I think you're going to love the setup for what you do with the truck. I almost went that way after grenadeing 2 stock appearing. Looking forward to seeing the results.

I did illusion cherry and rose chrome both by prismic powders on my victory red Lbz, I like the grey a lot! Can’t wait to see it next video.

I always watch and like your content. Your the reason i was able to take apart my alternator to powdercoat it. Color combo it going to look insane. As for stall, whats your current stall at now? I dont sled pull but my current setup is a s480 over a 68mm vgt, everything built, my stall is a goerend DL 2300. It lights pretty good. I had a DK which i think is an 1800 stall. But i say all that to say do you think your stall for pulling should be higher or lower? My understanding is that in the higher range you can spool up more off the line, in the lower range you would leave sooner on less spool up but with less power. I think im saying that correct? Either way love the build.

Thanks for the support! Sounds like you've got a killer setup. I won't pretend that I have a good handle on how stalls really work at this point, but thats my general understanding as well. Also a higher stall will allow the engine to spin up to higher rpm while attempting to light the charger, which in my scenario (stock bottom end) is a good thing, to try and keep torque out of the low rpm range. I currently have a Suncoast 1056 TD converter which has a 2000 rpm (same as stock) stall. Talking to a few guys with similar turbo setups they are running a similar stall converter and do decently well, but most have told me they would prefer to have a higher 23-2400 rpm converter. So, we will see what happens.

Love your videos man. When you pull what gear do you pull in?

Cheers! I limit the truck to 3rd, and have the tcm tuned to launch in 2nd.

@@FixedVaneDuramax thank you man. Your truck is clean and runs good. I'm getting more into sled pulling. Getting alot of parts in the spring. Getting ideas for set ups and what to run for what gear to be in and stuff. Thank you for the advice!

If you ceramic coated the pedestal and exhaust housing on the turbo I wonder how much it would help spool up ?
@FixedVaneDuramax
@FixedVaneDuramax Год назад
That's a good question, I don't think it would make a big difference in that small length of an run but I could be wrong. I am going to coat the pedestal with an extreme temp paint at the very least just try and keep it from rusting.

I really enjoy your channel, I have a 2015 lml .buddy's got an lly. Thinking of selling lml and buying lly, no payment, no def no cp4 .all things being equal what are your thoughts
@FixedVaneDuramax
@FixedVaneDuramax Год назад
That's all in your personal budget, as well as your ability to work on your own vehicles, and the amount of time you want to spend working on your vehicles. LML is newer, new features, heavier frame for towing, but overall less maintenance work due to (I'm assuming) lower miles. However it has DEF, known cp4 issues, harder to modify if you would like to. LLY is older technology, easier to modify, lighter truck, better econ when tuned. Less creature comforts, much higher probability of nickel and diming you for replacement components. Ball joints, bushings, brakes, etc etc. So really is comes down to whether or not having a truck payment is worth the newer "nicer" truck that you shouldnt have to work on much. That my 2 cents, I obviously don't own a new truck at this point myself, I dont truly need one as we have available work trucks and farm trucks. I kept my older truck and bought a little BMW as a daily driver instead.

I'm getting close to needing my first truck and. I have a good job and I have an agreement with my parents to split the cost of what I'd like. I know there is a few things wrong with lb7 dmaxes like injectors, head gaskets, etc and I'd plan on getting them taken care of. But over all do think that an lb7 would be a good first truck and a less expensive way to get into diesels?
@gabrielkillian1085

YES! The best diesel for the price. A pain to work on tho
@braydenkok1622
@braydenkok1622 Год назад
Make sure you know what you're doing before you buy a diesel for your first vehicle or it will fuck you over, would recommend a gas for starters and then buy a diesel in the near future. But if a diesel is what you want you are more likely to have less problems with a lbz and you'll be way happier with the power even if it's stock.
