross! As much as he denies it, he now sees Ellie as part of his life, kind of a daughter. It shows the duality of Joel; on one side he is cold and says that Ellie is just cargo, but on the other side, his heart sees Ellie as his daughter.

I visited the town that Tommy lives in... kind of. The real town of Jackson Hole is a tourist town now so they couldnt really film in the actual town... but ive been to the real Jackson Hole that this town is supposed to be. My sister lived there. Its a really weird town. Every sunday they local bar does this big shoot out thing where a random shoot out starts in the bar then spills put into the town center. Its a show they put on every sunday. It was odd.

When Joel thinks he sees his daughter Sara - she would have been older with a child of her own like he saw - killed me 💔

If the current episode is in the winter of 2023, the the show has moved forward in time past our reality. So now Joel and Ellie are in the future 😂

Ok remember they have no car it took them 3 months to get to Wyoming because they had to WALK they walked over 2000 miles on foot

Joel will be fine, as long as he has alcohol and cloth he can wrap a bandage around his arm and be fully healed!

I wonder who said that there was much left lol when it comes to story, the game is very front loaded. and there really isn't that much left.

I really despise those wise words "the people that betray us are the ones we trust" not because they are to true (although is logic too, how a person that you hardly know to trust enough, betray you? Can be a jack a... , but cant call that a betrayal) Anyway, I despise that kind of people, because they think their wise words don't apply to them. Tommy betrayed his brother, someone could send him a message from another place. What makes her think that something like that can't happen to her, or that she won't see herself obligated ever to act like Joel. Henry didn't kill anybody but he didn't judge either, he understood the things that one has to do in the real world, not in Maria's happy place.

Oh, if you thought Joel's injury here was bad... it's a lot more 😟 in the game

I loved that Native American couple at the beginning of the episode. They were terrific. I have never played it but I started watching a very old Let's Play of the game and Joel's signature fighting style is to sneak up from behind and strangle enemies. So when they were escaping the old campus and that guy attacked Joel with a baseball bat, Joel ended up turning the guy around and getting behind and breaking his neck, just like in the game. It really looked like that attack move but with live action.

I wish joel had brought the horse inside…then they could have waited out the raiders.

It is nice but I am getting sad that Joel is not a one man army anymore...I get it tv is a different medium compared to video games but still wish Joel woild kick ass coz it might umdermine the season finale.
