I found my voice. Then I sold my house and closed my law practice. This Canadian was called...I couldn't not go. So, I jumped on a plane and went to Africa--my journey is six months and counting.
I needed to use my voice. I needed to call in more voices, to see how other cultures lived, to hear about it first-hand.
I was called to a new purpose: to recognize and celebrate the inherent value of all human beings. I was called to explore identity, belonging, culture, and community.
The strangers that I have met have changed me. I have been deeply moved and touched by the stories of so many diverse and interesting people--people on the other side of the world no less! I have learned that we are all more alike than we are unalike. I have broadened my ethnocentric worldview (thankfully!).
So many voices to hear, so much to learn, and so little time.
