Apparently Tangmere hauled the WCME from Manchester! So the visit into Steamtown was not just for water but also an attempt, I suspect, to fix its malaise. Then it was to come off at Carlisle and be replaced by a 47 which didn't turn up but went instead to Hellifield to relieve Tangmere. The LSL stock has been in their new depot for a month or more now. Spotted you in the car park!
If I 'm using the drone I don't get to spend much time in the station but - who knows - if it's a windy day next time we might manage a chat. Best wishes till then.
Thanks David. I read somewhere that thesignalman was disciplined for not following the laid down procedure and sending the runaway wagons into the station.
Everyone's entitled to his/her own opinion but I don't want furious and abusive arguments springing up about nationalisation/privatisation or similar topics on this channel. There are plenty of other sites for people to air their views. Best wishes.
Arrival at Carnforth was on time and departure was scheduled for an hour later. However, the loco had to be disconnected and moved to the shed yard for coal and water and then returned to the train - all in one hour. Was that possible, maybe not and that accounted for its late departure from Carnforth and late arrival in Carlisle ?
You may be right although I've heard stories about steam pressure problems. I had assumed that the train would be diesel hauled from Manchester to Carnforth but I see that Tangmere provided traction throughout. No doubt someone will eventually give us the definitive answer. Best wishes.
Always a pleasure to watch your video's Tim. Great Drone shots. Now a question - the Carlisle avoiding line which is no more was electrified . However the track coming down from Upperby and going under the WCML doesn't have any catenary - was this removed or was this not where trains accessed the avoiding line from ? Cheers Euan
Thanks Euan. I've consulted a pre-1923 Ordnance Survey map and there was no other approach to the avoiding line. The curve appears to have been twin track at that time. I can only presume that the catenary was removed. Someone with more specialist local knowledge - Les Gilpin perhaps - might be able to give a definitive answer.
Woopa, I thought for a moment you were going to miss the arrival of the special as you zoomed away from the approaching train.but as the professional that you are corrected it in time. Well done and interesting commentary to boot, many thanks again.
Ah well - watching the video on a 32" monitor at home the approaching train is obvious - when looking at the very small screen on my drone controller I simply couldn't see it and didn't realise that it was already in sight until it was almost too late. Best wishes.
The stock at the beginning is ex Midland Main Line which LSL are going to use. I thought the 57 looked nicely painted but out of place with the stock A green one would of been a lot better. I have not updated my power director from when I bought it. if it ain't busted don't fix it LOL. I noticed some time ago someone's uploads where the sound goes out of sync and once asked about it but he got a bit off hand with me so I just left it at that and did not look for a cure to help him out. Nice to see you out again on what turned out a lot better day than where I am, so glad I came up there.
Thanks for the information Colin. It was good to see you again after such a long gap. My Power Director is the 365, annual subscription and very expensive but has always been totally reliable until this latest upgrade. I've managed to reinstall it so let's see how it goes. There are some excellent free editors available but I'm getting a bit long in the tooth to be learning a new programme these days!
@@schoolshorts I got Power Director 18 as a one off payment, they keep wanting me to upgrade to a 365 subscription but I am happy with what I have. I know how you mean with learning to use another editor I tried another free one a while ago and thought I rather keep using what I have. There looks to be a diesel charter on Saturday 17th as well as the steam.
