I can't remember who taught me this, but wanted to share. For contact cement, store it upside-down and the lid won't dry shut.

I already use baby food jars to separate small batches of nuts and bolts for my woodworking and I just started using jars for my special dye batches and sealants. I have small jars specifically for working at the bench rather than having the large containers - that way if there is an accident the waste is minimal. And for those in the UK or elsewhere overseas to get something comparable to pattern sheeting look in your local fabric shops there may be stencil making material you could use. I live in the U.S. and my mother was a quilter. She was always making a new pattern designs for her quilts and she would go to the fabric shop to get the template material.

Vaseline the top and threads of your glue jars. Stops drying and lid from sticking.

also when i take the top seal off some top coat etc i make sure and push it down inside the cap and it will stay there forever and keeps the fluid from drying out

Hi Chuck, first let me say that I truly enjoy watching your videos and all of your tips and tricks, I have learned so much from your instructions. I do have a question about Conchos though, is there a way to extend their longevity, like a clear sealant from Rust-Oleum 2x or similar?

Leather balm in a jar. Always label it or any other liquids if you decant into other containers. Also, put the date you purchased it on the bottle. It's good info even if just to pat yourself on the back that it lasted you a long time

I love these videos Chuck, thanks. What is your Pattern Sheeting’ material? Is it PVC sheet? I live in the U.K. and shipping would be excessive, so I’m wondering what I could do to benefit from this great wet moulding tip over here.

Hello! I have a new leather hip bag that is really stiff. What's the best (and preferably the fastest) way to soften it up? Thank you!

If the leather balm is a known problem, why doesn't the company package it in a container that will keep it in a ready to use state until the contents are used up?
@digitaIgorilla

Because they want you to buy more. ;)

@@digitaIgorilla it has the opposite effect for me. Makes me want to find another brand if I start having that issue.

Another way to keep screw cap cans/jars from "welding" shut, and improve the seal in the process, is to use plumber's Teflon pipe thread tape ( I use 1/2" width tape) and wrap a few turns around the can/jar threads. No more vise grips/channel lock pliers needed.... Oh.. and thanks Chuck for another great video... love the idea of the pattern sheeting and leather forming molds! Looks to be much easier and quicker to make those than using wood (even if you do have wood working shop/tools).

Where to get pattern sheeting? How to google it in europe?

if you put some vaseline on the glue top the glue wont stick and dry on it

Can you use normal paint thiners with your leather glue.
@WeaverLeatherSupply

We would recommend using the glue thinner that is the same brand as your glue.
