This is the most underrated Car Project on You Tube. As a engineer, Tesla M3 owner and car guy I love the series. Best regards from Stuttgart, Germany.
@@nunovicente34u obviously never drove a model 3, I’m absolutely a car guy, I’ve owned M3, ISF, supercharged GT86 and others, and I would still pick the Performance Model 3, ya it doesn’t have a fart cannon but it’s the most fun u can get behind the wheel especially when considering the price range, so pull your head out of your ass before u say that Teslas are not for car guys
The algorithms are seriously off! How come this was not suggested to me earlier! Someone wrote underrated, I totally agree! Beautiful work, instant follow! Greetings from Sweden
Love this build! Suggestion for cutting the windows. Water jet is too aggressive. Consider an Industrial diamond mounted on the tip of a spring plunger (picture an automatic center punch with a diamond tip), mounted in a 3 axis CNC, tracing the cut line repeatedly, moving downin the Z axis .001 inches per pass. 1/4" glass will take 250 passes to cut. Support the window underneath by placing it on clay or something similar.
Wow I can't believe I never knew of this project. Nice work! Thanks to Donut Media. As for glass, You can get custom made automotive grade glass for about 4K, I can connect you to a company I've gotten quotes for 13 piece set ( includes windscreen) that came to $13K.. and after that each set is cheaper, about 7K ( so you can have spares).
Have you considered for the final product to contact a fiberglass parts manufacturer to make thousand of "body kits" and sell them to Tesla owners. It does look fantastic. There is a lot of potential in your amazing work.
This is insane! Can't wait to see this beauty completed! Congrats on the perseverance man!!! As for the glass, some companies make custom car glass, such as Curved Glass Creations, Auto City Classic, and some others. Maybe this could be an option?
it's starts with the hood then you'll need a big wing. Also you take away from the frunk and people love their frunk. you could place a lab coat and some ski glasses in a frunk and it will win out to that hood vent . At least finish it with both hoods so you have options
Dude!!! I know ppl have cut glass with a sand blaster. Bc glass is sand. The sand blasting process slowly takes away the glass and leaves a "finished" edge at the cut service. If you wanna dig into this further I don't blame you but bro. The water jet trials are appearing to be too violent on the glass. Btw the way I've see it done is the masking they use is the same making mat that grave yard headstone ppl use. Like I said look into it bro. But it's an option that you haven't tried. I know buy that glass has to suck just to see it break everytime. But at least we're all learning ways not to cut tesla glass lol. Keep up the good work tho bro. Cars looking so good!
Hey man , maybe you need to give up on those glass give it another approach maybe you can find a non tempered glass with the same curvature and take it to the water cutter again to cut it as the tesla shape...
Me encanta como esta quedando el proyecto. Solo a gusto mio el capot no siento que quede bien con el auto. Como estaba anteriormente me gustaba más. . Saludos desde Argentina.
Have you tried a glass wet grinder, very slow process to get that much shape but you need it slow to prevent the glass breaking. Also love the style of everything you are doing, Another option is cast perspex think of headlights on cars plastic buut as good as glass and very scratch resistant
Is the glass lamination glass either side with plastic sandwiched in the middle? If it is you could try cutting both sides with a normally cutter( you'd have to make a jig so both cuts are the same on both sides try and move it a little so that the glass breaks but don't try and break the plastic, do the same on the otherside so it moves a little across the cut area then pour alcohol across the cut and set it on fire to melt the plastic centre layer? I've seen this done on flat glass so worth a try on one of them.spare bits of glass ypu have.
This project is awesome ❤❤❤ saw you on donut. Heck yea brother ❤❤❤. Btw I like the stock hood better. How does the aftermarket one drain water or does that turn into a swimming pool for babies if your cars outside when it rains? Why’s it so deep ?
I think if the window was laying in a water bath i woud work, I saw a guy on YT cutting and shaping glass with handscissors, but only worked submerged in water
There is a video on youtube of a guy cutting glass for a chop. He uses relief cuts in the corners to reduce stress on the rest of the glass to reduce cracking.
Not sure about the hood, but worst case scenario, you go back to the old one right? Definitely agree that it, at the very least, needs those body line adjustments.
This upload was an early Christmas present... I love this build number 1 on RU-vid right now. If I'm wrong tell me which is better in the comments (because I must not know)
Cyber_hooligan try to hand cut the glass use a glass cutting tool to hand cut the glass and then send it down to make the perfect fitment for the window
Amazing work overall but I prefer the smooth hood, new one ruins the flow of the car for me. I generally hate that type of hood on most vehicles anyway so could be just me.
Yeah thats probably just you... i love that kind of hood on performance cars, as it reduces drag and helps with cooling and downforce and really is beneficial for performance. You could even route brake cooling from the Vent which would make it even better
Why are you not using a glass cutter person what I asked you squirt where they actually scorched the glass and then put a little bit of heat on it and then it breaks in the right way size a machine it's gonna screw it up
I can’t believe how many times I’ve messaged you on Instagram about how to cut your windows the correct way and save you money Clearly this content creator isn’t one to read the message
