We were at a resort in Jamaica and a wedding party showed up to have their fun. Everyone rolled their eyes "uh here we go, let the disaster begin" next thing Captain Tractor starts and their party hits the "hos" and "heys" perfectly. There wasn't a single person at our resort that didn't love that group after that. Perfectly Canadian. Loved it.
@@titotitotito there are so many problems with what you just said, most glaringly is that attacking BC would be an attack of Canada, which has a very capable military, most of which would stay loyal to Ottawa. Then the international community would place sanctions and tariffs on Alberta/Saskatchewan goods. And then there's NATO which would lead to military support for Canada from the US and other member states.
This was my Dad's favourite song he was a truck driver that frequently drove over the Saskatchewan river when he did him and my mum would look for the jolly Rodger. When they emigrated from the UK they lived in Regina and then moved to Windsor he also use to dress up as a pirate on the Disney cruises always evokes happy memories of my dad when I listen to this all the way over in the UK X X
My family moved from England to Regina in 1977 and we have unfortunately been here ever since but I do have local pride. I do love my birth place but I much prefer Vancouver. That's really where my heart belongs. But this song was always played school, especially at dances.
Not necessarily MLP itself but a creator among the community who did an animation for the song: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3pY0gZRb8kE.html If you don't mind the look of the characters I recommend watching it.
I had this played at my Sask wedding this summer. My husband didn't understand until it came on and suddenly everyone who had been avoiding the dance floor all night swarmed to it, swinging each other arm in arm.
I'm an old fart who remembers this song when it first came out. It was a joy last week to get the kids at work to listen to this. They loved it and there has been a wee bit of "hey, ho" going around the shop lately. Maybe a few "arrrs". too. Brilliant sillyness will never go out of style. And it was great to see the kids having fun being kids.
Saskatchewanians rock! Canada rocks! this is the best version of this song!! Lovin it!! Anyone who says we're a bunch of hillbillies is wrong... WE ARE PIRATES!!
Streaming services are already being pirated more so now than ever and every riot/mostly peaceful protest has some looting involved. Maybe some of the looters are making eBay bank?
I'm from Michigan, but have good friends in Toronto and have been to BC quite a bit. I have to say, the more I know about Canada the funnier the Arrogant Worms get. And this cover version is great -- really catchy. I can't stop listening to it, even though I'm supposed to be analyzing Wagner right now! :-D
My parents lived in Regina and them moved to Windsor and Dad was a lorry driver every time he drove over river he and mum would look for your pirates while singing things (he was a total crackpot) sadly dad passed suddenly at 62, 3 years ago everything I hear it it makes me remember my crazy old dad
I'm a Tractor Head from the beginning... Best band ever :P They still play live from time to time...Check them out if you can. Mostly in Alberta, but they just came out to Toronto for North by Northeast this June...so you never know. Glad to see all the videos are up on RU-vid... Viva la Interweb!
The term "Epic Win" comes up short in describing this! On a scale of 1-10, ten being the highest, this is KICKASS! Fav. Vid, five stars! I've heard the song and loved it, but this time it made me laugh all over again! Great stuff!
I saw Captain Tractor at the First Night Festival for the end of the millennium party. -35C out and these guys didn't wince or balk at the cold. They had a crowd of hundreds/thousands cheering and dancing in several layers of clothing, especially for this song. Great band!
Just wanted to mention, this song was originally by a Canadian comedy band called The Arrogant Worms. They’re hilarious, and check out their orchestral version. Also, this version kicks ass.
There is an orchestral version by the Arrogant worms form a concert in Edmonton in 2002 that sounds amazing. Musically this one is probably better than the original Arrogant Worms version, but the orchestral version blows this one away. They even comment afterwards "Let Captain Tractor Cover this one!"
"Okay, Mabel, what does your daddy do?" "Actually, he's a despesrate, bloodthirsty riverine pirate, Miss Keen! I've been raised on the *Black Mussel* for the past five years!" ((Silence)) "Okay, it could be worse...!"
:) YAY!!! i love this song. Born in Saskatchewan but raised in Ontario. :/ i still have Saskatchewan in me and i consider it more of a home to me then Ontario is...
The Saskatchewan is a river as well as a province. The North Saskatchewan goes through Edmonton. PLUS the ship in WEM is like the only ship of that kind anywhere in Western Canada so kinda need to use it
Oddly enough Minecraft of all things brought me here. It’s a long story but basically me and my friends were making countries in Minecraft and one of my friends wanted this to be his national anthem
