OH EM GEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! WHAT a treat! WHAT a performance! *W*H*A*T* an actor! Olsen danced as well as he sang, which adds greatly to the all-around wonderfulness! And the poor page! The lad did exceedingly well keeping up, especially in mimicking Olsen's fancy footwork! Bravo!
This was before Papp's Pirates came along and told the world there were other ways of doing it, and that it didn't need to be confined to the stranglehold the D'Oyly Carte had on it. I really like this Iolanthe production. It keeps the general aesthetic traditional while not being afraid to get irreverent at times.
@@sKid-gh9ub have you've noticed the scene where the Lord Chancellor decided to change the Fairy Law by saying that "a fairy would die if she 'doesn't' marry a mortal" got messed up thanks to the poor filming, immediately jumping to when the Fairy Queen turned Private Willis to a fairy after he agreed to serve as a fairy guardsman if he married the Fairy Queen, who had romantic feelings for him.

I got the date from IMDb. Operaonvideo.com gives the recording date as 1976. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a copyright date in the credits of the program to confirm either way.
@@Nicholas32906 I was asking your lordship because I found it distracting that they all look so similar, had I been in charge of costumes there would have been more variety (some would be earls, some dukes and grand dukes, etc).
@@aputridpileofb-movies6542 Grand dukes are not rank of nobility within The Empire of Great Britain. We do, however, recognize: Barons, Viscounts, Earls, Marquesses, and Dukes. Knighthoods, along with their coloured robes, we recognize are: Garter blue, Thistle green, Bath red, and St. Patrick light blue.

I merely meant to imply that had I chosen the outfits of the chorus they would be a mixture of several different significantly elite aristocratic ranks, and would have discernably different from each other outfits. I had been under the impression that members of the lords weren't all the same aristocratic rank and came from several different ranks.

We do also have Baronets, the title is hereditary and you are able to use the prefix sir, but it does not come with land and you are not a member of The House of Lords. I do appreciate your conviction to upholding absolute differentiation in costuming, when it comes to the Peers. I would be interested in how you would costume the Fairies.
